Here's another reason to vote for the ability to reference image data contained in custom properties: custom cursors.
I'm building a scaling image control for a client which uses a grabber hand cursor for dragging the scaled image. And I now have to figure out where to hide the custom cursor in the control so the control is portable. I shouldn't have to do this; I should be able to place the image data of the cursor image into a custom property of the control so I can avoid having extra image objects to manage.
