OT Re: Huffington Post article

Am I the only one taken aback that Walter Isaacson made no mention of HyperCard
whatsoever in his biograophy of Steve Jobs? (Actually, I should hedge my bet. I
am only 2/3 through the book, but I believe I am past that part and there is no
HyperCard in the index.) Isaacson goes through meticulous detail about many
things only a handful of folks would have been aware of, but there had to be
thousands of ordinary folks upset about Apple's disinterest in HyperCard, and
he didn't touch upon it.

help needed

2012-09-04 Thread Art DiVito
Hi all. I have a complete LiveCode market product (for Macs and PCs) with
website and PayPal service (thanks in part to some in this forum). However, I
am afraid to promote it for fear I do not have the requisite programming
prowess. I would prefer a better website as well. So, if anyone is interested
in a profit sharing venture that includes web hosting along with product
maintenance and upgrades, please contact me at artdiv...@sbcglobal.net. Thanks.

Nice views from the city

2012-04-17 Thread Art DiVito
The truth is, ... Chicago is the most beautiful city in the world. Thanks to
Louie Sullivan et al, a gorgeous blue fresh water lakes reflects one of the
finest skylines on earth, with only parks are recreation in between. But, ... I
can tell you this, ... there is not a LiveCode aficionado within half a country
of the place. So, some of you could move here, enjoy the scenery, and instantly
become heroes! ... Go Bulls!

re: standalone size

Yes. That is it. The default box is the Universal. This makes sense. Thanks,
William and Stephen!
Art

Hi,

You probably made a universal standalone. These contain both resources for PPC
and Intel Macs.

Greetings,

William

I recently noticed that the Mac version of my standalone is 7.9 MB,
while the PC version is only 3.0 MB. That's quite a difference, isn't
it? Is that normal. If, so, why? (This was built  on and (initially) for
Macs. So, the font throughout is only Mac appropriate, and doesn't
appear as nice on PCs. But that shouldn't cause the difference, should
it?) Thanks.

pointer tool on Macs

2012-01-28 Thread Art DiVito
My program uses many tools. The first time I use the Pointer tool, its icon is
fine: tail-less arrow with a little plus sign. But then it reverts to the same
icon as the Browse tool (arrow with tail). It still functions perfectly as the
Pointer tool, but a user would be very confused. Ironically, this problem does
not occur on a PC; only on Macs. Any ideas? Thanks. (Also, I could still use
help making this thing a polished app. I am not a programmer.)

icon for standalone

2012-01-25 Thread Art DiVito
Thanks, Mark and Bob. So, it is okay to use the LC dafault icons, but less
professional, right? Here's the thing: I have a very nice, well working,
program and I would like to put it on the market both for altruistic purposes
and to earn some revenue so that I can update it to a more polished product.
Since I am not a professional programmer, where can I find someone who can turn
in into a real market ready professional product, and what might I expect to
have to pay for such work (roughly)? Thanks.

It is not that you can't use them.  It just makes your app look more pro
by having personalized icons if you plan to sell it.  If this is for
internal work then I would not bother either.

standalone icon

2012-01-24 Thread Art DiVito
Is it okay to use LC's default icons (they seem to be different for Macs and
PCs) for a market product? How does one obtain a custom-made icon? Do you have
to have separate ones for Macs and PCs? Can anyone here help me with this?
Thanks.

The regular polygon graphic tool does not appear to respond to changing its
number of sides. It's always giving me 12 sides!
For example, set the polysides of the templategraphic to 6 does not work.
Am I missing something?
Thanks.
