Easiest way for the technically challenged is to use a raspbian image
and update it.

Well I ended up reinstalling PCP & LMS from scratch, and of course the
net mount now works fine - go figure!
One forgets how much customisation has been done though - both on LMS
and PCP, plug-ins, VU meters etc. - it seems never ending! But it's
working anyway now. :-)

I installed and updated LMS to the latest nightly - but it only sees up
to Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.2 - 1578996832 @ Tue Jan 14
12:21:10 CET 2020, when
http://downloads-origin.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.9 say 7.9.3 is
available. Or is that incompatible with PCP somehow?

OK, on this rainy Sunday I had a chance to update all of my Raspberry Pi
to the latest 6.0 PiCorePlayer Release.

I had 9 Raspberry Pi in my House in an assortment of hardware
configurations and the Update went as Smooth as Silk !!

All Updates were performed with SD Card in Place on 9 Raspberry Pi - And
7 out of the 9 Pi were WIRELESS !!

And some of them were as old as Dirt... I had a Model 2011 Model B with
a Full Size SD Card that updated to 6.0 PiCorePlayer in place and it
worked Great! (I can't believe it still runs)
Other Pi had Digione Boards, Boss DAC, Hifi Berry Boards, Digi, Digi+
Pro, No Boards at all

All Worked without a Hitch.. I was a software Engineer for over 30 years
and I know how difficult it is to produce software for as many
configurations and have end users be able to update it seamlessly. So, I
just wanted to say thanks and what a great job you guys are doing. So,

Which domain is the Win server in?
Are clocks the same on all machines? Windows auth can barf if they
differ.
Make sure you haven't got a non-std NTLM policy enabled on the server
(GPO) as that can kick out many clients.
Use a strong password as Windows often doesn't permit weak ones.

Try the "Patch Update" function on the pCP 6 Main page.
I think you will find that this resolves the issue and you can put the

I don't know if out of date. I just know that there is a firmware
update that makes the rPi4 run cooler, and I'd like to be running that
firmware (if I'm not). So yes, a way to see the firmware version running
would be welcome.

p.s. I've just acquired an rPi4 and won't be setting it up until next
week. Have already been running rPi3B+ but have never bothered with the
firmware on those.

[SlimDevices: Unix] PCP: -- Does Anybody Really Know What Time it is ? **

2020-05-17 Thread pbroughton

I have been setting up and learning stuff for a day or so, and didn't
notice that the Time of Day on the Booms and Classic was 7 hours off.
Neat, I say, it's Tea Time!

Unexpectedly, the Radios, Controllers and the Touches had the correct
time.

I used the Tweaks page and deleted out the TOD info and rebooted PCP and
all of the players have the correct time now. In setting up, learning,
making mistakes, I had previously rebooted and even turned off and
restarted a number of times, not noticing this.

Just in case anyone else runs into this problem with Time of Day.

Thanks for all the guidance so far,

So this implies that piCorePlayer does *not* update firmware when

I am not referring to the 'tabs'. I am referring to the list of Players
that are generated by clicking the 'Test' button, on the 'Extras' page
that is gotten to by clicking on the 'Extras' button on the Main Page of
the PiCorePlayer Control Page.

The 'Test' button will show each player that is running squeezelite and
the current status of the Player. I was looking at this to see the
different CPU temperatures of each player.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] 'Official' docker container for LMS?

2020-05-17 Thread epoch1970

Trying to put the idea of in-container updates to rest.

With containers soon come clusters, distributed computing.
If one machine in a cluster runs container foo version 8, goes away and
gets replaced by a machine that starts container foo version 5, the
cluster will fail soon.
Shared images have to be the starting point. Container reuse is an anti
pattern.

A recipe for building (publishing?) an image is what’s needed. With the
update plugin disabled in it.
