Whitout  “;”

  I am trying to get -e option in hive CLI work for me. Looks like it isn't 
straight forward.


hadoopnode1:~ hadoop$ hive
hive> desc temp_logs;
OK
log_timestring  
namespace   string  
jsonstring  
ds  string  
hourstring  
Time taken: 2.832 seconds
hive> exit; 


          
hadoopnode1:~ hadoop$ hive -e "desc temp_logs;"
FAILED: Parse Error: line 1:0 cannot recognize input near 'desc' '' 
'' in describe statement



What is -e expecting the query to be?

Someone just mentioned this.

[root@etl02 ~]# cat /usr/bin/hive
export HADOOP_HOME=/opt/hadoop-0.20.2-shell-prod
exec /opt/hive-0.7.0/bin/hive --config /opt/hive-conf/prod "$@"

Make sure it ends with "$@" no $@
