Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0
So I have been using LMS for nearly 20 years now, and then went to Joggler devices to replace old Logitech Touch devices, and recently tried Volumio as a "modern" replacement. However, it's multi-room doesn't work, and spotify is broken... but then my jogglers all stopped working (contact me if you want one - I have 5 I think)... So I went to Pi4 with PCP and pi4 displays, and it's pretty good, however one issue. I want the screen to go blank when not playing (something I could never get working with the joggler without hitting the power icon). And this does work, I have screen saver set to "screen off", when not playing. However, when I come back more than about 12 hours later, the whole thing is not responsive and requires a reboot, and as this is PoE, that means going to my switch in basement. Also, the screensaver settings are all lost, so I have to set them all over again... I guess I am missing something in my setup, so any pointers, or tips on this scenario would be gratefully appreciated! Thanks, and happy new year! Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0
I think I answered my own question, well, solved the problem, by just doing a complete re-install from scratch. I think the LMS port setting in one page was confused (by me in config) with the LMS port setting on another setup page... 2 x Booms, 2 x Players, 2 x Touch, 4 x Joggler, LMS 7.7.6-113 running on Synology D712+ wcndave's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29445 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114828 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0
I have a pi4 with picore installed, and it's showing all my players bar the one that should be running on the pi. So JiveLite must be ok, as it's connected to the LMS. I can't see why on both the player and on the LMS, the player is not showing up as a player Any experience as to why this can occur? Thanks! Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0
Can't get started... I am connected to Wifi and eth0 I can see the correct IP/mask/bcast in ifconfig using a keyboard/monitor on pi I can see the 2 connections on my network mgmt server (ubiquiti unifi) however I cannot access the pi on either address from PC and the pi cannot ping the gateway, nor anything else on the network. there are no firewalls internally to the network. Any ideas? 2 x Booms, 2 x Players, 2 x Touch, 4 x Joggler, LMS 7.7.6-113 running on Synology D712+ wcndave's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29445 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114828 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Search here for more details. I have run docker and used a lot of VM technologies in my career, however I'd like to keep this as simple and out of the box as I can, so I think I will give the pi-4 a go (just using a spare one) and see what happens. One of the reasons I was reticent to just "try it", is that setting up all the LMS config takes quite a while, so thanks for all the responses! 2 x Booms, 2 x Players, 2 x Touch, 4 x Joggler, LMS 7.7.6-113 running on Synology D712+ wcndave's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29445 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114923 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
[SlimDevices: Unix] Thoughts on hardware for performance
I've been running LMS for a decade now on various Synology NAS using the package provided. My current one is running on an INTEL Atom D425 (1.8GHz) with 1GB RAM, and is not bad at all. However, sometimes on the players the server feels sluggish. (Players vary from LMS web UI, to Jogglers, to Logitech Touch and boom and players...) I am getting a newer Synology NAS with 4 core 2GHz with 4GB RAM, however I am aware that I am limited to ver 7.7.6 at the moment by the Synology platform, so perhaps it's best to go to a dedicated pi running PcP. I understand I've given far too little information, and am asking a far too open ended question, but I wondered if there were any "thoughts / feelings" on: 1) Is running Synology LMS 7.7.6 a limiting factor which is going to only get worse? 2) Is a pi4 likely to feel like an improvement over the older NAS? Many thanks! 2 x Booms, 2 x Players, 2 x Touch, 4 x Joggler, LMS 7.7.6-113 running on Synology D712+ wcndave's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29445 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114923 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
