Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 7.0.0

2021-02-11 Thread toupman

Hi,

is it possible to have one of the GPIO PINS to indicate if there is an
audio signal or not?
Whit this it would be very easy to switch on and off an external amp.

Thanks

Does somebody know where I can find the answer if this option is working
whit the audio signal? I have searched in the source code of
Squeezelite, but I'm not good enough in C.

My goal is to power the external AMP only if I use the piCorePlayer for
playing some audio. The player is always on.

Does anybody have an idea how to solve this?

[SlimDevices: Unix] Power on and off an external AMP with piCorePlayer

2021-02-11 Thread toupman

Hi,

I want to install a pi with piCorePlayer on it in my main bathroom
behind the mirror. Therefore I prepared everything and I have network,
power and two speaker cables behind the mirror.
The two speaker cables are ending in the ceiling where I have planed to
install some in-ceiling speakers.

To power these speakers I want to use a small S.M.S.L. 36 or 50. My
problem is that the pi will be running 24/7 but I don't want to run the
amp 24/7.

Therefore I'm searching a solution to power the amp only when
piCorePlayer really plays some music.

In another Thread I already found that there is an option in Squeezelite
( -G ) to have a GPIO of the pi for remotely powering an amp via a
relay.
But nobody could tell me if this pin is always active when squeezelite
is active or only when the audio output is sending something.

Do you have any idea about this, or any other idea to get this working?

Thank You

Tobias

I agree. The -G with power save and the software switch would really be
better than a constantly switching amp.
