Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Community Squeeze OS R3
I know this has been listed in the FAQs, but I would just like to point out how important it would be for users willing to jump onboard and buy a wandboard now - that there will be a DIY kit of the Gen 2. Personally I think DIY is the best option anyway, since it will not involve too much work on part of the user and should be easier to accomplish, than setting up a mini factory to build the devices. So in other words, please give us some sort of security that we will be able to use our wandboards in the future (as a Gen 2 player). Yes, the JS DAC Carrier board will be available separately. Squeezemenicely wrote: So in other words, please give us some sort of security that we will be able to use our wandboards in the future (as a Gen 2 player). The default carrier board that comes with the Wandboard has a value of less than 10 EURO's. The CPU card is the bulk of the cost. So by buying a Wandboard now and the JS DAC Carrier board later, you will only be paying a premium of 10 EURO for the default Carrier board, that you will not be using once you have the JS DAC Carrier board. [SlimDevices: Unix] Shairport on Wandboard CSOS R3
HI, As I don't intend to clog up the CSOS thread with the following question, I am starting a new thread here. After being tempted :) by the user dsdreamer, I have installed shairport thanks to JackOfAll that moved the shairport rpm package into the repo: Code: sudo yum install shairport This is the output of aplay -l Code: List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices card 0: sgtl5000audio [sgtl5000-audio], device 0: HiFi sgtl5000-0 [] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: imxspdif [imx-spdif], device 0: IMX SPDIF mxc-spdif-0 [] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 2: imxhdmisoc [imx-hdmi-soc], device 0: IMX HDMI TX mxc-hdmi-soc-0 [] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 3: Set [C-Media USB Headphone Set], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 so I have edited the options file, /etc/sysconfig/shairport as follows: Code: OPTIONS=-a Shairport -o ao -- -d alsa -o dev=plughw:3,0 I have stopped and disabled both Squeezelite and Logitechmediaserver. I can't get it to work as whenever I try to pair my iPhone with the wandboard I get this error message: Connection Unsuccessful. gregb wrote: The content at the Community Squeeze Operating System link is sparse, without much how to that could be called a starter guide. Am I missing something? Thanks, gregb Greg, there isn't a starter guide for getting LMS running on the Wandboard. At the present time, you need to plug a USB drive into the Wandboard or access your music libary via network share, nfs (Unix) or cifs (Windows). Currently, the Web Configuration Interface only has the ability to enable and start the LMS service. You need to manually edit a file from a command line, (ssh into the device or using Putty from Windows), to mount your music share or drive. Chunkywizard has offered to write a guide, but it is not available yet. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] LMS on Wandboard with Community Squeeze OS R3 - Looking for starter guide
After you have the share mounted there is really nothing to it. You go to ipaddress:8080, go to the server tab, and click enable and start. Then you go to ipaddress:9000 and follow the instructions. You start by putting in your mysqueezebox details or pressing skip, then you point at the share you just mounted and then it's done and it's just like the regular Web GUI. The share is another thing. In the future it will be automatic but at the moment you need to do this manually. If you don't know Linux then this is pretty tricky but I can help and there's information in the CSOS thread. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: Squeezelite - a small headless squeezeplay emulator for linux (alsa only)
I have just started running squeezelite on my Vortexbox with a Meridian Explorer DAC. All seems fine, and then it starts stuttering a bit. It seems to be random, any quality flac. As I am listening at this moment it does not, of course, want to stutter at all. I have no idea where to start looking for the source of the problem. On the Vortexbox the instructions are to include parameters in a squeezelite file in the sysconfig. Apart from making it play to my DAC I have not managed to make the -p parameter do anything that I can see with TOP (but then I don't really understand the linux priorities). Or should I be looking at buffers, or Alsa params or..??? I'm no Linux expert, but I usually manage to make things work eventually. The MF V-Link 192 is an asynchronous USB Audio Class 2 device, which I've found to work reliably at all common sample rates from 192kHz down to 44.1kHz and handily works around current limitations with the optical Toslink from the Wandboard. The Rega DAC is known for its unforced, organic sound quality which suits my musical tastes very well. As long as I prioritize sound over aesthetic appeal, this system could keep me satisfied for a long time!
