A previous question to this list resulted in many recommendations to use Spring's JDBCTemplate (among other fine alternatives) to connect to my database. It looks like an attractive solution for me so I've been wading through a plethora of material.
There are so many tutorials and a wealth of information available, but they all incorporate many many features of Spring that I'm not ready to tackle yet. I'm having trouble discerning which configuration pieces are really necessary just to use JDBCTemplate. I'm asking this group because I'm using JSF/Shale and I'm not sure how my choice of framework will affect the Spring configuration. Could you tell me the minimum pieces I need to assemble to employ JDBCTemplate?
