Mac OS X and Linux versions are proceeding well. Right now, it seems
that they will be released after some weeks, when we get the SP1
ready. In other words, the releases will represent the same
SP1 build as the next update for the Windows version.

That sounds cool! Thanks for the info!

  Hi there,

any news about the Mac OS X port of Realsoft 3D V6? Would be lovely to
finally start playing around with it (have the Windows version already, but it
doesn't run very well in VMWare ;-) ).

Also: Any news on Connexion SpaceNavigator support? I'm really having a hard
time working with 3D software that doesn't support a 3D mouse (once you've
tried it, you're hooked... at least... I was ;-) ).

Re: Realsoft V6 slowing down bug?

2007-12-20 Thread Mark Heuymans
I can't confirm these problems after a few hours of playing (32 bit
version)... a few freezes because I tried to do too much at once while
rendering with all cores.

First I had a look at some old GI projects - wow, it seems they solved the
glass/chrome problem; the 'smart blur' is also a great improvement! And is
it my imagination or does V6 render much faster than V5? :)
The new AO shader is great too, even my geometry-heavy Ivy projects are easy
to render with AO, this produces much more depth in the leaf masses.
Architecture and landscape guys are served really well by RS, I feel like a
spoilt little kid!

cheers, back to V6,
Mark H

Yes, I have similar problems, not exactly the ones you describe though.
Realsoft is looking into them I believe.
But have you had a look at OGL? Booleans with very few artefacts and trim
curves that nearly represent the raytraced result`. It's taken a while but
object geometry in OGL does not seem to be an issue anymore!

Frank Bueters

Hi!

I've been playing with V6 now from 11:00 am - 18:00 pm :)

I am using WinXP SP2 and over this period RS V6 seems to be slower and
slower.
Also Network rendering server on my second Core 2 Duo machine has crashed
several times. I have been testing RS V6 with my old scenes and also with
the new example files. I try to make better examples for what was happening
while RS crashed.

Has anyone else had these same proplems?

Anyway the new version is really cool. Raytracing quality is so much better
than with the older V 5.

V6.
Could we have slight example? Pleeease :)
- Metaball supports the use of the link object (actual metaballs
can be

outside the metaball level)
- Triangular rendering and real time preview show particle generated
metaball surface*

I made a quick demo about particles, metaballs and links (8 MB flash

  Hi, Jan

Can you use particles generated by realflow to animate water this way?

Currently this is not possible, you have to use the actual surface generated
in realflow.

Here's an example (only in draft render quality, sorry):

  http://www.realsoft.fi/private/vasefluid2.avi

The whole simulation and water shape is created in realflow.

Realflow is awesome ! I've experimented with RF in Blender
using the free 'Lite' version from 3DWorld . Looking forward
to V6 experiments too .

However , RS V6 metaballs might give RealFlow a run for
it's money in certain situations , from what I can see from
that particle demonstration tute recently posted here .
