[Bug 269251] Re: package bacula 2.4.2-1ubuntu4 ~hardy1 failed to install/upgrade: Abhängigkeitsp robleme - lasse es unkonfiguriert

2009-03-21 Thread Mike Newell
This is supposed to be fixed in the 2.4.4 package but my installed-two-
days-ago and fully-upgraded-tonight version of Intrepid wants to install
the 2.4.2 package. So...

I tried the workaround but it didn't work for me. After doing an
'aptitude search bacula*' I noticed that while I had done a aptitude
purge bacula there were a couple of bacula-* packages that still had
configurations (i.e. a c before the package name). I manually went
through and did an aptitude purge bacula-... for each package that
still had a configuration. Once I did that I was able to do an
aptitude install bacula and it worked fine. Whew!

Please sync ngrep 1.45.ds2-3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main).

It's a bugfix-only release, no exception needed.

Changelog since current jaunty version 1.45.ds2-2:

ngrep (1.45.ds2-3) unstable; urgency=low

  * debian/rules: Force pcap includes location, avoids overzealous
configure check which thinks the new pcap 1.0 locations are two
different installations (closes: #518889).
  * debian/control: Bump Standards-Version to 3.8.0, no changes needed.

[Bug 264314] Re: Brasero documentation does not appear in Yelp search results

2009-03-21 Thread Matthew East
Yes, the problem is now more serious because it's impossible to open the
brasero manual at all with yelp at ghelp:brasero. Opening it manually
from /usr/share/gnome/help/brasero/C/brasero.xml works ok.

I think the reason is that brasero doesn't install an omf file in
/usr/share/omf as the other documents do.

[Bug 328035] Re: *** glibc detected *** free(): invalid next size (fast) for xf86Wakeup() call

2009-03-21 Thread Matt Zimmerman
I have just confirmed that my X server still crashes with
2:2.6.3-0ubuntu2. The usual scenario is:

1. I watch a DVD using totem-xine
2. I close totem-xine
3. I suspend the laptop using Fn+F4
4. I go to sleep
5. In the morning, I resume the laptop using the power button
6. The screen flickers and I am presented with the gdm login screen, rather
than my session (with the old X server having mysteriously vanished)

Today, I ran a suspend/resume stress test using the script in checkbox,
but it completed successfully with no crashes. I've also tried
suspending the system after running totem-xine (which works reliably),
and even while totem-xine is running (the latter fails to go to sleep at
all, but gracefully). I am still looking for a way to trigger this
crash which does not require waiting overnight. Any guesses or
suggestions would be appreciated.

[Bug 286673] Re: flash plugin 10 is extremely slow !

2009-03-21 Thread Jens Bremmekamp
Flash is unbelievably slow on my Eee PC with 1.6 GHz Atom and Intrepid
32 Bit in Firefox. I'd love to try and turn on/off hardware acceleration
for Flash, but when I open the settings dialog it is completely
unclickable. Flash movies stutter and stop all the time, regardless of
website or movie size. Flash is completely unusable in this state.

Tried another Browser (Opera) - even WORSE.

Could anyone at least decide on the importance of this bug?

[Bug 264314] Re: Brasero documentation does not appear in Yelp search results

2009-03-21 Thread Matthew East
I tried adding scrollkeeper as a build-dep and depends with yelp as
suggests (as with other gnome packages), but this doesn't seem to have
resolved the problem.

In the build various files exist in ./debian/tmp/usr/share/omf/brasero/
but these don't get installed on the system, I'm not clear why.

Hopefully this is enough information for someone to fix the bug.

 Hi,

I seem to have what Matt is describing in his last step (6). I'm not
watching movies and sleeping however, I rather work away with gajim,

and then wake up by opening it in the next data centre (after
travelling). I've been greeted by the GDM login screen the last few
days.

Package builds fine, sync request ACK'd.

That patch only suppress a warning, it's not a sufficient reason to maintain a
delta between Ubuntu and Debian.

However, please submit the patch to Debian BTS, we'll sync it later.

[Bug 346339] [NEW] :Jaunty alpha 6: Corruption in VLC

2009-03-21 Thread dotancohen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vlc

I have been experiencing much Plasma corruption, crashes, and bugs on
Kubuntu 9.04 alpha 6 with ATI x1400 mobility radeon video, open source
drivers. Today I opened VLC (a Qt app, like Plasma) and found the
corruption shown in the screenshot: icons missing, volume indicator
missing. Therefore I suspect that Qt is to blame for at least some of
the problems.

In communication with KDE devs it seems that Qt 4.5.0 might have problems but
he was not explicit and I do not want to quote. In any case:
$ kde4-config -v
Qt: 4.5.0
KDE: 4.2.1 (KDE 4.2.1)
kde4-config: 1.0

So although this bug is filed against VLC (the app where the particular
problems occur) I suspect that it is a deeper Qt issue.

[Bug 345344] Re: [jaunty] The Shut Down, Restart and Log Out buttons do not appear translatable

2009-03-21 Thread Tomasz Dominikowski
Well, I've no idea, but the problem is two-fold, not only are the
strings unavailable for translation, but they shouldn't be reused for
titlebars. Why isn't this being worked on, I think this is a rather
high-profile, very visible bug.

[Bug 344554] Re: screen flickers for 2-3 minutes and getting almost black when unpluging laptop

2009-03-21 Thread Geir Ove Myhr
There is a similar (but maybe not exactly the same) problem at bug
339200.

From you log file it seems that you also have something calling an
Xrandr method over and over again (your Xorg.0.log is BIG, with the same
lines over and over again in the end -- the lines are added each time
Xrandr is called). On many monitors each Xrandr call may cause a blink,
and this is perfectly normal. The unnatural thing here (like in bug
339200) is that something is triggering this constantly.

You can keep an eye on the number of lines in Xorg.0.log by running
`while true; do wc -l /var/log/Xorg.0.log; done` before you unplug the
power (stop it with Ctrl+C). You should see the same number until the
Xrandr starts adding lines. On my computer, running xrandr once from the
command line adds about 100 lines.

To solve this problem, we have to figure out what program is calling
xrandr constantly. Could you try logging in with different window
managers (KDE, gnome, xfce, etc.) and see if this changes the behaviour?

[Bug 265086] Re: dependencies wrong

2009-03-21 Thread Mads Madsen
Hey Daniel,

The issue is that the packages itself has been build up against libssl-
dev0.9.8g-10, which is almost correct.

Quote from my email to Stefan:
After some digging around in the nginx source code, I found out that nginx
itself will only enable TLS if TLS Extension is present in libssl-dev, and
since you have compiled nginx up against 0.9.8g-10.1 it will automatically
enable TLS, since the TLS Extension was added to libssl as of version
0.9.8g-5.

The TLS part in the nginx source can be found in ngx_http_ssl_module.c on line
357.
I have uploaded the file with the part.

[Bug 346364] [NEW] Apply font configurations to Qt applications also

2009-03-21 Thread Charles
Public bug reported:

If I use Gnome, tweak my fonts (choose a specific font, make it
antialiased with subpixel hinting with slight hinting and RGB), my fonts
look good in GTK applications. However, if I install a Qt application
such as Skype, my fonts don't look as good. This is because Qt
applications don't find information regarding fonts settings, and
therefore, use a default font-rendering configuration. A simple fix to
this is, when changing font configurations in Gnome, creating also a
~/.fonts.conf file with the information for Qt applications. For
instance:

?xml version=1.0?
!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM fonts.dtd
fontconfig
match target=font
edit name=rgba mode=assign
constrgb/const
/edit
/match
match target=font
edit name=rgba mode=assign
constrgb/const
/edit
edit name=hinting mode=assign
booltrue/bool
/edit
edit name=hintstyle mode=assign
consthintslight/const
/edit
/match
/fontconfig

This way, font rendering in Qt applications is always the same as in GTK
applications, hence a more consistent desktop look and feel.
See before: http://lyncis.info/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/qt4-fonts-bad.png
And after: http://lyncis.info/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/qt4-fonts-good.png
More info: http://lyncis.info/post/189/en
Thanks,

[Bug 346382] [NEW] Prevent keyring from always asking for password

2009-03-21 Thread Charles
Public bug reported:

Whenever I log into Gnome, I am asked for my password to release my network
adapter so I can connect to the Internet. There's no way to select an option
like Always allow or Don't ask again. If I am logged in, I am allowed to
use the computer, so I shouldn't have to type in my password again. Not to
mention every session having to type a password. If the application is a
keyring, how good is it if you always have to type your password? It doesn't
keep the keys as supposed. The forum thread suggests several temporary
solutions to stop the nag, but it should work silently out of the box with no
extra fix or walk through. Thanks for your comprehension.

[Bug 343347] Re: Please sync urwid 0.9.8.4-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2009-03-21 Thread Ian Ward
Debian won't be using python2.6 for some time(?), so the patch is only
really useful for Ubuntu users. The patch will be included in the next
Urwid release, so there is nothing to maintain.

[Bug 346370] Re: [jaunty] webcam CS330 not working with gspca

2009-03-21 Thread ullix
Update:
I used an *Hardy* Kubuntu Live CD on the same computer, and the webcam was
recognized by default. The picture under Cheese was correct with proper colors.
Possibly interesting note: The picture was color correct ONLY as long as the
light was rather dark. As soon as the camera looked into brighter areas (w
direct sunshine on them) the colors became pinkish, and the whole picture
looked like taken in false-colors.

Same webcam on a different computer running *intrepid* resulted in a
look identical to that on Jaunty.

[Bug 234717] Re: Links browser requires suid in VGA mode

2009-03-21 Thread David
It would be wonderful if this program worked in graphics mode. I run it
and it says graphics not enabled when compiling. I tried adding libs
but finally got stuck when it said libvga needed and we have libvga
installed. This is a great program. Lightning fast.

[Bug 346277] Re: Seq24 crashes when right clicking edit or new (cell)

2009-03-21 Thread Thomas E Jenkins
I can confirm this. I believe it has been broken for most of Jaunty. I
can also confirm building the latest release 0.9.0 from
https://launchpad.net/seq24 fixes it.

** Changed in: seq24 (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Confirmed
