Re: AW: Andre's house - completely offtopic
Hi, A map with pinpoints could be build by a community in Picasa, the google app that now allows shared photos each with its own geotags. The rub is that all would need to have a Google (gmail) account, or else open up an account for this purpose if another didn't upload the photo for you with the right tag. A sorta new Picasa web albums feature allows for a shared web album. Then folks could upload a photo and a geotag to that one album (need to have the right name/URL, of course). Then, those subscribed to the open web album, uploaded a photo to it, that album would present a nice visual effect with map of the world and images, etc. Some hand-holding may be required. A RunRev app could be built as well, either to interface with the shared Picasa album or else done on its own. Ta. Re: Looking for volunteers to create Wikipedia on CD
Hi, There are many uses for a wiki to Rev project as there are many uses for wikis. There is a big need for the migration of wiki pages to wikis. They may not land at first blush within Wikipedia, but they could migrage to any of the thousands of wikis at http://www.Wikia.com. The concepts involve: - a scrape (claw the content off of another source) and - hyperlink / reformat so the content is with wiki markup, and - reposting is simple. But there can be much more yet. I'd love to see Rev muscle put into work for extra elements that go beyond the wiki pages. For example, a sports league could have a wiki page on each player that gives some basics. However when that page is with a coach or a fan with the extras it would also keep all sorts of stats and extra value added content that are too much for the wiki pages to organize. All of that extra stuff could be linked to the wiki content. -- Ta. Trip to Beijing -- Olympics -- anyone else?
Hi, Any RunRev users in Beijing? I'm going to the Olympic Games as a spectator -- and we will be in China for the month. Anyone want to get together there? Chipp -- perhaps the Rev On Rockets tutorials could be done on the wiki?
Hi Chipp, Yes, --- I would LOVE to soak up the tutorials about REV on the web. Perhaps it would make sense to put up the early editions of the tutorials on the unofficial WIKI that is deveoted to Rev. Just an idea. The wiki is a good tool for being 'quick' -- and it allows for others (newbies) to log in and to flag what may be still undocumented and confusing. Ta. What about a Mac Mini and Paralles to run RunRev?
Hi Folks, How does RunRev work on a Mac Mini with a dual boot via Parallels and/or Bootcamp? http://www.parallels.com/en/products/desktop I want to get the wonderful bundle. I expect to get a new computer. I am on a very tight budget. So, I'm thinking of getting the Mac Mini -- upgrade its RAM to 2 gigs -- and get the Mac version of the RunRev bundle. Then I'll be able to develop with RunRev on the Mac side -- and even swap out to WIN via the Parallels when I get in a pinch. I've got a few WIN PCs around for added testing. The Parallels solution is reported to work on *nix as well with the Mac Mini. What's the skinny? Ta.
