Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Distro Choice

2007-06-23 Thread nobspangle

+1 for gentoo

The ebuild for slimserver works really well and there is one for
AlienBBC that sorts out the whole mplayer, realplayer headache for
you.

Installation is much quicker now that the default install uses
pre-compiled binaries for pretty much everything.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] SB3 suddenly lost connection with SS

2007-06-23 Thread hsmeets

Problem solved.

Somehow the network adapter in the server had a problem.

I couldn't ping the SB from the server but the SB was pingable from
other computers in the network. And I could also reach these computers
from the server. Just the SB was not reachable.

Rebooted the server but still no succes, but then I thought: i haven't
powered it really off so maybe the network card itself is at fault.

Succes! after a real power-off and power-on the SB and the Server talk
to each other again!

Sigh of releave.

does the all-black SB sound better than the white SB?

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] problems with SS 6.3.0, can I go back to 6.5.2?

Thanks for the reply.

My first post at the LinuxMInit forum did not yield much, but I will
try again.

[SlimDevices: Unix] m4a works, but now flac doesn't??

2007-06-23 Thread kevmacmills

With Apple changing to m4a, I converted my music library and configured
my custom-convert.conf file to play them via mplayer as outlined in the
wiki:

alc wav * *
[mplayer] -novideo -ao pcm:nowaveheader:file=/dev/fd/4 $FILE$
41 1/de
v/null

mov wav * *
[mplayer] -novideo -ao pcm:nowaveheader:file=/dev/fd/4 $FILE$
41 1/de
v/null

My m4a files play great, but now I can't play my flac files! When I
attempt to play a flac file, the squeezebox says it can't find the
file. The log reveals:

2007-06-23 16:47:36.6903 ERROR: openSong:

Anyone have an idea what's going on here? I'm running slimserver 6.5.3
- 12181 on Ubuntu 6.06.

Thanks!

[SlimDevices: Unix] MySQL dying on ClarkConnect 4.1

2007-06-23 Thread jeckman

Hello all.

I've got SlimServer 6.5.2 running on ClarkConnect Community 4.1 box.

It's started somewhat randomly to fail.

Parsing the logs, it seems like MySQL dies first:

070623 18:21:57 InnoDB: Error: Write to file ./ibdata1 failed at
offset 0 123813888.
InnoDB: 16384 bytes should have been written, only -1 were written.
InnoDB: Operating system error number 5.
InnoDB: Check that your OS and file system support files of this size.

It says this is a generic input/output error. The ibdata1 file seems to
be 186M, disk doesn't seem full, no quotas in place.

Any other ideas?

Here's the version info from the web interface:

SlimServer Version: 6.5.2 - 12047 - RedHat - EN - utf8
Server IP address: 192.168.5.106
Perl Version: 5.8.5 i386-linux-thread-multi
MySQL Version: 5.0.21-standard

Restarting the server (not just the slimserver service but the whole
machine) does bring it back - but it will ultimately fail again
(perhaps on rescan, or while building a playlist?
