[uportal-dev] Future of WSRP support
There is a thread from earlier this year: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.java.jasig.uportal.devel/1686/focus=1686 discussing WSRP support in future versions of uPortal. Has there been any more thought or effort on bringing back WSRP support into uPortal 3.x? We'd like to be able to serve our existing IChannels up via a WSRP producer for consumption by the PeopleSoft portal. Last I knew, the uPortal community was interested in supporting WSRP, but no one had the availability to work on this effort. Maybe I missed, some discussion though. I think there is interest if someone is interest in committing either time or money into adding support. The WSRP4j project has pretty much been stalled from the time the standards group did a code dump. The last release there still was directly tied to Pluto 1.0, which would preclude us from using it in uPortal 3 until that dependency is resolved. I've heard of the WSRP project on dev.java.net: https://wsrp.dev.java.net/ but I don't know if anyone has looked into what it provides and if it could be integrated into uPortal. I think you'd find lots of support from the uPortal developer community for anyone who decides to take on WSRP in uPortal but I'm not sure anyone (or group) has had enough interest to put up the time or money to add the functionality.
