*Job Function and Key Duties & Responsibilities*

Responsible for designing, developing, testing, configuration, contingency
planning and technical support of mainframe technology. This includes z/OS
components as well as multiple IBM and independent vendor software products
and tools. Manages products lifecycle to assure operational availability;
gathers data and analyzes capacity and performance. Specific
responsibilities include but not limited to fulfilling engineering
responsibilities in the area of mainframe languages, software change
management solutions, development and productivity tools.



   - Serve as mainframe Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the area of
   application development and management tools. Provides technical expertise
   and fulfills consultant responsibilities for the Application Development
   community.
   - Participates in infrastructure planning, providing insight into the
   future of their area(s) of technology. Maintains thorough understanding of
   current and future infrastructure.
   -
   - Responsible for establishing, maintaining, documenting, and publishing
   the mainframe language and development tools directions and technology
   roadmaps as well as coordinating cross-departmental projects that involve
   mainframe application migrations to newer versions of compilers and
   run-time environments.
   - Develops disaster recovery and contingency plans related to their area
   of the infrastructure.
   - Demonstrates broad technical knowledge of multiple technologies, or an
   in-depth knowledge of one technology including its impact on other
   technologies.
   - Maintains an industry awareness of new developments in their area of
   expertise; learns and applies new and emerging concepts very quickly.
   - Forms productive networks with internal and external customers, the
   vendor community and peers in the industry.
   - Ensures proper documentation of complex technical systems to
   facilitate effective handover to operations.
   - Leads implementation efforts – leads the analysis of vendor proposals,
   evaluates build versus buy, formulates the complete project plan,
   establishes the critical path, coordinates vendors, builds and conducts
   tests, and tracks project progress.



*Required Qualifications:*



   - Typical candidates will possess 8+ years of relevant experience and
   BA/BS Degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent experience
   - Requires knowledge and experience in multiple disciplines within the
   mainframe domain as well as strong application design and development skills
   - Uses best practices and understanding of internal and/or external
   business issues to improve service.
   - Has excellent analytical skills and able to resolve most issues
   independently, analyzing solutions using judgment, knowledge and prior
   experience; develops a new perspective using existing solutions
   - Candidate should have a track record of rapidly learning and mastering
   new technologies with the resources at hand, whether or not formal training
   is immediately available.
   - Excellent written and communication skills. Must be able to clearly
   and concisely document standards and procedures for various tasks needed to
   be performed by the user community.
   - Strong leadership skills with the capability to work closely with
   other technical areas (Storage Management, DB2, IWP, Hardware), vendors,
   consultants, and application developers.





*Required Technical Skills and Product Experience:*



   - Excellent knowledge and hands on experience with LE run time
   environment internals, PL/1, Cobol and C/C++. Experience with managing
   installation-wide compiler upgrades.



   - Excellent knowledge of High Level Assembler, HLASM toolkit and
   debugging tools such as Intertest and Xpeditor. LE, DumpMaster and SVC dump
   debugging skills.



   - In depth understanding of TSO/ISPF internals and commands; ability to
   maintain ISPF user modifications. Good Clist and Rexx exec coding skills.



   - Experience with the software change management solutions such as CA
   Endevor to control and automate application development cycle.



   - Good working knowledge of mainframe tools including but not limited to
   Dynastep, Strobe, (E)JES, FileAid, SyncSort and Omegamon.



   - Good working knowledge of z/OS concepts and facilities specifically,
   MVS, Parallel Sysplex, JES and JCL; clear understanding of the Workload
   Manager concepts. Good understanding and hands on experience with zVM guest
   environment.



   - Good working knowledge of the Mainframe UNIX System Services, OMVS,
   ISHELL and unix shell.



   - Good understanding of network concepts, VTAM, SNA, TCP/IP, FTP, FTPS,
   SFTP as well as experience with the mainframe security products such as
   ACF2.



   - Strong technical and troubleshooting skills are needed to resolve
   complex mainframe system problems involving job initiation, printing, and
   various other problems.



   - Ability to manage and coordinate large scope projects, effectively
   train co-workers and participate in knowledge exchange outside of the team.



   - Familiarity with Microsoft office tools, Share Point and jive



*Desired Qualifications: *

   - Knowledge of CICS, DB2, MQ technology, SOAP, jave and perl .
   - Familiarity with the CA scheduling and automation solutions,
   specifically ESP and OPS/MVS.
   - Experience with Unix, Linux and VMware.

   RMF as well as Mainframe Debugging tools and services.



   - Excellent Rexx coding skills.



   - Good working knowledge of SMP/E to install, implement and maintain zOS
   software.



   - Good understanding of network concepts. Detailed knowledge of VTAM,
   SNA and TCP/IP configurations and functionality. Good working knowledge of

   - Skilled in supporting user exists. Good working knowledge of High
   Level Assembler language to maintain many NYL usermods and system exits.



   - Good understanding of mainframe security and good working knowledge of
   ACF2 (experience with Top Secret and RACF is also acceptable).



   - Good understanding of Mainframe hardware, zArchitecture and PRSM
   management concepts. Working knowledge of Omegamon monitoring tools (or
   similar products)and clear understanding of the Workload Manager concepts.



   - Good working knowledge of the Mainframe UNIX System Services, OMVS,
   ISHELL and unix shell.



   - Good working knowledge of zVM and guest operating systems.



   - Strong technical and troubleshooting skills are needed to resolve
