Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0

2021-05-20 Thread MsbS

I spent some time trying to find the answer, and failed...

I use a few piCorePlayers at home and I'd love to be able to monitor
some basic metrics - like the WiFi strength, CPU usage, temperature. Is
there an extension or API that would allow me to get that? I use Home
Assistant, but anything that spits out a JSON should be fine.

OK, thanks, I was afraid this was something wrong with my SD (or the
formatter software that I used).

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0

2020-03-30 Thread MsbS

The question must've been asked dozens of times, but I have no idea how
to find the answer...

I have 4 PiCorePlayer devices at home: three on Pi Zero W, one on Pi 2
(if I remember correctly). They are generally running version 4.0.0 (one
is on 3.5.0, as I just noticed). But unfortunately, the insitu update
never works for me. The errors are the same on each device - no space on
SD (despite first showing, that there IS space available).

Here's what I am doing:
- Open the pCP page in browser, click 'Update pCP' button.
- pCP downloads the update script, I select Standard Version, 6.0.0, and
click Next.
- Steps 4A and 4B are completed correctly:

Code:

  [ INFO ] You are downloading piCorePlayer6.0.0
[ INFO ] You are currently using piCorePlayer4.0.0
[ INFO ] Boot partition size required: 27000. Boot partition size is: 65536
  [ OK ] Free space: 7096005k - Required space: 15000k
  [ INFO ] Step 4A. - Downloading piCorePlayer6.0.0_boot.tar.gz
[ INFO ] Download Location link:
https://repo.picoreplayer.org/insitu/piCorePlayer6.0.0/piCorePlayer6.0.0_boot.tar.gz
[ INFO ] This will take a few minutes. Please wait...
  Connecting to repo.picoreplayer.org (104.27.186.254:443)
  piCorePlayer6.0.0_bo 100% |***| 30540k 0:00:00
ETA

[ OK ] Successfully downloaded boot files.
  [ INFO ] Step 4B. - Downloading piCorePlayer6.0.0_tce.tar.gz
[ INFO ] Download Location link:
https://repo.picoreplayer.org/insitu/piCorePlayer6.0.0/piCorePlayer6.0.0_tce.tar.gz
[ INFO ] This will take a few minutes. Please wait...
  Connecting to repo.picoreplayer.org (104.27.186.254:443)
  piCorePlayer6.0.0_tc 100% |***| 11445k 0:00:00
ETA

[ OK ] Successfully downloaded tce files.
  [ OK ] Free space: 7096005k - Required space: 15000k

- But I fail on Step 5 - installation, with error message of 'Error
untarring boot tar.', despite having (apparently) enough disk space.

Code:

[ INFO ] You are installing piCorePlayer6.0.0
  [ OK ] Free space: 7096005k - Required space: 15000k
[ INFO ] Installing boot files...
  [ INFO ] Mounting /mnt/mmcblk0p1...
[ INFO ] Backing up old OS...
[ INFO ] Scanning config.txt for custom boot configuration.
[ OK ] No custom boot configuration found.
[ INFO ] Saving configuration files.
[ OK ] Your configuration files have been saved to the boot partition.
  [ INFO ] Untarring piCorePlayer6.0.0_boot.tar.gz...
  ./
  ./bcm2708-rpi-b-plus.dtb
  ./COPYING.linux
  [...]
  ./kernel419105v8.img
tar: write error: No space left on device
[ ERROR ] Error untarring boot tar. Result: 1
[ INFO ] Restoring old OS...
  [ INFO ] Unmounting /mnt/mmcblk0p1...

I tried Resizing Fs,but it's telling me I only have 5MB free.
