The problem is that you need a special driver, specifically for the
Mytek, ('mytekusb2' (https://github.com/lintweaker/mytekusb2)), and that
neither the Touch or piCorePlayer has it, so I am not surprised that the
DAC is not recognised. I used to supply the driver (and a firmware
package - firmware needs to be uploaded to the DAC when the driver is
loaded), with another distribution for the Wandboard. I'll see today if
I can get it built for the piCorePlayer kernel.

Hi,

I use picoreplayer v1.16a (but it displays v1.16 only) and I have
trouble to get stereo sound with the *analog audio* output

I don't understand why it is not stereo (I confirm that audio is only
mono on the right channel) , can you help me ?

Thanks

that would be very helpful, I followed your link to see if I would be
capable of doing it myself but I have no clue of what to do with all
this code! It's designed for specialists I fear ;o)

On that same subject, is there any downside (other than the time it
takes) to switching back and forth between 7.8 and 7.9? The fact that
from a user perspective it's just a couple mouse clicks makes it very
tempting to play, but I wonder if repeated back and forth will cause
trouble.

I'm assuming that more often than not I'd want to run 7.9 for the useful
new features but would want the ability to go back to 7.8 on the days
when 7.9 is broken.

Thank you.

Sorry if this is a stupid question!

How do I carry out a fresh install or manually update the install points
and smd.conf?

TIA

First off fantastic product, I love it, but one question
I want to install motion alongside so I can use this player as a
security camera. I cannot find how to do this though, and it doesn't
show up when I use tce.

Is it possible?

You are best creating a new card image using the create-sdcard script.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: Squeeze on Arch - developer version

2014-08-14 Thread Michael Herger

I think the risk is that 7.9 and 7.8 diverge in terms of what the
database and settings do. The reason for this is that upgrades are
intended to be handled ok, but downgrades are not - so it depends what
7.9 is doing differently whether this is ok or not.

The difference between 7.8/7.7 and 7.9 is the addition of the
library_track table. None of the existing tables has been changed (nor
indices fwiw). Up/downgrade should work just find.

But - as with all schema changes - whenever you switch between the two,
a full wipe & rescan will be triggered. Even though 7.8 could easily
handle the 7.9 database, ignoring the new table. But that's how the
schema up/downgrade mechanism works.

I'm switching several times a week, though not on my main system. But
besides the scan needed it should work just fine.

Thank you, Michael and Triode.

Maybe the fastest/easiest thing to do is just have two cards and use the
7.8 one whenever 7.9 is temporarily uncooperative. :)

Hi ballin,

I think this is a Tiny Core (piCore) issue rather than a piCorePlayer
issue. Steen has gone through a lot of development with the piCore guys
to get piCorePlayer going, but I fear there might be some extra work to
do to get camera going. I could be worth searching the Tiny Core forum
and asking the question. http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/
