[Bug 1569400] Re: mk-sbuild fails with cp: /etc/localtime... are the same file

2016-07-03 Thread Martin Pitt
Hello Robie, or anyone else affected,

Accepted ubuntu-dev-tools into xenial-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-dev-
tools/0.155ubuntu2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 523387] Re: [MIR] gwibber

2010-02-18 Thread Martin Pitt
Packaging:
 - Package ships autostart desktop file, which should be dropped:
+ A lot of people don't do microblogging, and generally we do not want to
launch applications by default.
+ Gwibber is written in Python, which uses an excessive amount of CPU, and
would ruin boot speed.

 - Package has heavy dependencies (python-egenix-mxdatetime and python-
egenix-mxtools) which use 1.3 MB .deb size alone (for a Python library
which provides some date/time utility functions???); This is excessive
bloat, and will make the CDs overflow yet again. At least the
documentation/examples should be removed from those two python modules
(which account for 2/3 of the package size).

Bugs: Package has ~ 500 bugs ATM, of which many are untriaged and looks serious
(lots and lots of crashes). Of course many are wishlist bugs, which is okay and
just shows that it is a fairly popular piece of software. But still, this is
three times as much as firefox.
I wonder whether it is really mature enough to go into an LTS yet.

How much of a goal is gwibber for lucid? Is it an option to keep it in
universe and install on demand, so that it doesn't fall under the LTS
support commitment? It looks like no single person could keep up with
bug triage, and at least fix all those crashes?

[Bug 475891] Re: [SRU] eagle crashes on several user actions

2010-02-17 Thread Martin Pitt
I don't understand why we have to prolong this madness of copying
binaries into ~/.eagle/bin/ (which is wrong for a multitude of reasons).
Why can't we instead remove the faulty/obsolete binary from ~/.eagle/bin
on startup instead? This might require wrapping the original eagle
binary into a shell script wrapper, but at least this will all happen in
/usr/, and thus can then be cleaned up for good in lucid.

[Bug 515976] Re: [MIR] openhpi

The packages look fine, but I'm unsure on the rationale here. If openhpi
is to become an officially supported feature in lucid, why would we only
have the library in main? Shouldn't we support the actual programs as
well? Does the server team commit to looking after the package in an
Ubuntu/release management/testing context?
