Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer = Squeezelite on Microcore linux. .An embedded OS in RAM with Squeezelit
Looks like my problem with the RTL8188CUS wifi dongle may be the adapter itself. Tried on my Ubuntu desktop and was very slow loading pages there. It was new so asking for replacement. I have 3 or 4 different wifi dongles and they all work fine, but none use the 8188 chipset, so I can't help with confirmation. I have tried to buy a 8188 based wifi dongle for testing a couple of times, but always receive something different. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer = Squeezelite on Microcore linux. .An embedded OS in RAM with Squeezelit
Just set up a new Rpi2 with I2S es9023 DAC using 1.19l_RPi2 image. Works fine with ethernet attachment but moving to wifi I get really bad stuttering while playing music. I also noticed the web pages were responding really slowly. I am using a EDUP wifi dongle which LSUSB reports as having a RTL8188CUS chipset. I think I have used this type before with a RPi B which worked fine (unfortunately cannot check as gave that player to a friend). Anybody else have similar issues with that wifi dongle and the RPi 2? Nope. IMO you shouldn't put openssh on ignore. You miss out security patches and bug fixes asf. That's why I wrote up what I'd do some posts back. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: Squeeze on Arch - developer version
That's the issue I mentioned. The latest openssh update restricts root login!!! Everybody has to run the ssh tweaks I mentioned earlier. What you can do now is following. Insert the SD card into your SD-card reader on your PC. If you're on Linux just run echo "PermitRootLogin yes" >> /MOUNTPOINT/etc/ssh/sshd_config Replace mountpoint with the path to your SD card mountpoint. otherwise fire up your preferred editor, open /MOUNTPOINT/etc/ssh/sshd_config and add PermitRootLogin yes at the end of the file and save it. Eject the SD-card and boot your arm device. ::: ' Touch Toolbox and more' (http://soundcheck-audio.blogspot.com) ::: by soundcheck soundcheck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=34383 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101624 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

>From Post #1: "2) boot the device from the arch linux image and ssh to the device using the username root and password root" I'm able to update my Wandboard Quad using the SoA Web Configuration utility. However, when I try to SSH in using Putty with the username root and password root, I get the response "Access Denied". Has the password been changed? If yes, what is the new password? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Fedora LMS RPM packages, call for testers...
Charles, I'm being dim. Of course, several cmds are run from jivelite using sudo. They are listed in /etc/sudoers.d/01_jivelite. Update the jivelite package. (sudo sc-cleanUpdate jivelite) Add your user to jivelite group. (sudo usermod -a -G jivelite your_user_name) Then, just the cmds listed in 01_jivelite will be run sudo without asking for password, if you are not happy with "global" sudo without password for users in wheel group. If currently logged into X session. End it and log back in. Try starting jivelite from the icon. Should work fine. All my users (that run jivelite) are in wheel group, and have sudo without password. Still need to take a look.
