[Bug 496264] [NEW] nouveau crashes with kernel 2.6.31-16

2009-12-13 Thread Denis Rut'kov
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

With the latest kernel the nouveau module causes a system crash when
loading X. The screen goes blank and the system doesn't respond to
input.

[Bug 454832] [NEW] issues with keyboard input

2009-10-18 Thread Denis Rut'kov
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tilda

After recent upgrade I have strange issues with tilda. After some time
(or, more precisely, after working with other apps) it stops reacting to
keyboard input. However, it still reacts to some keys on the numpad (num
enter, - and +) and hotkeys.

I can open a new tab (ctrl+t) and it works again (on both tabs), but
when I close this new tab, it stops working.

This situation happens both with xfwm4 and compiz, so it's not related
to window manager.

This is really strange and I have no idea how to debug it.

[Bug 353294] Re: 2D acceleration is not working as it should

2009-04-03 Thread Denis Rut'kov
I'm sorry, I reported it wrong. It's not all nouveau fault, only
partially. Looks like no OpenGL support may be affecting flash, but the
overall system slowness is caused by another reason (probably bad
multitasking, as applications tend to take all CPU resources from time
to time).

I retested it with nvidia binary drivers. The xfwm4 with compositing
uses about the same CPU, compiz however uses much less CPU. Xfwm4
without compositing is barely usable with both drivers. With gtkperf
benchmark nvidia drivers are twice as fast as nouveau in some tests,
but in others they're almost the same.

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

I don't really know if it's a bug. But I expected nouveau to offload
some CPU workload to videocard for 2D operations since it supports EXA.
But when I simply drag the window the CPU load bounces to 70%, firefox
is often sluggish even without flash, and with flash it's completely
unusable.

This is a part of the previous log after launching and exiting Wesnoth

After exiting Wesnoth the actual view area shows only small part of the

view area on a large screen. XrandR reports the resolution used is 1024
x 768.

[Bug 344762] Re: Nouveau fails to start after an update

2009-03-19 Thread Denis Rut'kov
Let me explain. After an update X didn't start, so I looked into the
log. The only place which mentions an error in log is this:

[0.212974] (EE) NOUVEAU(0): wrong DRM version
[0.213053] (EE) NOUVEAU(0): DRI pre-initialisation failed. Setting NoAccel

I did not have this error before the update, and I didn't see libdrm
updated alongside with noveau, so the only conclusion I could make -
libdrm was not updated. A little googling proved this as people were
complaining about the same issue.

The backtrace tells me nothing. If it tells you something, please
explain.

[Bug 323619] Re: Fullscreen applications wrong behaviour

2009-02-04 Thread Denis Rut'kov
Ok, here is my xorg.conf.

This bug happened in almost all games I tested, which includes:
Lincity NG (slow)
SDL-BALL (sluggsih)
The Battle for Wesnoth (the easiest one to test as it offers a variety of video
modes)
Secret Maryo Chronicles (sluggsih)
Pingus
Planet Penguin Racer (sluggish)

This bug does NOT happen in Teeworlds, but this one requires restart to
change the in-game resolution. It runs very slow, too.

All applications above are open-source, so I hope this bug will be fixed
soon.
