Thanks so much for circulating your timely neighborhood updates, Patty & 
Mark!


It's good that some neighbors put some effort into busting these 
paranoid internet fantasies for us. UC-list in particular has become 
notorious for paranoid internet fantasies for many years, because it 
relies solely on the good judgement of its readers and rejects, by 
definition, the word of trained & practiced information-gatherers. An 
unmoderated listserve provides no human filter between the reader and 
the trash. That's admirable in one sense -- but it imposes extra moral 
demands on readers.


Some can discern the difference at a glance; others take longer. It's 
not a race, so take your time!
