Title: Re: [UC] organic local turkeys?

Someone emailed me with this question so I thought I'd post the answer to the listserv.

Sorry to bother you, but where/what is the Farmstand??

The Fair Food Farmstand is a stand in center court in the Reading Terminal Market (12 & Arch) every Friday run by the Fair Food Foundation. They sell a large assortment of local, sustainable, organic/chemical-free foods like cheese, meat, tofu and, of course, fruits and veggies. They have an email list you can subscribe to to receive weekly announcements of what the farmers are bringing in for the upcoming week. Just email [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you would like to get on the list, to order a turkey or if you have any questions!

The White Dog's Non-profit Project, the Fair Food Foundation is selling them this year:

The Fair Food Farmstand at the Reading Terminal Market is selling free-range organic & natural turkeys from Pennsylvania family farms for the Thanksgiving holiday.  Profits from the sale of turkeys will go to support the Fair Food Project.

 Certified Organic Turkeys (12 - 20 lbs)    $2.65/lb
 Natural Free-Range Turkeys (12 - 24 lbs) $2.00/lb

Order your turkey by Thurs, Nov 20. Pick-up at the Farmstand on Wed, Nov 26. (215) 386-9224 x122 or [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Subject: [UC] organic local turkeys?

I'd like to buy an organic turkey from a local farmer for Thanksgiving.
Last year, I was able to order one for pick-up at the White Dog; I have
unfortunately misplaced the contact info of the group I ordered it
through and haven't received any email about the program being run again
this year.

Does anyone know of such a program running this year?  Thanks.

Are
they involved with the Livengood's farm produce?  They have a stall in the
center and sell tomatoes that taste like the original Jersey tomatoes used to
taste like.
