Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] LMS 64 bit or 32 bit on ClearOS

2012-10-10 Thread bert1e

Thanks for your thoughts I may just stick with 32 bit then if it uses a
PAE kernel. I guess I will ask the same question over on the ClearOS
forums.

[SlimDevices: Unix] LMS 64 bit or 32 bit on ClearOS

2012-10-09 Thread bert1e

Hi All

I have just purchased a new HP Microserver and am awaiting its arrival.
I will be buying more RAM for it and want to put in 8GB. Now does LMS
run fine on 64 bit or would I be better off sticking with 4GB and going
32 bit?

Thanks for looking

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] 7.7.0 - r33614 scanning reported indefinitely

2011-12-12 Thread bert1e

On mine the scan for new files never finishes. The only way I have got
scanning to work on 7.7.0 is by doing a clear and rescan the whole lot
then it works. I havent bothered to report it as I dont add new music
that often.

There are numerous posts about scanning issues in the LMS forum so I
figure I will retest when 7.7.1 is out and just live with it for now.

You can find the code right here: http://github.com/terual/slimpy
Please read the README, because you probably have to add a rule to
convert.conf and to be able to stream 192kHz, you have to patch the
 server
 with the provided patch.

Excellent keep at it alternatives are good :) Regarding 192Khz cant you
just do bit rate limiting in server settings for your player? Thats what
I have to do with squeezeslave as I am at work so dont get enough
bandwidth to stream flac

[SlimDevices: Unix] Squeezeplay on O2 Joggler

2010-07-06 Thread bert1e

Hi all

I have successfully installed Squeezeplay on my O2 joggler using this
link
http://www.tarkan.info/20100609/tutorials/launched-squeezeplay-on-the-o2-joggler
and it has installed Squeezeplay v7.6 r8903m and it appears to start
fine.

Now here is my problem my server is Version 7.3.3 and I cant upgrade to
7.5.x as my ClarkConnect server is V4.2 and has an older version of Perl
that will not support 7.5. I cant upgrade Clarkconnect to the latest
ClearOS as it was originally built on V3.2 and upgraded to V4.2
according to the Clarkconnect forums I cant upgrade again. So is there
a way of getting Squeezeplay 7.6 to connect to squeezecenter 7.3.3?

If not I guess its finally time to look at rebuilding my server from
scratch with the latest ClearOS(clarkconnect).

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Squeezecenter/Slimserver on OpenFiler

2009-03-12 Thread bert1e

You could try downloading the linux tarball
http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.3 and have a go at
installing that.

I am using clarkconnect 4.3 on an MSI Axis 700 lite which is via
mini-itx based and luckily it uses rpm's so I just download the redhat
package and install that. You should probably also ask in an openfiler
board.

Good luck

Are you sure the name is resolving? From your other machine try going to
http://ip address:9000/

Also are you sure squeezecenter is running try running 'top' at the
console. Also look in /var/log/squeezecenter/server.log

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Can see music but can't play it!

2007-05-17 Thread bert1e

I had a similar problem on mine. It was because the slimserver user did
not have rights to open the files. Not knowing linux very well I just
bodged it setting slimserver to own the files and subdirectories.

As in I used chown and chgrp.

[SlimDevices: Unix] Clarkconnect Install

2006-01-05 Thread bert1e

Hi

I am wondering about distro's and am thinking of going with
Clarkconnect 3.21. Anyhow I have looked round the clarkconnect website
and they have a slimserver 5.x rpm package. So my question is can I
just install the 6.2.2 RPM from the slimdevices website? I am still
waiting for a hard drive so I've not tried this.

So anyone using slimserver 6.2.2 on clarkconnect. If so how did you
install it?

Thanks
