it doesn;t seem to allow navigation to the NBow Playing button, so if it

I've had a browse round and searched various threads, but the answer

Any help or suggestions appreciated!

PS I liked PCP so much that I donated 20 bucks 15 minutes after
downloading it - I'd tried Max2Play with some success but I find PCP
just... well, slicker.

Sounds like damned near the only option.

I think perlbrew ( https://perlbrew.pl/ ) can be used ot manage
multiple versions of perl on same system.

lol, thanks for the vote of confidence. But yes, we won't change your
perl version without building the required perl packages. pCP is
currently using perl 5.24

Another option is to use a non-system perl (e.g. installed in /opt) for
LMS. That way, system perl updates do not affect LMS.
I've used this approach on Gentoo (which also frequently updates the
packaged perl) for a couple of years without any issues.

Nice thing, need to dig into the specs a bit more.

albertone74 wrote:

> Any thoughts?

To my modest opinion, the sound output would be below what should be a
minimum.
I do experiment with a 2x2Watt Digital amp connected to Squeezelite and
it is adequate for my needs , even in an portable set in my garden.
But you need a pair of reasonable efficient speakers to use that.
The build in single 1 watt speaker, could suffice for gaming and a clock
alarm, but is unlikely to please you with music.

You could push an LMS and some storage into a pizero set, but it will
not perform fast, and a soft AP needs to run too...

BTW the zero has no standard audio out, So I am wondering what they use
in the poco.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] PiCoreplayer+Jivelite Sound Issue

2017-06-04 Thread M-H

Just_Colin wrote:
> There is no option to overclock with the pi2.

To my knowledge there are options to push the pi2 to higher
performance;
https://haydenjames.io/raspberry-pi-2-overclock/
might help you . Or test with a pi3B if you have that option.

And reading al your tests to exclude possible causes, the transport of
data towards the USB device* could be* your problem.
With high data rates, and relative slow transport you are easy to fall
short in the buffering department.
I do experience this with synchronised wifi players and HD audio files.
( but no complaints, I know I am pushing into the known risk zone )
Playing the same audio in the same set of players but through MP3 does
remove the issue.

Perhaps your WooAudio USB DAC has a bit less local buffering, and is
more prone to this just not fast enough transport.
Jivelite might steal a few CPU cycles now and then during USB transport
cycles, I am not sure.
Also transport to the display might interrupt other tasks
But there are enough people here that can comment on my hypothese.

An other suggestion , while we wait on future further optimised USB
routines, Test with audio files on the SD card.
Reading from Network or USB memory does need reads from usb and writes
to usb devices, hence double USB transport.
It might support my hypotheses, and give us more insight.
And you could eliminate the LCD , and test jivelite over HDMI or
Composite Video.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] LMS without perl ?

2017-06-04 Thread Paul Webster

Running piCorePlayer does not remove the need for LMS - but if you use
the web-based menu system in pCP to install LMS within pCP then you
remove the problem you are facing with installing LMS on a device that
has 3rd-party updates messing up/improving your Perl set-up since the
pCP team would not (at least no intentionally) release an update that
breaks LMS.

I thought it was in the "core" and not something to reput LMS... thank

A WM seems lots just to share music on one device, but it might be the
easyest for sure.

In picoreplayer you can install the complete LMS with all bells and
whistles .
It's not preinstalled in the image but some click and point options in
the PCP web gui and LMS installs.

Running a VM is also neat ( I do that ) just pick a more stable distro
and run in virtualbox or something .

[SlimDevices: Unix] LMS without perl ?

2017-06-04 Thread Gregoire

Hello,

with all perl upgrade I got problem with LMS not supporting the new
released perl and my distro (arch) change it "often".

I don't need any special feature of LMS, only to access the directory
structure of my sound files from my squeezebox radio.

I look at picoreplayer which seems to have an LMS replacement feature
(not certain) and also a docker solution
https://hub.docker.com/r/gfjardim/logitechmediaserver/
which date two years back but could do the job.

Anyone got a suggestion of a reliable solution ?

Thank you very much.
