[OT] Words of wisdom from a newbie . . .

2009-04-25 Thread Richmond Mathewson
Having been working with gMail and the Thunderbird e-mail client for
about a week
I got a rude awakening when I looked at my gMail account vie Safari:
there were all

the e-mails I thought were gone, having deleted them from Thunderbird.

Hmm . . .

sincerely, Richmond Mathewson.

is your account set up as an IMAP or POP?
IMAP stays on the client, POP doesn't.

You can set POP to wipe the client clean after downloading or keep it
on the client, no? Look at your preferences.

IMAP "marks for deletion" and waits for you to tell it to do so. Pop
moves the mail to the Deleted folder and waits for you to empty the
trash (something I have it do every time I quit).
