Business Story for Point of Sale (Retail)

2017-06-14 Thread Kiran Kuppa
Dear All,

I am trying to see if I can customize webpos to our requirements and
deploy. To this end, I am trying to do a feasibility study and document
business process/stories that are relevant. Having gone through the data
model, the following is the business process that I have come up with. Do
let me know if I am on the right track

   1. Inventory is organized into facility. One of the facility is "RETAIL
STORE". All products in this facility ("RETAIL STORE") are used by retail
   Point of Sale system
   2. Product Store (Retail Product Store) is related to the facility
   3. Order Items are looked up by Point of Sale from the Product Store
   4. Order Header is created for reach order

This is the high level story I can lay my finger on. Am I missing anything?

Thanks.

Hi Kiran;

Thanks for the help;

I've always run the ant build on build.xml, I've tried doing it outside
Eclipse and from within Eclipse.

When I run 'ant' the project builds successfully, but the errors never go
away, if I manually insert the directories or I remove them from the build
path, I get a whole bunch of errors, as seen the graphic of my first post

I tried importing the OFBiz 10.04.02 / svn realease 10.04 and the trunk
version when I import any of these versions into eclipse (Eclipse Java EE
IDE for Web Developers / Indigo) JDK 1.6, I get the following errors:

'framework/base/build/gen-src/javacc'
Project 'ofbiz' is missing required source folder:
'framework/sql/build/gen-src/javacc'

These directories do not exist before running ant, after building the
project with ant the directories are created but not recognised by the
 project.

once the project is built with ant, I get 100 problems of 395 items
Problem 1: JSON cannot be resolved to a type
Problem 2: JSONConstants cannot be resolved to a variable
Problem 3: ParseException cannot be resolved to a type
Problem 4: Parser cannot be resolved to a type
Problem 5: The constructor AbstractConverter(Class, Class) refers to the missing type JSON
Problem 6: The import org.ofbiz.base.json.JSON cannot be resolved
Problem 7:The method parser(SQLStatement) from the type SQLTest refers

I tried it on two different system with two different OS's
I did change Eclipse's JRE to Suns JDK 1.6

I would apreciate any guidance or links on how I can resolve these issues

Re: Switching Eclipse IDE version from Ganymede to either Helios or Indigo

2011-11-14 Thread kiran
Hello Ashish,

I have been using Indico-classic. I had to change Xmx to 2048.

I found one issue though. Once in a while, it takes too much CPU. Has to
do with OfBiz/Tomcat creating new threads and killing old thread. These
threads are triggered due to Scheduled Jobs. For some reason, if you keep
the OfBiz running for a while, it creates many SendEmail and
FAM_AUTO_CREATE jobs. Once you clean up these jobs from job_sandbox table,
Indico stabilizes. I am not sure if anyone else has experienced it.

I have installed, XML, FTL, Groovy plugins. Groovy plugin is not very
effective (during debugging), unless you add the actual groovy folder in
classpath.

Hi Ashish,

I have used Helios for many years. I tried to updated to Indigo few weeks
ago, and crossed and issue I don't clearly remember. What
I remember is I had to revert the worspace I tried to previous day
(fortunately, because previous bad experiences, I tried with an
untouched workspace) . I had not much time to switch since, so I did not
retry. BTW,
this remains me to do it again, but with a workspace copy this time ;o)

I found Helios (all versions, I use 3.6.2 now) as stable as Ganymede (all
versions) but was easier to update plugins (M2)

I simply use the classic package and add what I need.

I did not see much performance change from Ganymede but some new features
following Java and other tools, and globally an easier
daily use (notably regexp S/R are far better IIRW)

Re: Ofbiz explorer plugin

2011-10-28 Thread kiran
Hello Daniel,

I haven't taken changes from the trunk. May be if you have CI server, you
can add a step to update the 'Update site' :-)

Few other suggestions: (Some of these might already exist in the trunk
version, so you can ignore them).
1. Under controller, it shows request map, but not the view maps. It
would nice to have 'View Implementation' option in addition to current
'View Definition' for the view. Similar to to 'Service Definition' and
'Service Implementation'

2. Please use different icons to show services with Java
implementation, as they are the only ones for which you can view
implementation. You already have filter to see Java services.

3. Allow viewing implementation of simple service.

4. I assume the refresh on a project (right click menu), just
refreshes that project. I have multiple ofbiz branches in my workspace.

5. It would be nice to chance the file extensions to something else
and attach property listener so that the tree can be updated after change
to file. But, I guess this falls in broader OfBiz enhancements.

6. A option to see reference of a service.

7. A view over ECAs

Hi Kiran,

You can get the article you want at
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBTECH/Run+OFBiz+under+outside+Application+Servers

For the story of what's happening, see
http://ofbiz.135035.n4.nabble.com/OFBTECH-wiki-generated-pages-are-missing-td3809216.html

and http://ofbiz.135035.n4.nabble.com/Wiki-Page-Missing-td3461022.html .

My perception of the current situation is:

1. The Apache Software Foundation (ASF), the hosts of the wiki, want us to
use HTML exports generated from the Confluence wiki, and not the
Confluence
pages themselves, because this puts less load on the Apache servers.

2. The HTML export process doesn't work very well, because there have been
updates to Confluence, and the export script hasn't been maintained. And
the
script won't be fixed because...

3. ASF are working towards their own content management system to replace
Confluence, but it is immature and only a few Apache projects are trying
it
out. Jacques had links to information on that in the first thread I
mentioned above.

So it seems we are stuck with a broken wiki unless and until we make a
significant effort to adopt, or at least trial, the new Apache CMS. Either
that, or move the wiki off the ASF infrastructure.

Have I got that right?

Cheers

Paul Foxworthy

Hi Kiran,

the reason is that 11.04 has not been released yet.
11.04 is a branch (created in April 2011, this is the reason for its name)
and in it we are only committing bug fixes, not new features.
So it is currently in a stabilization phase; however soon we will probably
vote and create a release out of it.
The first release will be named "Apache OFBiz 11.04" then we may continue
to commit bug fixes to the branch and then we may vote another release,
that will be named "Apache OFBiz 11.04.01" and so on...
When a release will be approved we will publish it in the download page.

I hope it helps,

Jacopo

Run (simple): = minilang
Impl Location: if in Src is java, if it shows xml then it is minilang.

#2 is beyond the scope of what I am doing, however you will have a
graphic representation of the flow that you can click and call up
artifacts.

Subject:Ofbiz explorer plugin

Hello,

I want to give you an update on my ongoing project the Ofbiz Eclipse
Explorer.
The code is not "production ready" yet. That means there are still
features that are not turned on, or not fully implemented.

The project site is here:
https://github.com/rasztasd/ofbiz-eclipse-project-explorer

I would recommend you to checkout the code. Import the org.ofbiz.plugin
project in eclipse as a Java project (You can use Git plugin too). Open
plugin.xml with the Plug-in manifest editor (default) and on the top
right corner press Export "Deployable plugins and fragments". By default
you only need a stock 3.6 Java Eclipse.

After you installing the plugin, you can turn on the Ofbiz explorer
view, by clicking: Window->Show view->Other->Ofbiz explorer

Current feature sets.
A view that shows a Tree of Ofbiz artifacts.
-Projects
-Directories (hotdeploy subdirectories, framework, application, etc)
-Components
-Webapps
-Services
-Entites
-Controller.xml entries

There is a filter on top of the Tree where you can search for:
-service names
-uri's like /admin/control/doSomething (note that the "control" is
hard-coded and not calculated from web.xml)
-entites

There are popup menus associated to these Tree item's.
Service, Controller.xml entries and Entites has go to definition in the
Xml file (shows up the editor and selects the corresponding line number)
Java service has a go to Java implementation.

If you click on Analyze all in the View then every Java Services are
parsed (by static code parsing). It will mark lines in the Java editor
with errors where you use a Service input or output parameter that you
didn't define in the service's Xml definition. The implementation is
very basic, it will only find those places where you use a string
literal for the Map's key.

Re: ecllipse/standalone ofbiz developer app

2011-10-03 Thread kiran
Here are two features that I would like in the plugin:
1. Find references/implementers of services (both in Java and minilang)
2. Put break point in minilang.

Re: Changed breadcrumbs.ftl

2011-09-12 Thread kiran
Thanks for the link. I have created a Jira issue by following the
directions: OFBIZ-4410

Also, uploaded the patch. Since, we have our own SVN repo (had checked in
the code that was downloaded few months back), you may not be able to
import patch directly. But at least, it will help you identify the change.

>From instructions below, I couldn't understand if I need to checkout from
ofbiz SVN using anonymous and then create patch.
"If your local sandbox is checked out from a separate SVN repository
following the vendor branch pattern instead of directly from the OFBiz
SVN, then you should do a vendor branch update, merge, and then local
update in your sandbox before doing the svn diff to create the patch."

I have few other changes to commit. Once you confirm whatever I did is ok,
I will create issues/patches for others. Thanks for your help.

Hello Friends,

I am new to OfBiz project. I have download the project
(ofbiz-trunk-2011-07-29-v1152132) and able to use it build new e-commerce
application. Got it working quickly. Good work!

I assume the project is being developed using Eclipse IDE.

Question: Have you looked into modifying the .classpath to include groovy
folders? I found few compilation errors in ecommerce project after doing
so.
E.g:
1. duplicate classes in the default package (ContentPrep.groovy from
ecommerce)
2. Missing ')' in RespondPermAndPrep.groovy on line 98.

I am able to step through groovy files with this plugin, but unable to
view variables. Suspect it has to do with the way groovy is invoked from
Java.
