I cannot reproduce this error in Jaunty. Thanks for your backtrace. Unfortunately it is missing debug symbols, and is not of the latest version. Audacity 1.3.7-2 is available in Jaunty, the development version Ubuntu. You should be able to reproduce this problem with either a normal Jaunty installation, or using a Jaunty LiveCD. Please try to obtain a backtrace following the instructions at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload the backtrace (as an attachment) to the bug report.
