In the meantime he wrote he is using 8.1.8 again, since he also experienced

There is a report in the german Livecode forum, maybe someone can give a hint.

User has been updating via the LC updater and now gets this every time he
starts LC.
He already has downloaded that version and un-/installed LC again a couple of
times,
no luck:

Error while loading stack:

closestackrequest in iOS Simulator

2018-01-31 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

Xcode 9.2, LC 9 dp11 and LC 8.1.9 RC2

Out of a sudden, "closestackrequest" and "closestack"
do not seem to get sent to the stack in the simulator anymore?

I created a new empty stack with only this stackscript:
---
on closestackrequest
answer "closestack REQUEST!"
pass closestackrequest
end closestackrequest

on closestack
answer "closestack"
end closestack
-
I see both dialogs when I close the stack in the IDE, but in the simulator
(iPhone 5s - 11.2) I do not see any dialog when pressing the "Home" button?

What gives? Thanks for any hint.

I can use MY accesstoken on MY machine, but that will not work on other
machines.

On other machines I need to implement the "OAuth app authorization flow" of
Dropbox
as described here:

And I have no idea how that should look/be done in Livecode.

Can this be scripted completely or does the user really need to copy a token at
Dropbox
and enter in my application? That is the part I really don't get...

Addition, this only applies to iOS and Android!

On desktop, the documents folder is on oyur hard disk, to see it on your
machine, use the message box:
answer specialfolderpath("documents")

no, I'm not saying this! :-)
Please read up the specialfolderpath() section in the dictionary.

1. specialfolderpath("documents”) is the folder inside of the application
bundle where we have write permissions!
It is already there, do NOT try to create it!

2. Add your "main" stack via the "Copy files" to your app.

3. Then do this when the app (launcher) starts (preopenstack or openstack)
...
## Stack in users docs folder, where we have write permissions, means where we
can SAVE that stack:
put specialfoderpath("documents") & "/your mainstack here.livecode" into
tTargetStack

## This is the stack you added via "Copy files":
put specialfoderpath("resources") & "/your mainstack here.livecode" into
tSourceStack

## check if the app had already been opened before:
if there is NOT a file tTargetStack then
  put url("binfile:" & tSourceStack) into url("binfile:" & tTargetStack)
end if

## Now open that new stack in the users docs folder and save it later without
problems:
go stack tTargetStack
...

And don't forget to add:
...
start using this stack
...
to your LAUNCHER Stack before opening other stacks, so your separate "main"
stack can use
all of its scripts, libraries, externals etc.

Dropbox help 3 (OAuth app authorization flow?)

2018-01-29 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

OK, now I'm able to uplod files to my dropbox, but if I want to publish the
app,
I need to implement the "OAuth app authorization flow" of Dropbox into my app!?

The user will only be able to print to a PDF and then upload this PDF to his
Dropbox,
so nothing fancy, just upload a file to his dropbox.

After reading teh Dropbox API docs, I have a basic understanding how this
works,
but have no idea how to practically implement this into Livecode.

Any hints highly appreciated, thank you!

You already named it:
the documents folder
the temporary folder

Is equivalent to:
specialfolderpath("documents")
specialfolderpath("temporary")

According to the docs "clear" is just one of the many INK blendmodes.

Dropbox help

2018-01-16 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi freidns,

now I created a new "app" at my Dropbox account and received an
app ID and an app "secret".

Now I want to simply upload a file to my dropbox but what on earth
has the infamous "pAccessToken" to do with the app ID and app "secret"?

If nothing where can I get my "pAccessToken"?
...
put url("binfile:" & path_to_pdf_file_here) into pData
dropboxUpload ?, "name_of_target_file.pdf", "overwrite", "", "", pData
...

As you see, i have no idea so far, any help much appreciated! :-)

hmm, I have some crash logs in my "DiagnosticReports" folder, so this was my
first idea.

Please open "Konsole" (im Ordner Dienstprogramme) and see if it lists any LC
crash log somewhere.
If yes, right-click on the entry if possible and select "Show in Finder".

thanks for testing!

I think I found the culprit:
In the Datagrid Library in the handler -> setprop dgColumnLabel [pColumn] pValue
Line 6094:
...
if the platform is "macos" then put "mac" into theColsA[pColumn]["encoding"]
...

If I change "mac" to "utf8", the header look fine in the simulator!
Did not test the windows encoding, but should surely also read "utf8"

Will file a but report later today.

to be precise:
I copied the text of the label of the datagrid column from the appropriate
field in the INSPECTOR
and pasted it into the appropriate field of the INSPECTOR for the field. IN THE
IDE!

not sure I can follow, I did the copy in the IDE!

No scripting, copying, pasting or anything else in the standalone,
it immediately looks like this way after the app started up in the simulator.

Am I really talking chinese (specivo Mandarin)? :-D

I uploaded the stack here if someone likes to take a look:

there is no scripting involved in my stack at all!

I saved the stack the way you can see in in the screenshot and in the sim it
looks
like in the screenshot, with wrecked umlauts in the LABEL of the datagrid.

No scripting, no nothing actually :-/

I only set the language of the simulator to GERMAN, but this also happens
when set to english/default.

Remember version 7: "Unicode, it just works!" :-D

text encoding problem Mac to iOS?

2018-01-06 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

please take a look at this screenshot:

left: IDE
right: simulator

Maybe someone can explain what I am doing wrong, if at all?
Here is what I did:
1. I created a new stack (for iPhone 5)
2. I created an empty datagrid and entered some german umlauts
for the LABEL of the only column named "Col 1"
3. I created one field and copied/pasted that LABEL into the field
4. Saved the stack and run it in the simulator

5. I did NOT set any font for the stack, field and datagrid or any other prop!
6. But this is how it looks in the simulator and, as I was told, also on an
actual devidce!?

I use LC 8.1.9 RC1 and Xcode 9.2, same with LC 9 DP11.

Thanks for any hints!

Out of a sudden*** the lower part of the script editor diappeared
from his machine. The part with the variables, Find etc.
How can we get it back? We really cannot debug this way :-/

He is using a MacBook and LC 2.18.

***We have no idea when and how it disapperaed.

thanks, I already found another solution without native buttons.
But there are some more widgets that do not react "on mouseup" unfortunately.

on mouseUp pMouseButton
lock screen
if the environment = "mobile" then
mobilePickPhoto "library",212,212
if the result is empty then
exit mouseUp
end if

## Works on Device and simulator so far!

else

answer file "Bitte ein Bild auswählen" with type "jpeg, png|jpg, png|"
if IT is empty then
exit mouseUp
end if
import paint from file it
end if

## When on MOBILE, the script stops here without any error?
## Works fine on desktop!

## Not executed on mobile?
put last image into image "foto-01"

## Same for this line?
set the text of image "foto-01" to the text of last image

delete last img

thank you for testing, it does not even work with LC 5.02, so it looks this is
a very old bug
which has not been discovered until today. :-)

Mac color chooser swatches do not work?

2017-12-05 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

before I create a report, can someone please confirm that we
cannot use the "swatches" at the bottom of the Mac color chooser?

Clicking them does nothing, we have to"re-create" the color with
the sliders (or Crayons or whatever we choose for selecting a color).

Works of course in e.g. "TextEdit" etc.

Thank you!

It does NOT on a Mac, nor will it on Windows or wherever!

I suspect you have the MP3 in the same folder as the stack, so it might work

this is really wonderful news!

Some questions regarding C:
When using an image as a button icon, the size of the image in button = size of
the image with that ID.
Will this behaviour be the same with SVG "icons"? Or will we be able to display
the same SVG in different
buttons at different sizes? Know what I mean?

If that is possible, then we would need another property for buttons (or the
SVGs?) to be able to scale the
icon inside of the button. Something to consider, I think. :-)

looks like the engine is seeing seconds also as a possible valid date.

convert 0 to long date and long time;put it -> Thursday, January 1, 1970
1:00:00 AM
1:00:00 = DST here in germany!

convert 10 to long date and long time;put it -> Thursday, January 1, 1970
1:00:10 AM
etc...

And of course:
put (the seconds) is a date -> TRUE

The line in question before "replace":
40mm2 100mm2 200mm2

The line in question after "replace":
40mm2 100mm2 200mm2

???

Even this in a field with that line does not work?

replace and unicode?

Hi firends,

I am trying to replace "mm2" in a unicode text file with "mm(superscript2)"
but obviously "replace" does not do what I want or I am missing something!?

My effort so far:
...
## Read TXT file and make it LC compatible, this is doing fine:
put url ("binfile:" & tFile) into tData
put textdecode(tData,"UTF-8") into tDataComplete
replace CRLF with CR in tDataComplete

## Superscript 2 in Unicode
put numToCodepoint(0x00B2) into tSup

## But this line does nothing actually?
replace "mm2 " with ("mm" & tSup & " ") in tDataComplete
...

What am I missing or doing wrong?

set the sharedtext of the field in the template to true, but no success.
Empty fields and even header (column titles) on a new card.

I am a afraid a datagrid is not meant to be in a shared bg group.

datagrid in group with backgroundbehavior?

2017-09-06 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

the subject says it all, someone tried and succeeded to put a datagrid
into a group and place this goup on more than one card?

But since the fields in a datagrid (table) obviously have their "sharedtext"
prop set to false, I doubt this is possible at all. Any hints welcome!

But that would be a nice feature, right? :-)
