Re: tRev and Win Vista
Hmm, been having same issue with tRev on a 64-bit windows7 desktop machine here plus many other issues. Which is a shame because it has the biggest monitor attached. Don't have 32-bit win7 but seems to work ok on 32-bit xp on a 64-bit machine (macbook via bootcamp). Back to 64-bit win7, tRev and Revolution 4.0 itself seem to occasionally leave 'ghost' processes when quitting, which requires going into task manager to kill. Haven't really noticed this with any standalones I've produced. regards alex On 24/07/10 5:04 PM, Martin Blackman wrote: Actually my bad, it doesn't work on Win 7 (64 bit) for me, only on vista (32 bit, no service packs installed)Hmm For some reason on Win 7 the user account control asks me if I want to allow tRev to make changes to the system when I run it, I don't get that on Vista On 24 July 2010 14:35, Martin Blackmanmartinblack...@gmail.com wrote: works fine for me on Vista and Win 7 ___ use-revolution mailing list use-revolution@lists.runrev.com Please visit this url to subscribe, unsubscribe and manage your subscription preferences: http://lists.runrev.com/mailman/listinfo/use-revolution ___ use-revolution mailing list use-revolution@lists.runrev.com Please visit this url to subscribe, unsubscribe and manage your subscription preferences: http://lists.runrev.com/mailman/listinfo/use-revolution
Re: tRev and Win Vista
Interesting. I will have to try it on 32 bit installations. My main desktop only has 64 bit installations of Vista and Win 7. I use Win 7 more that all the others these days. I have an ASUS T91 that has Win 7 32 bit. Will give that a try and report back. Re: tRev and Win Vista
Thanks everyone for the feedback (especially Jerry). Martin, that might be a clue. The Vista box it fails on in my place is a 64 Bit version. MAybe Rev does not especially like those editions in some areas? MAybe I am totally wrong on this. I got no test machine with a 32 bit version I am afraid. *sigh* Thanks again, Malte___ use-revolution mailing list use-revolution@lists.runrev.com Please visit this url to subscribe, unsubscribe and manage your subscription preferences: http://lists.runrev.com/mailman/listinfo/use-revolution

What happens: installed tRev in the correct location launch tRev, rev launches on edit script the editor comes up with the correct script, but it won´t compile after changes have been made I guess something is blocking messages sent back from tRev to Rev. I disabled the firewall already to no avail. Anything else I can try? All the best, I have had fairly negative experiences with RunRev and Win Vista, re Unicode fonts. I feel that RunRev and Vista don't go together and the combination is best eschewed. ___ use-revolution mailing list use-revolution@lists.runrev.com Please visit this url to subscribe, unsubscribe and manage your subscription preferences: http://lists.runrev.com/mailman/listinfo/use-revolution

tRev does not work at all for me on XP, Vista, or 7. Jerry has been trying to fix the issue. He told me that it does work for some of his clients though. I miss it on the win platform as well. It seems to be related to sockets. Mark On Jul 23, 2010, at 2:30 AM, Malte Pfaff-Brill revolut...@derbrill.de wrote: Hi all, has anyone had success using tRev under Win Vista? Re: tRev and Win Vista
Malte, Mark, et al... Yes, as I put to Len a couple days ago, I have had a hard time covering the different versions of Windows and the different versions of Rev. It's been sockets (primarily) and the general resistance that Rev seems to have in switching from one app to another on Windows. I have been completely re-doing the sockets and startup code for tRev. We actually have a new version that's been in test for a week, but the spotty coverage of Windows remains, unfortunately. Re: tRev and Win Vista
A little background The biggest reason we added a free trial to tRev was so Windows users could make certain tRev ran on their machine. At first we did not want to sell a Windows version of tRev, but were strongly encouraged to do so by the revSelect management. Understandable. Cross platform being part of the Rev credo. This is a philosophy for which I'm starting to develop a distaste, btw. When we got tRev to run on Vista, we limited our support to just that platform. We did finally get it running on XP, Vista, 7. But then some machines irrespective of the Win OS, failed to communicate with Rev from tRev and vice versa after a couple script inspections. My attempts to fix this problem seem to have been choreographed by Charlie Chaplin. But I am very stubborn and will find a way to get this to work on Windows. Much of what I have said here I have sent to a handful of users plagued by the problem of tRev and one or more machines that couldn't start up properly or communicate with Rev to inspect scripts. I strongly recommend trial-ing tRev before buying it, if you are a Windows user.
