Default Buttons in OS X

2003-07-16 Thread Bill Lynn
I'm sure this question has been asked and answered but please indulge
me a moment. In Rev 2.0.1 under Jaguar I'm noticing a gray rectangle
around blue throbbing default buttons. Is there any way to get rid of
it?

Re: Any MacWorld Attendees On This List

2003-01-10 Thread Bill Lynn
What specific features in Rev 2.0 would have made the difference for your
 project's needs?
With the base cost of Director plus the cost of rewriting everything from
scratch, such a migration is an expensive option.

Granted, but I like Transcript much better than Lingo. Having come from a
HyperCard background years ago it's refreshing to get back to a scripting
language that is both powerful and straightforward. In addition, I'm not
confident in Macromedia's committment to Director. Scuttlebutt has it that
Director MX may be the last major upgrade version.

So, I'm willing to invest the time (the $ has already been spent) to use Rev
2.0 but every week that passes with no Rev 2.0 makes it more difficult for
me to accomplish what I need to in so short a period of time.

Any MacWorld Attendees On This List

2003-01-09 Thread Bill Lynn
Believe it or not I just paid $600 to upgrade to Director MX because Rev
2.0's release is later than announced and is still a question mark for me.
I'm faced with the monumental task of updating 23 of my current programs by
October so they run under Mac OS X. I'm just wondering if anyone on this
list is attending MacWorld Expo in SF this week. If so, did Macromedia show
up? They were conspicuously absent from last summer's expo in NYC.

BTW, I think there's no better way to invite a flood of off topic and
perhaps offensive postings than by reminding people of list etiquette.
That's my 2 pence and I'll leave it at that. I wonder what kind of cheese
Jesus likes?

Re: Another 2.0 Question

2002-12-13 Thread Bill Lynn
I fail to see the point of all of these posts to the list. Why doesn't
someone just go to the source then post the reply rather than continuing all
 the speculative drivel?

Another option would be to keep the discussion free and open and skip past
those posts you consider drivel.

Scotch By Any Other Name [was Re: 2.0 - (OT) Malt]

2002-12-11 Thread Bill Lynn
'If you want scotch, then say scotch'
Moreover, I want pure malt Scotch!

Here in the US if you simply ask for scotch you're more likely to get
blended scotch (i.e. a blend of malt and grain whiskies). They're the
highest selling scotch whiskies in the US (e.g. Chivas Regal, Cutty Sark,
JB, Johnny Walker, Dewars and many others). If you want a single malt
scotch you have to ask for it specifically. There are more than 100 single
malt distilleries in Scotland. The two highest selling single malts here in
the U.S. are Glen Livet and Glen Fiddich, both Speyside malts. I've also
seen one or two varieties of Glenmorangie (a Highland malt) at some
specialty liquor stores here in Connecticut. It's not that easy to get a
wide range of single malts here due to the import laws.

Imported Images Are Darker

2002-12-06 Thread Bill Lynn
I am converting a number of my older projects from Director to Rev. To
prepare the art, I copy it from the Director cast and paste it into Graphic
Convertor where I can do the necessary scaling, trimming and conversion to
.png format. When I import these images into Rev as controls, however, I
notice that they are noticeably darker than the original art. Has anyone
experienced this? Could it be related to the difference in bit depths
between the images and my stack?

You can hide a file on disk in OS X by putting a . in front of the file
 name:
