Thanks McDuman!

The warning on the web page.lol. I just got tired of the
complaints..the whole RT Audiocore is a BETA.

Some have noticed a speed increase.

- pCP Web interface is much snappier, due to the conversion from the
LMS CLI to the LMS jsonrpc interface. Probably 50% speed up.
- The AudioCore RT kernel has a significant improvement in
latencynot anything I did, but I did notice that in latency
  testing.
- The whole CPU isolation thing is an odd conversation, but I think
the biggest thing here, especially when running a RT kernel, is the
isolation of CPU 0. This allows the rpi hardware interrups (like
usb/network) to run pretty much unfettered. Again, maybe it's me, or
a placebo effect like someone else said.

flac and sox binaries..

- The the old sox binary run time on my testfiles was: 12:32s, the run
time on the new sox binary is : 1:23s
- The flac binary speed increase was only seconds, but that
represented about a 25% speed increase due to the improved CRC
  functions.
- These are the absolute latest sources, especially when it comes to
flac, the speed increase is not in an official release, so pulling
  from github is required.
- I've compiled optimized for speed O2, vs the standard Os tinycore
way. Some will use O3, but I have found O2 is generally faster on
  arm processors.
- Some of the size is that the binaries are complied statically to
avoid a lot of extra dependencies. I have confirmed that this does
not slow down the binaries over a dynamic linked binary.

Did the whole setting of the isocpus and squeezelite processes make
sense? I played with the wording quite a bit.

I'll look into your issues, have you tried setting static wifi via the
web interface? We are aware that the command line setup program does
not function yet.

Thanks for the feedback mcduman,

Could you please supply a little more detail about the assign static IP
to wlan0?

Lol Jim.Perhaps we have to do something different there. I always
build the image before I create the thread...so it's difficult to
update.

If I made the thread and put..."Please wait patiently while the
images are built" Probably would make folks impatient.

We'll figure something out.

I updated my two players to 4.0.0 this morning without incident.

A minor quibble, but when I click on the ‘forum discussion’ link on the
last line of the ‘About’ page in the GUI, it takes me to the thread
about Release 3.00. Is there any way it could point to this thread
instead?

Greg, I look forward to the next beta.

I tried to roll back in-situ to 3.5 but couldn't so I will flash an SD
card and be ready to roll.

First of all congratulations on the new site and getting the next major
release of this awesome software out of the door. I have been testing a
clean install of pcp 4.0.0 on the 3b+ for two days now and everything
feels significantly faster. at first i could not believe the boot time
and thought perhaps something was not loading. the whole platform feels
more mature too with for instance the isolcpus option which I have been
manually using since day one. i was able to run lms+squeezelite with
wifi on the real time kernel without any problems whatsoever. i do not
do re-sampling but i thought the red cautionary messages was a little
bit too cautious. some of the odd behavior from 3.5.0 (i.e you could not
control the pwr and act leds from the terminal) is also gone. in short,
a fantastic successor to an already very good platform. very elegant,
too.

obviously i have not tested everything and i could be wrong but i have
detected the following two issues: disable web gui is not persistent
after reboot, and i could not assign a static ip to wlan0. also pls

anyways thanks again to all devs for their time, effort and enthusiasm.

Hi Wirrunna,

Thanks, that helped track down the issue. A little error on my behalf. I
just need Paul to knock it into shape. :D

There has been a lot of changes to the wifi implementation. We expect a
few other issues but we think it will prove to be worthwhile in the long
run.

The upgrade or manual wifi configuration doesn't require the country
code at the moment but then web interface prompts you if it is not
filled in. This will probably need to be tightened up in the future just
like other distributions.

Greg

Wirrunna,

The country code is not currently a requirement during the update. It
is only marked as required in the web interface. So it sounds like we
are missing something with the spaces during the update. I think that
will help track it down.

Yeah...CD player is only used if my little daughter wants to hear their
CDs in the living room.

Regarding Kef...their German support team responded back this morning
mentioning that connection via USB is always dependent on the driver
related to the corresponding OS and that they don´t have any information
about that system.

I immediately dropped them another mail asking for info about the
implemented DAC but no response yet. I honestly don´t expect that they
will comment on that.

Big thanks for your work. It is always a nice surprise to see a new
version of pCP, but this time it is with a new website!

Tested with the Google Hat yesterday, it's cool to be able to use this
card.

BTW, everything seems faster: is it a placebo effect from this version?

Thanks a lot again, thank you thank you thank you.
