I think it's normal and correct here to use "Fix committed" when it has
just been committed upstream. Yes, I find that weird too.

[Bug 410379] Re: Tomcat security configuration error prevents proper logging when used with Sun's JVM

2009-10-14 Thread Thierry Carrez
To Joshua: The only (meaningful for this bug) difference running
apache.org tomcat instead of the Ubuntu packages is that you don't get a
security manager enabled by default, so you don't hit this bug and you
don't have to care about configuring policy files. If you don't care
about running with a security manager, I'd recommend running the Ubuntu
package with TOMCAT5_SECURITY=no, you would get the same effect.

This bug is not about Ubuntu's tomcat packages, but rather with a recent
change in Sun's JVM that make some changes in policy files required if
you want to run with a security manager and Sun's JVM. This bug would
hit both the apache.org prebuilt code and ours.

[Bug 172790] Re: html-helper-mode with ASP-files does not work

2009-10-14 Thread Klaus S. Madsen
Please tell me what information is lacking?

The bug was changed to "Incomplete" with the comment "Is this symptom
still reproducible in 8.10?", to which I responded "I don't seem to have
the speedbar problem anymore, but both of the patches for visual-basic-
mode is still required, and they still apply."

That comment obviously applies to whether the problem is reproducible in
8.10.

What might not be obvious is that visual-basic-mode is a part of the
html-helper-mode package.

Btw. I've just tested Karmic Koala, and the problem is still present
there, and the patches still apply.

I'll change it back to new.

2009-10-14 Thread Micah Gersten
Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Sometimes Firefox profiles can
become corrupt and/or extensions can conflict. Could you please try
this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? You do not
need to delete your old profile to test. If this helps, you might want
to try to disable all your extensions and re-enable them one by one
until you find the problematic one.

You can start the profile manager with the following command:
firefox -ProfileManager

Your problem here is that DAEMON_OPTS is empty, it needs to contain a definition
for the control socket - the new debconf questions ensure that. I'm thinking
about creating a new question for that or something like that to make it
obvious, but that won't happen before the next upload.

[Bug 449023] Re: LNB configuration window does not appear under diseqc settings

2009-10-14 Thread gocin
Hi,

yesterday I installed the latest updates and tested some things - before
I open another bug - here's another issue but I don't which packeage is
affected, alsa or mythtv (mythfrontend / mythbackend?) - maybe you could
give me an advice what to do?

If I start the system or reboot it mythfrontend starts - starting 'watching TV'
the sound is quite loud - I can decrease it using my remote, the bar which
shows the percentage reacts but the sound stays as loud as before.
If I'm exiting 'watching TV' and enter the general setup menu where you can set
the sound configuration - and I do NOT cange anything, just click thru - and
start 'watching TV' again - all works as it should be.

Any idea? Should I open another bug? Or is it known?

Best regards,
Nico.

[Bug 434127] Re: Google gadget failed to start - failed to load module: js-script-runtime

2009-10-14 Thread roxthiaguin
In that version, google-gadgets-gtk won`t even run! It`s a "dead weight" in the
repo
Upgrade the last google-gadgets-gtk (0.11.1) that has that problems fixed and a
lot of improvements

[Bug 368135] Re: X crashes after a few minutes or seconds (Jaunty)

2009-10-14 Thread Bryce Harrington
Thanks. The SendCoreEvents crash bug sounds like one we now have a
patch for in the xserver, so forcing SendCoreEvents on should not be
necessary.

I've also added your fdi into the package (except the now unnecessary
SendCoreEvents).

patch for ggl-gtk crash

The program 'ggl-gtk' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAtom (invalid Atom parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 299 error_code 5 request_code 19 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

2009-10-14 Thread roxthiaguin
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 434127 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/434127

This can be fixed only by upgrading to the last version of google-
gadgets-gtk from it`s googlecode page

the last one is 0.11.1, with a fix for that bug and a lot of other fixes
and improvements!

Please, consider upgrading it on Karmic`s repository

[Bug 451048] Re: qutecom crashed with SIGSEGV in QLibrary::setFileName()

2009-10-14 Thread adse
Hi Ludovico Cavedon!

Your hint solved my problem! (I'm new to Ubuntu.) Not only is QuteCom starting
now, but also works perfectly for me!
For convenience I'm gonna avoid future use of the terminal "qutecom -style
plastique" and change my launcher to what you wrote instead.

in case you care for the terminal log ("qutecom -style plastique"):

u...@user-laptop:~$ qutecom -style plastique
(info) 10:50:33 [Common] void QtLanguage::loadLanguageFromConfig(): no Qt
translation available for locale ''
(info) 10:50:33 [Common] void QtLanguage::loadLanguageFromConfig(): no
application translation available for locale ''
sVoIP_phapi_handle_invite_in

running "OWLOGGER_DEFAULT=debug qutecom" in terminal makes QuteCom start
correctly as well and does not result in a crash like it did before.
Since there is no crash thistime I don't know if you still care for the
log file (I attached it anyway).

THANKS FOR THE QUICK HINT & greetings from Germany!

[Bug 443105] Re: tty screen produces garbled graphics when gfxpayload is set

2009-10-14 Thread mabawsa
OK the latest round of updates got rid of the garbled terminals at all
resolutions. Terminals are back to normal when gfxpayload is not set in
the 00_headers file. When gfxpayload is set to keep I just get a
flashing cursor in the tty windows. This occurs at
GRUB_GFXMODE=1280x800x24, GRUB_GFXMODE=1280x800, GRUB_GFXMODE=1024x768
and GRUB_GFXMODE=800x600. So I guess the bug is still there as I cannot
access the tty other than at the lowest resolution.

[Bug 451117] [NEW] Mythtv doesn't find all channels

2009-10-14 Thread FlexxxV
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mythtv

Hello
I'm using Ubuntu karmic (development branch) (9.10).
Since the switch to 0.22 I have problems with searching the channels.
I am using a usb dvbt reciver from MSI (Digivox mini II (v3.0)) (15a4:9016).
It is working great with the af9015 drivers which are included in the kernel (I
even got the remote control working via a config file). When I'm using the 0.22
from official repos myth-setup is only finding 4 channels (channel 21) or none.
0.21 found all, me-tv also is working.
I wasn't able to find any hints in dmesg, mythtv output and logs.
So I decided yesterday to do a svn checkout (trunk 22423), compiled it, and
used checkinstall (don't kill me ;) ) to get some kind of package. After
instalation I just were able to find find the channels.
Hope this gets fixed to the official release.
I'l be able to test the same scenario with another usb dvbt reciver from
another brand if needed.

I'm running native 1400x1050 on main display, when I connect to external display
it is set to 800x600 and both displays are blank.
If I manually set main display to 1152x864 then both displays work.

I believe this is expected with said hardware. Maybe Ubuntu should guarantee
that combined resolution will not exceed hardware limits?

[Bug 436340] Re: Installer fails: grub fails on Intel ICH10 raid

2009-10-14 Thread Jim Bailey
Thanks for the reply Felix,

it doesn't help me but at least I understand some of the reasoning
behind this. I guess karmic gets a thumbs down from me based on this
regression alone. At lot of people installing Karmic for the first
time, are going to get the hump when there install fails at the last
hurdle. I wonder if the possibility of using grub1 can be included in
the installer.

[Bug 444039] Re: Xorg crashes when running a 3D game under WINE

2009-10-14 Thread Brian Rogers
Hit alt-F2, type 'winecfg' and hit enter. Then click the graphics tab,
and put a check mark by 'emulate a virtual desktop'. Then click OK. This
will make all wine applications run within a virtual desktop in a
window, including full-screen applications.

Can you then reproduce the problem with this setting turned on? I know
of a crash that can trigger when wine applications change the screen
resolution. If you're encountering that bug, this setting will bypass
the problem.

I'm going to investigate.

For dmraids always GRUB Legacy was forced inside grub-installer and this
hasn't change even since Debian switched to GRUB 2 by default too.
But it seems that at least in Ubuntu this has become broken.
I don't know for Debian.
Comment #3 in this report looks like GRUB Legacy has been excluded from
the CD.

[Bug 451146] [NEW] [945gm] Adobe flashplayer crashes on GPU enabled SWF files

2009-10-14 Thread OverSoft
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Using the newest flash player (standalone and Firefox plugin) (10.0.32.18) with
a GPU enabled SWF file on Karmic beta with the Intel 2.9.0-b1 driver crashes
flashplayer (segmentation fault, core dumped).
This wasn't a problem in Intrepid and Jaunty.

Steps to test this:
1) Download standalone player from
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
2) Extract the standalone/release player from the archive and put it somewhere
useful (like /usr/bin)
3) Create a file named: /etc/adobe/mms.cfg and put this line in it:
"OverrideGPUValidation=true"
4) Download a GPU enabled SWF file (for example:
http://oversoft.no-ip.org/gpuswftest/ (be sure to download the FLV file as
well))
5) Start the player from the terminal: flashplayer flvplayer.swf

It is supposed to go fullscreen and then display a really anoying FLV
file (flashes colors, i used it to test vsync).

The player will try to go to fullscreen for a couple of seconds and crash.
Try it again after that and it will insta-crash.
Use a SWF which uses direct-rendering or software-rendering doesn't crash the
player (but also, no acceleration obviously).

I don't know if it's related to UXA or to KMS (seems highly impropable) or just
to a new bug in the Intel driver.
(Step 3 is needed to set the flash player to hardware acceleration, as the
player has a weird way of discovering GPU acceleration capabilities and won't
enable acceleration on Intel cards)

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu)

 Status: New

[Bug 164932] Re: Suggestion for a new keyboard map

2009-10-14 Thread Noam Yorav-Raphael
Can you elaborate on what information is missing?
vkeybd has a default keyboard map which isn't very efficient. I wrote another
one. If you put it in "~/.vkeybdmap" it gives you a better keyboard map. I
suggest that it becomes the default one.

[Bug 423629] Re: update-manager unable to configure gpsd

2009-10-14 Thread Nasa
Because I suck, and failed to add all pertinent information... The
DAEMON_OPTS was always empty (from initial install of jaunty) The
only thing I edited was the DEVICES line and that was after my attempts
to upgrade; ie: after upgrading to the Beta version. I don't recall
what was in the DEVICES line prior to me changing it (I have two usb
serial type devices and wanted to avoid gpsd finding the wrong one).

This problem doesn't seem to affect the running of gpsd itself, rather
it causes more of a problem for upgrading packages which have gpsd as a
requirement.

[Bug 451169] [NEW] Performance really dropped with 2.6.31-8-rt

2009-10-14 Thread hanzomon4
Public bug reported:

Performance has really taken a hit with the latest RT kernel... X-runs
are quite a bit more frequent and general performance of the desktop is
poor, it even hard locked on me forcing an ugly reboot. The general
performance of the stock kernel is fine however. I think this may have
something to do with the dynamic ticks feature being turned off. Only 3
things were changed according to the change log and only one is unique
to the rt kernel.

 [ Alessio Igor Bogani ]
  * Fix a package description error
  * Dynamic Ticks off by default

  [ Luke Yelavich ]
  * Update to Ubuntu mainline kernel v2.6.31-13.45.
  * Set CONFIG_X86_PAT=y as per mainline.
