RE: [UC] FW: You know you live in West Philly if . . .

2011-07-13 Thread Roger/Vince
I guess my friend Bill Davis does not qualify as a true West Philly person;
he only recalled about half of the items. But what the heck, he's only
lived in West Philly for 85 years ..

[UC] Cedar Park Fair, this SATURDAY, August 6 from Noon-5pm w/Jazz at 6pm also

2011-08-03 Thread Roger/Vince
For those who are tired of the diatribes from Glenn Moyer and Tony West
about Clark Park and the future of civilization, here is a chance to catch a
glimpse of the intrigues that surround CEDAR PARK and the Cedar Park
Neighborhood, just to the west. Can you believe that real estate tyrants
Liz Campion and Melani Lamond both live in Cedar Park? That the
controversial Chester Avenue Dog Park continues to operate? That Bill Davis
is rumored to have stored up 50 years worth of illegal pharmaceuticals in
his basement? That mass murderer Gary Heidnick used to get his hair cut at
Anthony's at 47th and Baltimore? That everything Ross Bender writes is
actually true? These and other fascinating bits of information about the
seemingly mild-mannered neighborhood just west of the oh-so-stuffy Spruce
Hill and just south of the oh-so-posh Garden Court will all come out at the
100th Anniversary of CEDAR PARK, that lovely little park at 50th and
Baltimore.

Saturday, August 6 ALL WILL BE REVEALED but only to those
who believe in the power of Cedar Park. Come on out and you will be
converted!

(P.S Also enjoy music, activities, food, raffle and lots of fun and games
as well!)

[UC] RE: [UCNeighbors] Wallet theft at Green Line 43rd and Baltimore

2012-08-12 Thread Roger/Vince
Someone also had their wallet stolen at the Gold Standard today to the tune
of a couple thousand dollars. She is filing a police report and I hope your
housemate does too. It seems that someone maybe targeting Baltimore Avenue.
We checked our surveillance tapes and it looks as if it might be two men
working together.

My housemate had her wallet lifted earlier today at the Green Line at 43rd
and Baltimore. We'd thought the wallet was mislaid, but a quick check found
that someone had taken it up to City Line Ave to try to spend a couple
hundred bucks at Ross and Whole Foods.

So people, keep an eye on your stuff.

[UC] Short-term/Emergency need for a sublet

2012-11-27 Thread Roger/Vince
A neighbor contacted us about a pressing situation. She has rented an
apartment starting January 1, but - apparently despite receiving verbal
assurance she could stay in her current place until the end of the year -
she now has to move out of her current place by the end of this month!

So my understanding is she needs a place for one month .a few personal
clothing bags, no furniture involved.

If anyone has an idea, contact:

Many thanks!
