Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0 - Network Timing Protocol
Most people don't need ntpd running and very few have requested ntpd be default in >8 years. Currently, ntpd is run once a bootup to sync the time. This is how the time gets set on most Raspberry Pi's AFAIK. I think there was another situation, after a power failure, pCP might boot up faster than the router, so the time could not be set. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0 - Network Timing Protocol
Why not have the network timing protocol turned on by default? Especially if it is helpful for running LMS or using a clock feature. Those that want to turn it off for some reason could override the default setting. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0
I haven't done a backup in a while using the web interface, and today I received this error: > [ INFO ] Backing up files to /mnt/mmcblk0p2/tce/mydata.tgz /-\ There > was an issue, see /tmp/backup_status. > > [ ERROR ] Show backup_status... > > tar: /usr/local/slimserver/Plugins: No such file or directory tar: error > exit delayed from previous errors > [ ERROR ] Backup failed. > > [ WARN ] Your backup is a little large - 812653 bytes. > > [ INFO ] Be careful adding large files to /home/tc. > > [ INFO ] If your backup takes a long time, piCorePlayer may fail to > start properly. I would appreciate any help explaining how to correct this, and also where to look to trim the size. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Need troubleshooting help for LMS installation on Debian
I do not have the green Code button on the GitHub page, could it be because of the browser I'm using. Anyway, I went ahead with git checkout 'public/8.2' What does that do? I have earlier installed LMS 8.3. Should I remove it and install 8.2 instead? I ran the buildme.sh script It ran for two hours but then terminated with this message: audio.c:14:10: fatal error: libavformat/avformat.h: No such file or directory 14 | #include | ^~~~ compilation terminated. make[2]: *** [Makefile:464: libmediascan_la-audio.lo] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory '/home/janne/sambashare/slimserver-vendor/CPAN/libmediascan-0.1/src' make[1]: *** [Makefile:274: all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/janne/sambashare/slimserver-vendor/CPAN/libmediascan-0.1' make: *** [Makefile:204: all] Error 2 make failed Janne00's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=72172 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115271 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I'm not using any dongle. I don't see anything to enable BT at the bottom of the BT page (/cgi-bin/bluetooth.cgi). Could you show me how ? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0 - Network Timing Protocol
Nice feature. I recommended spelling out NTPD for those that don't know the abbreviation. Adding "recommended when running LMS so it has accurate time" would also be helpful. If you are using the RPI onboard bluetooth, make sure you enable it at the bottom of the bluetooth page. If you are using a USB dongle, then can you give some info about it. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0 - Network Timing Protocol
Very nice to have this in the UI, and I'd say it should be a mandatory feature for LMS which can get really screwed up with the wrong time and will save lots of head scratching. Also if you have a clock screensaver. However I'd completely missed this new feature - could beta feature updates be added to the docs? https://docs.picoreplayer.org/releases/pcp800/ mr-b's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10044 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115268 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Sorry about the confusion with the git commands. Yes after cloning you need to change dir into the downloaded repository before you can run any other git commands on it. In case other should look for it, the download zip link can be found here on the GitHub page (after clicking the green button). 35959 +---+ |Filename: slimserver-vendor-git.jpg| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=35959| +---+ gordonb3's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71050 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115271 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
