Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Ubuntu 10.04 with Squeezeboxserver 7.5.1 - nice
Sorry, off on vacation for a bit. Guest is used in the mount command in fstab. So your mount command would look something like, /media/disk /mount/point auto, guest -- tedfroop "Good judgement is the result of experience ... Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Ogg Vorbis Beta Encodings
We didn't include the support for "floor0" decoding (the older version) on ip3k due to lack of memory and generally because it's not very common. floor0 is supported on Radio and Touch. Also floor0 from early Vorbis wasn't as good as the current floor1, so if you have the original source you probably want to re-encode anyway. -- andyg andyg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3292 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79133 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Ogg Vorbis Beta Encodings
So sounds like my best course of action is to upgrade to a Touch or re-encode (I encode to FLAC nowadays anyway). Correct me if I'm wrong, but the firmware can't be updated so a bug report wouldn't help? ip3k won't play those old files, but Radio/Touch should be able to. -- andyg andyg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3292 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79133 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

You could also file a bug and include a sample file. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Ogg Vorbis Beta Encodings
Best bet is to disable native ogg playback, and do a server-side transcode to FLAC. The problem is that the ogg decoder in the firmware has some pretty minor limitations, which are likely tripped up by odd encodings. This will increase server CPU utilization and network bandwidth--if that doesn't work for you, the only option is to re-encode (I recommend aoTuV) -- CatBus CatBus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7461 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79133 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
[SlimDevices: Unix] Ogg Vorbis Beta Encodings
Folks, I'm running Squeezebox Server 7.4 on a RHEL 5 machine with my Squeezebox Classic and I'm enjoying it a lot. However, I have a weird problem with Ogg Vorbis encoded files that I have from before the vorbis format was completely standardized. Basically, there lots of static and popping in the left channel on these pre 1.0 ogg vorbis files. Is there anything that I can do to correct this rather than re-encode the files? Using Rythmbox or XMMS these files decode normally. $ ogginfo foo.ogg Processing file "foo.ogg"... Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Ubuntu 10.04 with Squeezeboxserver 7.5.1 - nice
i had a major pain with smb shares with my 10.04 upgrade, turned out it was trying to initiate the shares before getting the network address so i had to set it up static in the network/interfaces section. also still got some graphics issues and it screwed up my XBMC installation too which i had to fix! not an easy upgrade for me at all!! -- trouty00 trouty00's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30875 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77971 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

[SlimDevices: Unix] SSODS DNS perl script problems (gethostbyname?)
I came across a perl script on SSODS page - http://oinkzwurgl.org/ssods_faq - for checking DNS lookups, but I'm having trouble getting it to run on my QNAP TS109. If I run ./testdns.pl www.mysqueezebox.com I get "Hostname is ..." but nothing more - neither "IP: .." nor "Lookup failed..". No errors from the interpreter either. Anyone know what the problem might be - some or other missing perl module (despite the lack of error message)? I assume the perl modules used should all be within the SSODS installation, though I haven't checked that yet.
