You could simply change the behavior of the code that processes the input for whatever forms are involved by adding what is called an SECA rule to intercept the main service before it runs with another service that will generate the serial number no number is specified. precision of price fields
This is an issue with Purchase Orders, not sales orders. Our client buys large quantities of items from suppliers that sell in bulk. The supplier prices their products in volume, so you might buy a pack of 100 for a single price. However, our client inventories everything in pieces. This causes the individual unit cost to be very small, requiring more precision. We accommodated this in SupplierProduct by altering lastPrice field to be fixed-point instead of currency precise. I'm thinking of doing the same on OrderItem.unitPrice and am wondering if anyone can think of any negative implications. I need to do this in order to place the proper quantity and unit price on purchase orders. Alternatively if there is a way to capture the "vendor qty" on the order and purchase in those qty's that might be better. Re: Further data security needs
These mostly sound like policies similar to those in Payment Card Industry guidelines, but with a little more teeth for smaller organizations (since PCI tends to be pretty lax for smaller companies, and audits are just a form to fill out), and more general threats of eventual violence that are typical of government organizations. Massachusetts has been one of the more authoritarian states for quite some time now. It's not too surprising that this sort of thing would start there, and not too surprising that larger companies are getting their way and making things tougher for smaller organizations. Whatever the case, OFBiz has been through a number of PCI audits and as long as you follow the non-software policies (like no shared accounts, restricted physical access to servers, various other deployment things, etc). A fairly detailed audit of an actual deployment of OFBiz would need to be done in order to ensure things are all kosher, but what exists by default should be pretty close, and and gaps should be easy to fill. -David On Sep 1, 2009, at 11:39 AM, John D. Re: Some rough enquiries about OFBiz, seeking rough answers
For real "Lot traceability" in a manufacturing supply chain situation, you will probably need to extend the OFBiz inventory/product/order functionality a bit. What OFBiz calls a "Lot" isn't exactly what we call a "Lot" in a similar supply chain context. If you go in this direction, I would be very interested. -- James McGill Able Engineering Phoenix AZ

Server Hardware for Ofbiz hosting
hi Guys, I have a couple of questions regarding the best server configurations to run Ofbiz smoothly to handle about 100 000 hits per day. 1) What will be the best hardware requirements to achieve this? 2) We can go with either Dual Core or Quad Core - will there be a noticeable difference in performance? Some rough enquiries about OFBiz, seeking rough answers
Hey folks, New to OFBiz, just have some quick questions which only require really rough answers, just to gauge if I am going to be in over my head. Basically, at my workplace, we require a tracking mechanism for every single length of steel we receive and must be able to track that through to every individual part that is made from that piece. After it is made into a part, it also must be traceable to the original raw material but also be traceable as a part in it's own right as it will have attached measurement data and what not. I noticed there is serialised inventory however it seems it requires manual entry. I was wondering if the framework as it stands is capable of introducing a new entity Serial with customised names (so for us it would be IND [0-9]+) and a generation strategy (sequence, hi-lo, or any other custom style of generation) which could be attached to any product. This is basically the main feature which will define whether we can utilise OFBiz and in fact we have faced this problem continuously while evaluating numerous commercial packages. Virtual product and inventory
does one create an inventory item for a virtual product or does one create an inventory item for variant product? It seems that a virtual product represents a concept and does not represent something that actually have an inventory item associated with it. usage of feature category, feature type, feature
Do you create a new feature category for each virtual product. Since a feature category includes feature types which include features and a feature itself contain 'Unit of Measure ID','Quantity','Amount','ID Seq Num','ID Code','Abbrev'. I would expect that the hierarchy is very specific to a particular virtual product. 1. Could someone confirm my understanding? 2. Could someone tell me the reasoning for this design. Since the variant product has most of these ProductFeature entity attributes. Re: POS panel for 800 x 600 resolution
Hi, you also need to modify /specialpurpose/pos/screens/default/* as all the buttons positions and sizes are hardcoded in pixels. Re: Error while deleting a Promo
Hello Mario, This is a secure url issue and it will be easy to fix. You can see https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-2468 for more detail and also see commits no. 790512, 790516, 774999. Thanks & Regards --- Arun Patidar MarioF wrote: Hi all, I can delete this promos making the following: In the url.properties file, change the service.http.parameters.require.encrypted=Y to service.http.parameters.require.encrypted=N. The data should be encrypted by making it part of the request body (a form field) instead of the request URL. Moreover it would be kind if you could create a Jira sub-task of https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-2330 (check before if a sub-task for this error does not exist). If you are not sure how to create a Jira issue please have a look before at http://docs.ofbiz.org/x/r. Thank you in advance for your help. I don't know where this error can come from. Any idea? Thnaks in advance, Mario.

Entity Sync Http
Hi, I'm trying to configure entity synchronization. In the sync setup notes ( http://docs.ofbiz.org/display/OFBIZ/Sync+Setup+Notes+and+Example ) it's written to use entity-sync-rmi. framework/service/config/serviceengine.xml - enity-sync-rmi set to MCS. My question is: is it possible to use entity-sync-http instead ? I couldn't find any notes on how to switch to entity-sync-http instead of entity-sync-rmi. Is there any settings for that - like username and password, etc. Thanks in advance for your help, Deyan
