[UC] Small Repair needed to Porch Railing

2013-03-05 Thread Wendy Jastrzab
Hello all!

The wrought iron railing along the steps up to our front porch has become
detached at the top and needs to be welded or soldered or something. It's a
small job, but we need to get it repaired for our home owner's insurance
company. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions about who would be
willing and able to do such a small job that is required to be repaired? I have
no clue how to do it on our own and not even sure we could.

Thanks!

Re: [UC] RE: [UCNeighbors] Girl Scout Troops in the area?

2012-01-18 Thread Wendy Jastrzab
Check out the link below. It's a bit confusing, but one thing for sure is that
there should be Girl Scouts selling cookies outside the Wawa at 36th & Chestnut
for a couple of days in February. Apparently the sale starts tomorrow and goes
through early March. You can always try calling the Girls Scouts of
Southeastern PA if you can't find anyone selling. I've seen girls by the 30th
and Market Market Street Line stop in past years so I will be on the lookout
for them for sure!

Good luck!

RE: [UC] Vet Recommendation

2003-07-15 Thread Wendy Jastrzab

Sorry for
the late response – been out of town – but I can say I also liked the Cat Vet
on South Street during the one visit I’ve been so far with our 2 new kittens.
Very laid back & everyone was very nice. I’ll definitely return.

Recommendation

You might
want to try Cat Vet of South Street (South Street between 22nd and
23rd).  I believe that the quality of care is excellent.  I'm not
thrilled that they are closed Tuesday and Thursday or the lack of early
morning/early evening appointments, however.  I will add that my cat hates
going to the vet so much that they have to get gloves, a net, and tranquilizers
just to look at him.  Can't say for sure if there is something about the
place or the people that brings out the worst in him or whether he just hates
being handled by anyone but me.

OK, this
topic has pulled me out of the lurker's woodwork. We took our cat
to O'Neil's a few years ago, and the vet (I'm not sure which one it was - I
think there are several) yanked her out of her carrying box and handled her
very roughly. I was tense the whole visit (not to mention the cat). Since
our cat is an indoor cat with no apparent health problems, we actually
haven't been to a vet since, but she needs a check-up if anyone has any
other vet recommendations closer than Newark, DE :-).
