Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Extreme SD card support flakiness

2019-01-12 Thread Xyzzy

Month later and I think I have a good ending to this story.

First, RPi support for SD cards HAS issues:
https://elinux.org/RPi_SD_cards

Having seen this page the day of my last post, in a last ditch effort I
ransacked all nearby devices and discovered Toshiba's card in one of the
family phones. After short break in the phone's usage :) I put the card
into the RPi, set up PCP and...
no issues whatsoever for the whole month!

So I guess this case is solved - hardware incompatibility.

2018-11-10 Thread Xyzzy

Used Samsung Evo Plus and two different lines of Kingston.

The only thing that may be related is that I have another NTFS-formatted
microSD as /dev/sda1 and it somehow confuses PCP.
Below is inifinite reboot loop that went away after physically removing
the 2nd card.

[SlimDevices: Unix] Extreme SD card support flakiness

2018-11-10 Thread Xyzzy

Is there anything that can be done with SD card issues on PCP and RPi in
general?

Today, after a couple of days of doing nothing (no power loss
inbetween!) I tried to do something with LMS - and got message about
lack of write permissions to settings directory on mmcblk0p2. Rebooted -
bang! - EXT4-fs error. Nothing can be done except reimaging the card,
which is actually in perfect state according to any possible fsck
checks...

I got such issues sometimes even just after rebooting RPi with PCP - and
I've tried 3 different cards so far. They seem to be unfortunately well
known.

While PCP is very well thought out software, RPi seems to be
unfortunately very unreliable hardware. Pity Logitech devices are not
available anymore..

For my Waveshare screen:

cat /proc/bus/input/devices -> find right parameters to use below (like
fbx, eventy)

sudo TSLIB_FBDEVICE=/dev/fb1 TSLIB_TSDEVICE=/dev/input/event0
/usr/local/bin/ts_calibrate
optional: sudo TSLIB_FBDEVICE=/dev/fb1 TSLIB_TSDEVICE=/dev/input/event0
/usr/local/bin/ts_test

Find jivelite.sh in the filesystem, copy to
$TCEMNT/tce/jivelite.sh (/mnt/mmcblk0p2/tce/jivelite.sh in my case)

Add next to other exports (use your own values) in the copied
jivelite.sh:
export SDL_VIDEODRIVER=fbcon
export SDL_FBDEV=/dev/fb0
export SDL_MOUSEDEV=/dev/input/event0
export SDL_MOUSEDRV=TSLIB

Make piCore backup.

Reboot

After power loss event, pcp now starts only to prompt

Power cycling does not change the situation. It seems networking is not
started, as I cannot connect to pcp with SSH.

Hello,

Is there any info available about action bindings for ui elements in
jivelite skins?

I use simple Android remote, works perfectly, but jivelite skins
apparently haven't been designed with remote on mind (like on main

I assume skin lua files need to be edited, but where to start?

Thanks Paul, some disappointment with hardware here :/

And still a question remains :)

I can see there is screensaver for Playing state and for Paused state.
My simple remote switches between *Off* and Playing states (it has no
play button). Is there a way to enable screensaver for this Off state?
Alternatively, is there a way to make OK button on remote toggle
Play/Pause on playing screen instead of going to playlist (which is
duplicated by Right button; if I need to modify skin file - is it enough
to put the modified file in /home/tc/.jivelite/userpath/settings for
jivelite to pick it up?)

Do I need also to disable original jivelite.sh somehow, or just copy it

Well, the issue was that jivelite was picking wrong parameters for
display.
When I run:
sudo SDL_VIDEODRIVER=fbcon SDL_FBDEV=/dev/fb0
SDL_MOUSEDEV=/dev/input/event0 SDL_MOUSEDRV=TSLIB
/opt/jivelite/bin/jivelite.sh &
it works correctly.
The correct parameters were the ones I provided when using ts_calibrate,
and relevant information can be found with:
cat /proc/bus/input/devices

Now, how to persist these in jivelite.sh
