Well if Apple continues to solder it’s memory onto the motherboard of it’s laptops, and glue it’s batteries to the cases, I may not be far behind you guys in switching to Linux. Not a week goes by that I don't regret that decision: things are *so* much easier in linux than osx. A lot of the standard linux tools aren't there when I open a terminal window. I have to learn osx-equivalent commands instead, and then mentally switch back and forth. I really miss having apt-get. I suppose, but then I could call the Air a high end tablet that doesn’t have touch yet. :-) (strtching…) But I’m talking about their line of Mackbook Pros. If I’m buying a top of the line Apple, I would very much like for them to NOT glue the battery in place. And soldering the memory onto the motherboard is a complete buzz kill. I think I know why they started that though. Ever try buying memory at the Apple store to upgrade the Macbook Pro you wanted to buy? The price was 3 to 4 times what you could get from web stores or even Fry’s. Sure, you could poke the salesperson in the eye and ask about the Price Match Guarantee, and they would grudgingly point you to an iMac and have you show them the price at Crucial. I think someone in corporate said, Screw that! Solder the damn memory on the board and be done with it! Ahhh… Steve Jobs. We miss you. :-) Bob On Feb 26, 2014, at 19:36 , stephen barncard stephenrevoluti...@barncard.com wrote: On Wed, Feb 26, 2014 at 7:20 PM, Bob Sneidar bobsnei...@iotecdigital.comwrote: Well if Apple continues to solder it’s memory onto the motherboard of it’s laptops Doesn't it have to for the Air? Yup. I agree. My Mackbook Pro with retina has 16 GB RAM glued to the motherboard, as well as the SD card. Order as you want it, because nothing can be upgraded!
