There should ba a few threads in here on how I got it to run - it was very uneventful. Install Ubuntu 8.10, set up the software source, and it went pretty flawlessly. The only way to get Squeezeplay running on Linux currently is by applying a patch (which can be found somewhere on the forums) and building yourself.
