Kurento was for my actual system a "not possible", too. I am using a 32bit system and there is no easy way to install Kurento there. Of course I can compile it by myself, but I think that is shooting with canons on little birds. Sadly I have to wait until I migrate to 64bit system - what will not be before 3rd quarter of 2020. Docker images are only available for 64 bit systems. I do not have another server at my hoster. It is 64bit capable - but the server image was grown on a 32 bit installation. As the 32 bit hardware has died 2 years ago I copied the working 32 bit system (which has tons of individual configured services) to the actual 64 bit hardware. And migrating all services from 32bit to 64 bit is a very large task... But why is kurento needed? I can see video image now in browser, and I can see vu meter of audio is living, too. Why video does work without kurento and audio not? I do not hope because of this om is no longer useable on 32 bit systems - I liked OM3.x much and it worked perfectly some years ago... kurento-media-server for 32bit systems
After digging through huge installation tutorials it seems that kurento-media-server is only available for 64bit systems using debian package system or docker. So I must get another solution :(

Not yet solves because my server runs a 32 bit system and migration to 64 bi is a massive task now I cannot do. So I must investigate how I can get kurento-media-server for 32 bit.

Hi Andrea, I do use a root server which is hosted at Hetzner, Nuernberg and I do have a bandwidth of ~2GBit/s. Enough for our school - if the videos are reduced to a small level. Also i Want to investigate if it is possible (and I am nearly sure it is) to get asymmetrical video sizes (teachers % students). But I am using to go this step-by-step. I think the situation will persist for a longer time and solutions are fast enough if they are available in the next weeks. My thoughts are you cannot provide it for all schools using one server. There must be isle-solutions for each school. I know: there is a lack of knowledge which is grown in the past. But I do not want to think about "why something does not work" but "make it possible". I cannot find a debian (or ubuntu) repository that contains kurento-media-server. utopic and xenial gets 503 error and bionic works but does not have kurento-media-server... No possibility to access camera and microphone
I have installed OM 5.0.0-M1 on Debian 9. I previously have had OM in very old configurations that were working fine. But now I cannot access camera and/or mic on any browser. There is no popup that there is a request for accessing camera, I cannot select camera (I have different ones installed) - I only get message "enumerateDevices() not supported.". But cameras are working on other webpages fine so I think it is a settings problem. As I see other functions of OM seem to work (I have not completely tested yet because camera and microphone access is the basic function that must work first). Any hints where to look? Tutorial for using apache2.4 instead of tomcat
I am seeing that there are some users are running om using apache webserver instead of tomcat. That is interesting for me because of I am running apache2.4 with many domains configured via froxlor server management tool that also handles SSL certs so that it would be much easier to integrate om into existing structure. But I haven't located any tutorial / howto...

Hi Nik, sorry - I cannot agree to your "I cannot agree". Most email client programs do check certificates and deny connections if certificate is not trusted. May be 5% will work - but 95% will not (and tomorrow percentage is higher than today). I can not recommend to use any self-signed certificate (except for internal tasks). OK - I see the build-on-demand I know of course *everything* is important. For me openmeetings now is a "nice toy" and it works stable and good but I cannot use it for my purposes because I have only scenario: - one or two "teachers" share video and audio to a big audience - the audience can share their audio if they have questions, remarks and so on - teacher and the others recognize this and can react If teacher can manually give one or some people of the audience permission to share their video, too this will be VERY VERY useful - but not absolutely neccessary for using openmeetings (for me). Very strange I am using debian wheezy 7u3. I tried celeting database and install again for two times - both failed with identical issues. A few minutes ago I started procedure again with writing output of admin-cli to file - and now it works??!!?? I have not changed anything or done anything different way. Very strange, I cannot face what went wrong... Feedback now: seems to work everything! BTW: half a year ago you told me tha in version 3.1 there will be implemented "audience-room" where only the auditor can spread video and audio and the spectators only can spread audio. Surely I have dropped database before upgrade! There does not exist any openmeetings database before upgrade procedure. I have retried installation, but same result: om_user_right does not contain any data, no errors during import. Please can you give me information what I must insert into table om_useer_right? Table om_user_right does not contain any data. Table does not exist in database of version 3.02. There were no error-messages during import procedure of exported data from 3.02. Many thanks for your work! I don't think about the amount of code - maybe it isn't much complicated to add a configuration menu so that users can create their own roomtypes with individual aspects? A switch (available/disabled) for video / audio / whiteboard for the different groups (moderator, audience etc.) can select the room specifics and can be saved to "new roomtype"... Hi, I am still looking for a roomtype like this: - audio and video broadcasting for the moderator - the audience can only use audio but no video - whiteboard available for the moderator I call it "lecture-room" ;) Do you have suggestions about the time for implementing this in addition to the default rooms? I use this tool since tons of years and never had problems... When I unpack om.tar.gz - I got filenames which are cut - and some (in the beginning identical) now are interpreted as "same files". It seems that the path/name is too long for mc and it runs out of storage. I unpacked now on console directly and everything incl. istallation from backup worked out-of-the-box. Upgrading - Error
I tried to upgrade from 2.1 to 3.0 via cli. I stopped old red5-server and typed ./admin.sh -b -file backup.zip in old red5-folder. Then I moved old folder completely and unpacked om3.0.0.tar.gz at same place where the old installation was. Then I copied backup.zip to new red5-folder followed by typing ./admin.sh -i -file backup.zip I got the following error-message afte huge debug-messages: [ERROR] [main] org.apache.openmeetings.cli.Admin - Install failed The transaction has been rolled back. See the nested exceptions for details on the errors that occurred.; nested exception is org.apache.openjpa.persistence.EntityExistsException: The transaction has been rolled back. You make great work! I am looking for this feature in the future. May be it will be the goal to create an web-interface that roomtypes with different behaviour can be created by users of OM themself. That makes it hard for me to modify Because I am able to modifie serverside scripts but I am not able to modify (and compile) flash :/ BTW: I think it is an useful feature (e.g. for seminars) that only the moderator shares video and others can tell questions via microphone but not can use video... For adding this feature I think there must be another field in database where it is stored if a user can share audio and video or not... So it may be possible for moderators to disable video OR audio seperately for users, too - and this modification must be in more than one part of the code. Hi, I am using OM 2.2 and I wonder if there is a possibility that only the moderator can share audio AND video and other users only can share audio. I want to create a room where one moderator can be seen by all participiants but due to bandwidth and usability it is recommended that the others only can share their audio. OK - they can switch off video sharing during setup. What I mean is that they don't have the possibility to activate video at all! Best regards Andreas

Many thanks four your hints. frontend_register option enable was the solution
of the problem.
Now it works :) I think there must be different options for register enable
either in
webfrontend and via sopa/rest - but that may be a feature for the next
release...

I try to add a user using a small php-scipt (just for understanding how it
works).
I can login as admin (and get returncode "1" for login). If I put a wrong
passwors I get an
errorcode... So I think I am logged in.
Call of addNewUser does not get an error but gets no result at all. If I put a
wrong SID I get
an error "you must login as admin..." - that seems to work. But I don_t get any
error message
e.g. when I misspell a paramater like "lastname". The user is not added at
alll...
