Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: Squeeze on Arch - developer version

2015-04-23 Thread surfek

Hi,

I have wandaboard with SoA installed and connected to AV amplituner via
HDMI cable.
Everything is working but I noticed that after some time SoA is not used
it, squeezelite "kills" the hdmi output:
I can see SoA login prompt on the TV, but no audio untill I manually
restart Squeezelite.

Any hints ?

Thanks fo ryour help,

Best regards,

Michal

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: Squeezelite - a small headless squeezeplay emulator for linux (alsa only)

2015-04-23 Thread wiped

Been using this great software for some time.
However i have an issue with hires files, let me explain the situation.
Using squeexelite with Hugo dac.
/opt/local/bin/squeezelite -o Hugo -a 10:0 -r 192000 -D -s 1.1.1.8

1. Everything worked fine on my macbook pro, e.g. hires files was not
downconverted.

2. Installed a fresh copy of yosemite, copied my settings to this new
install but now i only get 44.1 max, everything is converted.

3. To test i instead upgraded my working maverick install (1) and of
course then it still worked to send hi-res...

4. Now i've switched to a mac pro and installed a fresh copy of maverick
(don't like yosemite), copied the files needed from my macbook pro
using same parameters

First i thought i would just ignore this but i figured someone here
might have some idea. My guess is that some file or setting that i had
in my original install is different and will not transfer with the
squeezelite files and settings i copied (that install has been upgraded
since 10.6).

Anyone have any idea where to look for a solution.. I've tried various
parameters but no luck either on the macbook pro or mac pro with new
installs..

Adding *consoleblank=0* to the kernel cmd line options, solves this
IIRC. A SoA user would know where it needs to be applied. ie. which file
you need to edit.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCoPlayer = Squeezelite on Microcore linux. .An embedded OS in RAM with Squeezelite

2015-04-23 Thread seth73

Hello,
At first, i want to thank you very much for this great piece of work,
:)
been using picoreplayer a little while now (meanwhile on 3 raspis in my
flat and one on the way to be a mobile player).
because of a few problems with the 1.19i release i moved back to 1.19
and installed the jivelite by myself (following the instructions from
ralph on the github-site).
A (hopefully) minor problem popped up as i got the screen working: it is
an adafruit 4.3" touchscreen which works (as far as i understand this
stuff) by emulating kind of a usb-mouse input(?).
My Problem here is: it also uses some kind of mouse acceleration. If the
pointer is on the left side of the screen, i just need to move the
finger about half the way on the screen to move the pointer completely
to the right side.
How can i calibrate this (or switch of the acceleration maybe) ?

many thanks for any help

Yes, most of these touchscreens/drivers emulate a mouse. Sounds like
yours is in relative mode (instead of absolute mode) or when in absolute
mode the mapping between display and touchscreen coordinates is not
correct. Adafruit's documentation is your first go to I guess.

(e.g., you could edit /etc/default/grub on a Debian system).

Well, at least i managed (with the help of a microchip configuration
utility) to set the touch-chip to a "digitizer"-mode (instead the
"mouse"-mode), now the pointer moves the same speed as i move around the
screen, but does not "jump" to the touched coordinates, it has to be
moved there and then touched... not perfect, but works better than
before.
I could not find any settings regarding a "relative" or "absolute" mode
and i could not calibrate the little screen because windows (what the
utility needs) doesn't work with screens at this little resolution.

so, i'm still on the search for a better way :)

I am not sure if replying to the private message worked, so I'm posting
here as well:

Your instructions worked fine, except for a missing "chmod +x" on the
cgi.
After a reboot my SBTouch found the PiCorePlayer and I could sync up
both.
Thanks a lot! :)

thanks.

I checked the file /boot/uEnv.txt
Without any changes I had there: "console=ttymxc0,115200
consoleblank=0"
when i check: cat/proc/cmdline I got:
"console=ttymxc0,115200 *consoleblank=0* root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rw rootwait
video="

So I understand this was already set.

Any other hints why I have to restart squeezelite after some
"inactivity" time?

Best regards,

Michal

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: Squeezelite - a small headless squeezeplay emulator for linux (alsa only)

2015-04-23 Thread ashleyw

has anyone considered using an HDMI audio extractor to take the HDMI
from a raspberry pi model 2 and then configure ALSA into 4 separate
stereo pairs and then run 4 instances of squeezelite to drive 4
independent zones? The HDMI audio on the pi has always been superb and
form what I understand, every channel on the 7.1 setup can technically
run up to 192hz (please correct me if I'm wrong).

a quick search turns up this?
http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/STELLAR-LABS-33-11685-/33-11685

I'd be every interested if anyone has gone down this route or if anyone
can see any reason why it wouldn't work.
It looks like some people have done things very similar with ALSA;

Good news skate,

Thanks for testing.

Yeah, my version already had the right permissions, so I forgot to tell
you that. Glad you worked it out.

Please report any hiccups.

BTW: PM worked x3 :D

Sounds great too.
