[Bug 269251] Re: package bacula 2.4.2-1ubuntu4 ~hardy1 failed to install/upgrade: Abhängigkeitsp robleme - lasse es unkonfiguriert
This is supposed to be fixed in the 2.4.4 package but my installed-two- days-ago and fully-upgraded-tonight version of Intrepid wants to install the 2.4.2 package. So... I tried the workaround but it didn't work for me. After doing an 'aptitude search bacula*' I noticed that while I had done a aptitude purge bacula there were a couple of bacula-* packages that still had configurations (i.e. a c before the package name). I manually went through and did an aptitude purge bacula-... for each package that still had a configuration. Once I did that I was able to do an aptitude install bacula and it worked fine. [Bug 328035] Re: *** glibc detected *** free(): invalid next size (fast) for xf86Wakeup() call
I have just confirmed that my X server still crashes with 2:2.6.3-0ubuntu2. The usual scenario is: 1. I watch a DVD using totem-xine 2. I close totem-xine 3. I suspend the laptop using Fn+F4 4. I go to sleep 5. In the morning, I resume the laptop using the power button 6. The screen flickers and I am presented with the gdm login screen, rather than my session (with the old X server having mysteriously vanished) Today, I ran a suspend/resume stress test using the script in checkbox, but it completed successfully with no crashes. I've also tried suspending the system after running totem-xine (which works reliably), and even while totem-xine is running (the latter fails to go to sleep at all, but gracefully). I am still looking for a way to trigger this crash which does not require waiting overnight. Any guesses or suggestions would be appreciated. -- *** glibc detected *** free(): invalid next size (fast) for xf86Wakeup() call https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/328035 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs -- universe-bugs mailing list universe-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/universe-bugs

[Bug 264314] Re: Brasero documentation does not appear in Yelp search results
I tried adding scrollkeeper as a build-dep and depends with yelp as suggests (as with other gnome packages), but this doesn't seem to have resolved the problem. [Bug 346339] [NEW] :Jaunty alpha 6: Corruption in VLC
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: vlc I have been experiencing much Plasma corruption, crashes, and bugs on Kubuntu 9.04 alpha 6 with ATI x1400 mobility radeon video, open source drivers. Today I opened VLC (a Qt app, like Plasma) and found the corruption shown in the screenshot: icons missing, volume indicator missing. Therefore I suspect that Qt is to blame for at least some of the problems. In communication with KDE devs it seems that Qt 4.5.0 might have problems but he was not explicit and I do not want to quote. In any case: $ kde4-config -v Qt: 4.5.0 KDE: 4.2.1 (KDE 4.2.1) kde4-config: 1.0 So although this bug is filed against VLC (the app where the particular problems occur) I suspect that it is a deeper Qt issue. ** Affects: vlc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- :Jaunty alpha 6: Corruption in VLC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346339 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs -- universe-bugs mailing list universe-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/universe-bugs

[Bug 344554] Re: screen flickers for 2-3 minutes and getting almost black when unpluging laptop
There is a similar (but maybe not exactly the same) problem at bug 339200. From you log file it seems that you also have something calling an Xrandr method over and over again (your Xorg.0.log is BIG, with the same lines over and over again in the end -- the lines are added each time Xrandr is called). On many monitors each Xrandr call may cause a blink, and this is perfectly normal. The unnatural thing here (like in bug 339200) is that something is triggering this constantly. You can keep an eye on the number of lines in Xorg.0.log by running `while true; do wc -l /var/log/Xorg.0.log; done` before you unplug the power (stop it with Ctrl+C). You should see the same number until the Xrandr starts adding lines. On my computer, running xrandr once from the command line adds about 100 lines. To solve this problem, we have to figure out what program is calling xrandr constantly. Could you try logging in with different window managers (KDE, gnome, xfce, etc.) and see if this changes the behaviour? -- screen flickers for 2-3 minutes and getting almost black when unpluging laptop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/344554 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs -- universe-bugs mailing list universe-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/universe-bugs

Hey Daniel, The issue is that the packages itself has been build up against libssl- dev0.9.8g-10, which is almost correct. [Bug 346364] [NEW] Apply font configurations to Qt applications also
Public bug reported: If I use Gnome, tweak my fonts (choose a specific font, make it antialiased with subpixel hinting with slight hinting and RGB), my fonts look good in GTK applications. However, if I install a Qt application such as Skype, my fonts don't look as good. This is because Qt applications don't find information regarding fonts settings, and therefore, use a default font-rendering configuration. A simple fix to this is, when changing font configurations in Gnome, creating also a ~/.fonts.conf file with the information for Qt applications. For instance: ?xml version=1.0? !DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM fonts.dtd fontconfig match target=font edit name=rgba mode=assign constrgb/const /edit /match match target=font edit name=rgba mode=assign constrgb/const /edit edit name=hinting mode=assign booltrue/bool /edit edit name=hintstyle mode=assign consthintslight/const /edit /match /fontconfig This way, font rendering in Qt applications is always the same as in GTK applications, hence a more consistent desktop look and feel. [Bug 346382] [NEW] Prevent keyring from always asking for password
Public bug reported: Whenever I log into Gnome, I am asked for my password to release my network adapter so I can connect to the Internet. There's no way to select an option like Always allow or Don't ask again. If I am logged in, I am allowed to use the computer, so I shouldn't have to type in my password again. Not to mention every session having to type a password. If the application is a keyring, how good is it if you always have to type your password? It doesn't keep the keys as supposed. The forum thread suggests several temporary solutions to stop the nag, but it should work silently out of the box with no extra fix or walk through. Thanks for your comprehension. Update: I used an *Hardy* Kubuntu Live CD on the same computer, and the webcam was recognized by default. The picture under Cheese was correct with proper colors.
