RE: [UC] Question about deliberations of zoning committee

2008-02-07 Thread KAREN ALLEN

I have to agree with Glenn. I reread his original post, and unlike mine on
this subject, where I have clearly stated that I am against this proposal,
Glenn's post said no such thing. He merely asked whether there is some
deliberative process, how it is conducted, and whether it will be done in such
a way that the community can observe it.

I fail to see what was so "evil tounged" about it. Unless asking to see the
deliberations is "evil tongued". Which makes me wonder about the deliberations.

I guess Glenn asked one question too many.

barry grossbach's original announcement of shca's zoning
meeting scheduled that meeting at a venue barely big enough
to accommodate much more than a dozen of his neighbors.

and his announcement to his neighbors concluded: "water and
tranquilizers will be served."

thankfully neighbors understand generosity when they see it!

People don't trust community-group volunteers to handle complex issues
perfectly.

Neither do people trust self-anointed spokespersons on unmoderated
listserves to handle complex issues perfectly.

My advice to everyone: avoid grandiose, evil-tongued posturing in serious
community debates. It's almost always wrong. Leave room for both sides in
such a dispute to be well-meaning and reasonable. It doesn't always work
out that way, but it is true more often than it is false.

My thought, Glenn, is that you should enter the upcoming meeting with an
open mind and a generous heart. This is always the best way to deal with
your University City neighbors. Speak well of your neighbors first.

Did you ever consider taking your own advice, Mr. President? You are one
funny dude Mr. Congeniality! Or should I call you, Father West.

Man, I can't stop laughing. Stop it Tony, no more; no more.

With an open mind and generous heart,
The wanker

I was a little confused by Barry’s response on the topic of deliberations
and vote of the zoning committee. I'm wondering what you folks think.

...

Does anyone know how and when SHCA zoning conducts this deliberation
process and vote? Should I ask Barry? Thoughts?
