Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0
Another issue - on the PCP screen it shows multiple entries of the form: not a valid flac file: (filehandle) Unhandled GUID: 1806d474-etc. size :280 It does also show a couple of named flac files which as it turns out are corrupted - but i've not attempted to play these files in ages, so what is testing them? Also the display remains stuck on these entries and it doesn't show the normal PCP player screen. mr-b's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10044 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111787 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

@ bpa I understand your advice (and I have been very grateful for your lucid explanations, which have helped me a lot, reading what you say to others). It is just that in my user case Raspbian Deasktop OS on a rpi 4b I use only alsa. (Pulse and Jack have to be installed) All of the dac hats I use respond well to hw: and the same can be said of usb (I first used front:). I know of some portable dacs that used to require plughw: and maybe still do. Ultimately, I just try things and if I can make them work, then I'm condfident in recomending something. The point that I know nowt about how any of it works is completely irrelevent :o :o :) :) ronnie Man in a van's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43627 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112025 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Man in a van wrote: > I have used > > hw:CARD=ALSA,DEV=0 > > on the pi desktop with no problems. > > Just saying :) > > ronnie My comments are sort of aimed at other readers of the thread possibly at some later date. I'm on a little crusade trying to make people aware that there are subtle differences between the different ALSA device selections For example, sometimes "default" is the same as "pulse" which means two processes owned by different users cannot use the "pulse" device as pulseaudio is normally per user. There are other difference which may be masked by LMS and/or squeezelite's ability to transcodeo r resample unless users disable features or override them with command line options. Another example, recently a PC user was using "front:" which seemed to work for any stream but for one stream it didn't. User was using a $5 USB audio adapter which only supports 44.1kHz & 48khz and the stream was 32kHz. Both front and plughw allow more data formats to be played through the USB audio adapter. "front" handles Sampling rate 44100..192000 Hz Sample formats: S16_LE, S32_LE "plughw" handles Sampling rate 4000..4294967295 Hz Sample formats: S8, U8, S16_LE, S16_BE, U16_LE, U16_BE, S24_LE, S24_BE, U24_LE, U24_BE, S32_LE, S32_BE, U32_LE, U32_BE, FLOAT_LE, FLOAT_BE, FLOAT64_LE, FLOAT64_BE, MU_LAW, A_LAW, IMA_ADPCM, S24_3LE, S24_3BE, U24_3LE, U24_3BE, S20_3LE, S20_3BE, U20_3LE, U20_3BE, S18_3LE, S18_3BE, U18_3LE, U18_3BE So playing the 32kHz stream on squeezelite did not work through "front" but did work through "plughw". bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112025 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0
Yes I do recall this happened before after a server reboot, but this time I had to offline the music library for a disk check (the bigger disks take quite a time). I hadn't twigged it might cause an issue since I wasn't actively playing any media (obvs). Is there any way of making PCP more resilient to shares being offline? It seems a bit drastic to disable it entirely. Either way, it'd also be handy if the share availability (and any susbequent impact) was flagged somewhere. FWIW I'd guess my mini windows server takes about 2 mins to reboot and for shares to be available. mr-b's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10044 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111787 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Does this happen after a power outage. During boot, if pCP cannot mount the network drive, it will disable the mount. The most common case is a NAS that take along time to boot. This is becoming more common, I can increase the wait time, and also not disable the mount. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0
Hi I see every now and again (seen this in 5.0 too) that my Network Disk Mount kept being disabled. Also the password field was blank, when I'd expect the password to be saved and indicated as such with asterisks. If I re-enabled it, it prompted to reboot the PCP, but after a few unsuccessful times, then I discovered that the Reboot dialogue box had partially obscured an error in the "Write to Mount" processs log page. In the background there was a "Disk Mount Error. Try to Reboot". Then I found that it hadn't saved my password, so I re-entered it and to my surprise the Write to mount page mount cmd exposes my password in clear text! But then the mount completes successfully and doesn't prompt for a reboot, until I click 'go back' when it warns a reboot is required. Is there any way that mount errors can not be obscured in this way, but obscure the password? Also any ideas what the underlying issue is with the mount being disabled and the password being deleted? mr-b's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10044 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111787 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
