Kindly ignore above email.

It appears so because the form does not get pre-filled.
But added items do bear descriptions and prices.

sorry for the noise.

Re: setting up TAX in ofbiz

2017-08-30 Thread Rajesh Mallah
Creating an invoice for a Democustomer in demo data set
does meet most of the expectations.

The point is (at this moment) setting ofbiz is not a cakewalk :-(
I wish there were some blogs that could spoon feed me :-)
and which would cover the entire cycle.
I have customers' waiting for quotes and invoices :P
which i am not willing to type out using a word processor.

Live Ship Estimates

2017-08-30 Thread james

Team - I am trying to figure out live shipping estimates with Ofbiz. I
see that I can set up the system to use live estimates from UPS and
Fedex. In the store set up I can define what I want the uplift to be.
I have a few questions. 1. Typically we do not have weight or
dimensions at the time of order so it seems this wouldn't work. I would
only have this information at the time of packing the order. I see
there is an estimate shipping button when packing the order. Does this
button take the package dimensions and estimate the total shipment. So
my question...does the system allow me to estimate shipping on the sales
order based on other parameters like order total, quantity of products
etc and then allow me to get a live estimate when packing. At the time
of packing I can see what we estimated vs actual estimates with weights
and dimensions and then choose which estimate to utilize? What about
other parameters like insurance, hazmat requirements, etc

Thanks in advance

James

2017-08-30 Thread Deepak Nigam
Hi Rajesh,

Most of the mentioned requirements can be fulfilled by setting up data in
entities like TaxAuthorityCategory and TaxAuthorityRateProduct, as the
OFBiz tax engine internally uses data from these entities to perform tax
calculations.

Please refer to the following set of demo data. It can help you.

Please revert in case of any doubt.

Re: setting up TAX in ofbiz

2017-08-30 Thread Rajesh Mallah
Hi Deepak ,

Thanks for the useful demo data. I went through it and could
understand mostly, although perfect assimilation will take some
time owing to my current level in the learning curve. :-)

my current hurdle is follows and would appreciate help.

I have configured a new product upto a stage that if it is invoiced
it to "Demo Customer" the taxes of Utah state & County gets applied.
I observe that DemoCustomer's postalAddress is of Utah too.
(so its probably being matched via the GeoID)

Trying to setup a analogous configuration

I have setup a new tax authority

Geo: IND
Party: IND_TAX_AUTH_GST

When i attempt to invoice a new party having postal address of India
I am not seeing the same happening when i use the "Add Tax" ui button.

In the product definition I have indicated

Tax Authority Party: IND_TAX_AUTH_GST
Tax Auth Geo ID: IND
Tax In Price: Yes

any help is solicited.

regds
mallah.

Re: setting up TAX in ofbiz

2017-08-30 Thread Rajesh Mallah
Some more progress:

I was able to apply taxes to demo products using new tax
authority . The incremental steps i did were:

(1) setup "Categories" , "Association" , "Product Rates" for the new
tax authority in Accounting --> Tax Auth .

Rite now the problem is when i add "Items" in invoice using product id
the added items do not pick the correct price. As a result (i feel) "Add
taxes" is
also calculating taxes on 0 .(=0)

Hi Rajesh,

I think you try with a different product also. It is possible that
ProductPrice data is not correct/sufficient for the selected product and
system is not picking the correct price.

was being picked correctly and so were the taxes being calculated.

2017-08-30 Thread Rishi Solanki
Rajesh,

IMO, what Deepak is suggesting seems correct, please try with different
product or share the xml data setup you did for the product you are trying
to add tax.

May some extra setup/price override the behavior or incorrect setup for
tax. Data will help us to diagnose and reply.

Re: setting up TAX in ofbiz

2017-08-30 Thread Rajesh Mallah
Hi Everyone ,

I am referring to old thread message:

http://markmail.org/message/kwygn6w2tmfzvtbv

In my case also i see that the

Base Currency: USD in screen
IN : Applications > Accounting > Organization GL Settings > Setup
with no means of updating it.

In said thread it is suggested to update it by hand , but do we really need
to
do so ? I am generally averse to an hackish approach

May some extra setup/price override the behavior or incorrect setup for

Re: UI improvement for tables in OFBiz

Hi Nitish ,

I feel bootstrap is a mobile first framework and is
primarily meant for creating ui that looks great in
large and small screens.

Given the kind of application Ofbiz is , it is difficult
to imagine much core usage in mobile space as most of
the screens requires an elaborate input from users and
also display quite many details.

Definitely bootstrap provides elegant UI/UX but most
of the (bootstrap based) designs that i have come across
are not dense in terms of information content . The forms
created by default bootstrap styles waste too much space,
IMHO.

I am not sure how much value it is going to add in comparison
to the effort made in customizing the bootstrap styles to
accommodate the screens of Ofbiz which generally have quite
many fields in forms or tables.

I feel if with relatively less effort the the proposed UI improvement
can done its worth !.

Hi Rajesh,

This is interesting and I agree.

Despite recognising Bootstrap value I have always thought that there is some
cargo cult around it.
Notably, as you outline, for applications like ERP. Even if nowadays you often
have access to them also from smartphones.
Of course a CSS framework is more interesting if you look for ecommerce
solutions, where mobile is ubiquitous

I have been working with the ilscipio team who is mostly providing ecommerce
solutions.
They initialled picked Bootstrap but are finally using Foundation.
I never used a CSS framework, but I read that Foundation is more flexible
regarding tables, that OFBiz uses  a lot!

Anyway rather than blindly using a CSS framework, we could get inspired from
them.
To indeed improve what we have already and where a lot of thoughts has already
been put.

Re: UI improvement for tables in OFBiz

2017-08-30 Thread Rajesh Mallah
Hi Jacques/List ,

Further, for mini/micro applications that absorb relatively less update
information from teams on move (say e.g. opportunity status update from
front-line sales team, status update from delivery courier fleet etc) it
makes
sense to use bootstrap/equivalent .

But i feel such application development can mostly by done
by teams implementing ofbiz in organisations rather than being
a part of ofbiz itself as Ofbiz already provides excellent framework
for interfacing.

UI improvement scope for excessively wide rows.

2017-08-30 Thread Rajesh Mallah
In many screens it is observed that there are series of
non-breakable UI elements that occupy aggregate horizontal
space exceeding the available space on screen.

As a result the right-most columns are seen only on scrolling
the content to left.

the problem is more pronounced in themes that have a left
navigation area like tomhawk .

An example of it is when we add items to invoice.
( a comprehensive list can be prepared )

Mostly the select drop downs eat away the horizontal
space in table rows.

I feel this can also be an area of UI improvement.
One quick solution that comes in mind is to place some of the
elements (particularly the dropdowns) below the other
elements in the *same* row.

I wonder why a query on a table should be run looking for
rows where the primary key of table is null.

the sole filter on the below query on ProductStore is:
