For the settings on reboot there is a menu item in the pCP specific part of Jivelite to make a backup - because pCP avoids writing to storage unless told to do it. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Noob Question - HDMI output with pCP/Jivelite and attached screen.
I don't remember if pCP is happy driving 2 screens. However, an alternative approach is to run some extra software to customise the output to a screen. I am sure that there is more than one set of tooling that does this - but I noticed this one was discussed recently. https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?116489-Track-Info-etc-on-OLED-for-PCP I think the display part is generic and does not rely on using AudioSabre DAC. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Picoreplayer and HDMI output
I suggest trying the 32-bit pCP because pCP team often say that the 64 bit version brings its own issues. If that does not work then try removing the "hdmi" lines from the end of the file. If that still does not work then try putting a value in for gpu_mem ... perhaps 64 or 128 (and remove the # from the start of the line when trying it. In the past I have left those 2 lines in place and still used HDMI, but that was with KMS not FKMS. I read a description of them that said that they use HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) ... if that is the only way that they work then they might not work at all when directly connected to Raspberry Pi. So a suggestion ... see if you can get those HDMI connected speakers to work with a regular Raspberry Pi OS. If you can then it suggests that it should be possible with pCP once the correct incantations are found. If you cannot then you might be able to get help from Raspberry Pi themselves ... but if only ARC then might be doomed. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Can't connect to my picore install all of a sudden?
Just to double-check ... The system that you cannot reliably ping is where your LMS is installed. If you access the console you can stop LMS (by stopping the perl process that is running it). You can then check to see if the networking situation improves. If it doe then at least there is somewhere to research further. For example - something could be stealing all of the CPU and the system is unable to respond to pings etc in a timely fashion. Then you could remove the BBCSounds plugin from the file system and restart LMS. Then you could see if things are back to normal. It does seem unlikely though. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Reading list in picoplayer ?
That warning is a general purpose reminder ... that you should shutdown LMS properly rather than simply turning off the power. pCP without LMS can tolerate simply being turned off because it once it is running it makes almost no use of the "disk". However, that changes when LMS is running. LMS frequently writes to the storage - and turning off while a write is in progress can make a mess of the file system and if it was writing the its underlying database then it is possible that LMS would not restart on reboot. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] picoreplayer and plexamp headless on the same rpi
pCP is not a full blown operating system like Raspberry Pi OS ... so many things that you might think should be possible on a "regular" Linux system are not straight-forward in pCP. There is often a way to do it but at the expense of working out how the installer works for the application that you want. However, you can run Squeezelite on a regular Linux for Raspberry Pi. So while you lose the ease of use that pCP brings, you gain the ability to install and run pretty well anything that works on RPi. For SB Classic it is LMS that is (indirectly) driving the display so all of the controllable elements are in the LMS menu. Modern Windows Notepad can preserve line endings but I dont think it offers a save as choice. So if you start from a fresh file in Windows Notepad then it has Windows line endings. However, if your RPi is getting a reachable IP address then it is working. If pcp.local is not working (and you have not personalised the host name) then it implies, to me, that your Windows machine does not have mDNS support. By no-network, do you mean that LMS installed on the same device that is getting the bluetooth connection. But the device itself is not connected to the network. Yes you can do it that way..There is still networking processes running on the local device. Create a simple script that waits for the specific player name to be recognized by LMS, then issue the play command.
