Hi, Cloudstack4.2貌似有一个bug,就是可以添加CPU频率等于2GHZ的双核的compute offering,但就是无法用这个compute offering启动虚拟机。但事实上我宿主机的CPU主频远远大于2GHZ。大家有时间的话帮我看看我的log吧,虽然说有点长,但描述了创建虚拟机的全过程,其中我觉得可疑的cpuOverprovisioningFactor: 1.0已经红色标记了,有没有人知道原因的帮我解释一下,谢谢啦!:) 2013-11-19 17:22:32,651 DEBUG [cloud.api.ApiServlet] (catalina-exec-2:null) ===END=== 10.10.15.18 -- GET command=deployVirtualMachinezoneId=de6081ca-0f25-44f0-aeec-81d0a844329etemplateId=f4a9b927-247c-429c-a0fe-e660c3f2dd23hypervisor=KVMserviceOfferingId=27287f8b-a488-4350-8b70-e57719f22b3bdiskOfferingId=43feaa9e-f7bd-4805-825a-d8527430ec02networkIds=6d4ca91d-cf83-4d71-9c3c-0b4df343b3bddisplayname=tfxt-222name=tfxt-222response=jsonsessionkey=kYuQ4zESaE%2FqGV%2Bjat8gMC4vI8Y%3D_=1384852954050 2013-11-19 17:22:32,655 DEBUG [cloud.api.ApiDispatcher] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) InfrastructureEntity name is:com.cloud.offering.ServiceOffering 2013-11-19 17:22:32,656 DEBUG [cloud.api.ApiDispatcher] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) ControlledEntity name is:com.cloud.template.VirtualMachineTemplate 2013-11-19 17:22:32,659 DEBUG [cloud.api.ApiDispatcher] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) ControlledEntity name is:com.cloud.network.Network 2013-11-19 17:22:32,661 DEBUG [cloud.api.ApiDispatcher] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) InfrastructureEntity name is:com.cloud.offering.DiskOffering 2013-11-19 17:22:32,678 DEBUG [cloud.network.NetworkModelImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Service SecurityGroup is not supported in the network id=204 2013-11-19 17:22:32,681 DEBUG [cloud.network.NetworkModelImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Service SecurityGroup is not supported in the network id=204 2013-11-19 17:22:32,695 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Deploy avoids pods: [], clusters: [], hosts: [] 2013-11-19 17:22:32,697 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) DeploymentPlanner allocation algorithm: com.cloud.deploy.FirstFitPlanner_EnhancerByCloudStack_1ff4f9d9@303802fb 2013-11-19 17:22:32,697 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Trying to allocate a host and storage pools from dc:1, pod:null,cluster:null, requested cpu: 4400, requested ram: 2147483648 2013-11-19 17:22:32,697 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Is ROOT volume READY (pool already allocated)?: No 2013-11-19 17:22:32,697 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.FirstFitPlanner] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Searching all possible resources under this Zone: 1 2013-11-19 17:22:32,698 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.FirstFitPlanner] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Listing clusters in order of aggregate capacity, that have (atleast one host with) enough CPU and RAM capacity under this Zone: 1 2013-11-19 17:22:32,700 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.FirstFitPlanner] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Removing from the clusterId list these clusters from avoid set: [] 2013-11-19 17:22:32,706 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Checking resources in Cluster: 1 under Pod: 1 2013-11-19 17:22:32,708 DEBUG [allocator.impl.FirstFitAllocator] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ] FirstFitRoutingAllocator) Looking for hosts in dc: 1 pod:1 cluster:1 2013-11-19 17:22:32,711 DEBUG [allocator.impl.FirstFitAllocator] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ] FirstFitRoutingAllocator) FirstFitAllocator has 1 hosts to check for allocation: [Host[-3-Routing]] 2013-11-19 17:22:32,713 DEBUG [allocator.impl.FirstFitAllocator] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ] FirstFitRoutingAllocator) Found 1 hosts for allocation after prioritization: [Host[-3-Routing]] 2013-11-19 17:22:32,713 DEBUG [allocator.impl.FirstFitAllocator] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ] FirstFitRoutingAllocator) Looking for speed=4400Mhz, Ram=2048 2013-11-19 17:22:32,718 DEBUG [cloud.capacity.CapacityManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ] FirstFitRoutingAllocator) Checking if host: 3 has enough capacity for requested CPU: 4400 and requested RAM: 2147483648 , cpuOverprovisioningFactor: 1.0 2013-11-19 17:22:32,720 DEBUG [cloud.capacity.CapacityManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ] FirstFitRoutingAllocator) Hosts's actual total CPU: 64000 and CPU after applying overprovisioning: 64000 2013-11-19 17:22:32,720 DEBUG

Hi all, I meet a problem in cloudstack4.2 that I am unbale to start vm with cpu clock larger than 2GHZ per core while My host's CPU clock is about 64GHZ.The strange thing is that I cant start a VM which have two cores and each core 1.5HZ.My log is pasted below,it's a bit long and I have colored the suspicious line like cpuOverprovisioningFactor: 1.0.Can anyone help me explain this scene and provide me with some suggestions?Thank you in advance! 2013-11-19 17:22:32,651 DEBUG [cloud.api.ApiServlet] (catalina-exec-2:null) ===END=== 10.10.15.18 -- GET command=deployVirtualMachinezoneId=de6081ca-0f25-44f0-aeec-81d0a844329etemplateId=f4a9b927-247c-429c-a0fe-e660c3f2dd23hypervisor=KVMserviceOfferingId=27287f8b-a488-4350-8b70-e57719f22b3bdiskOfferingId=43feaa9e-f7bd-4805-825a-d8527430ec02networkIds=6d4ca91d-cf83-4d71-9c3c-0b4df343b3bddisplayname=tfxt-222name=tfxt-222response=jsonsessionkey=kYuQ4zESaE%2FqGV%2Bjat8gMC4vI8Y%3D_=1384852954050 2013-11-19 17:22:32,655 DEBUG [cloud.api.ApiDispatcher] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) InfrastructureEntity name is:com.cloud.offering.ServiceOffering 2013-11-19 17:22:32,656 DEBUG [cloud.api.ApiDispatcher] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) ControlledEntity name is:com.cloud.template.VirtualMachineTemplate 2013-11-19 17:22:32,659 DEBUG [cloud.api.ApiDispatcher] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) ControlledEntity name is:com.cloud.network.Network 2013-11-19 17:22:32,661 DEBUG [cloud.api.ApiDispatcher] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) InfrastructureEntity name is:com.cloud.offering.DiskOffering 2013-11-19 17:22:32,678 DEBUG [cloud.network.NetworkModelImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Service SecurityGroup is not supported in the network id=204 2013-11-19 17:22:32,681 DEBUG [cloud.network.NetworkModelImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Service SecurityGroup is not supported in the network id=204 2013-11-19 17:22:32,695 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Deploy avoids pods: [], clusters: [], hosts: [] 2013-11-19 17:22:32,697 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) DeploymentPlanner allocation algorithm: com.cloud.deploy.FirstFitPlanner_EnhancerByCloudStack_1ff4f9d9@303802fb 2013-11-19 17:22:32,697 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Trying to allocate a host and storage pools from dc:1, pod:null,cluster:null, requested cpu: 4400, requested ram: 2147483648 2013-11-19 17:22:32,697 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Is ROOT volume READY (pool already allocated)?: No 2013-11-19 17:22:32,697 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.FirstFitPlanner] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Searching all possible resources under this Zone: 1 2013-11-19 17:22:32,698 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.FirstFitPlanner] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Listing clusters in order of aggregate capacity, that have (atleast one host with) enough CPU and RAM capacity under this Zone: 1 2013-11-19 17:22:32,700 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.FirstFitPlanner] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Removing from the clusterId list these clusters from avoid set: [] 2013-11-19 17:22:32,706 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Checking resources in Cluster: 1 under Pod: 1 2013-11-19 17:22:32,708 DEBUG [allocator.impl.FirstFitAllocator] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ] FirstFitRoutingAllocator) Looking for hosts in dc: 1 pod:1 cluster:1 2013-11-19 17:22:32,711 DEBUG [allocator.impl.FirstFitAllocator] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ] FirstFitRoutingAllocator) FirstFitAllocator has 1 hosts to check for allocation: [Host[-3-Routing]] 2013-11-19 17:22:32,713 DEBUG [allocator.impl.FirstFitAllocator] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ] FirstFitRoutingAllocator) Found 1 hosts for allocation after prioritization: [Host[-3-Routing]] 2013-11-19 17:22:32,713 DEBUG [allocator.impl.FirstFitAllocator] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ] FirstFitRoutingAllocator) Looking for speed=4400Mhz, Ram=2048 2013-11-19 17:22:32,718 DEBUG [cloud.capacity.CapacityManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ] FirstFitRoutingAllocator) Checking if host: 3 has enough capacity for requested CPU: 4400 and requested RAM: 2147483648 , cpuOverprovisioningFactor: 1.0 2013-11-19 17:22:32,720 DEBUG [cloud.capacity.CapacityManagerImpl]
Re: 回复:无法添加CPU频率大于2GHZ的虚拟机

Best regards, DuJun 2013/11/19 Wei ZHOU ustcweiz...@gmail.com 是这样的。cloudstack里面有判断。其实看看代码就都清楚了。 2013/11/19 Du Jun dj199...@gmail.com 经你们提醒,好像这个问题是解释得通的,就是虚拟机CPU每个核的主频必须小于物理机单核的主频。谢谢!恍然大悟! 2013/11/19 Du Jun dj199...@gmail.com Hi Luo, 你的意思是你可以启动每个核为2GHZ,但核数为n(n=2)的虚拟机?请问你用的cloudstack是什么版本?谢谢! -- Best regards, DuJun 2013/11/19 Xuan Luo 465296...@qq.com 你好! 我也遇到过这个问题。我发现如果服务器(物理机)的单个核是2G,那就只能做2G的倍数的服务方案,例如2核总共就是4G,3核就是6G。所以你做requested cpu:4400就会找不到合适的Host,找的时候会出现 cpuFreqGood:false,VM也无法启动。把4400改成2000的倍数试试看\(^o^)/~ -- 原始邮件 -- 发件人: Du Jun; 发送时间: 2013年11月19日(星期二) 下午5:36 收件人: users-cn; 主题: 无法添加CPU频率大于2GHZ的虚拟机 Hi, Cloudstack4.2貌似有一个bug,就是可以添加CPU频率等于2GHZ的双核的compute offering,但就是无法用这个compute offering启动虚拟机。但事实上我宿主机的CPU主频远远大于2GHZ。大家有时间的话帮我看看我的log吧,虽然说有点长,但描述了创建虚拟机的全过程,其中我觉得可疑的cpuOverprovisioningFactor: 1.0已经红色标记了,有没有人知道原因的帮我解释一下,谢谢啦!:) 2013-11-19 17:22:32,651 DEBUG [cloud.api.ApiServlet] (catalina-exec-2:null) ===END=== 10.10.15.18 -- GET command=deployVirtualMachinezoneId=de6081ca-0f25-44f0-aeec-81d0a844329etemplateId=f4a9b927-247c-429c-a0fe-e660c3f2dd23hypervisor=KVMserviceOfferingId=27287f8b-a488-4350-8b70-e57719f22b3bdiskOfferingId=43feaa9e-f7bd-4805-825a-d8527430ec02networkIds=6d4ca91d-cf83-4d71-9c3c-0b4df343b3bddisplayname=tfxt-222name=tfxt-222response=jsonsessionkey=kYuQ4zESaE%2FqGV%2Bjat8gMC4vI8Y%3D_=1384852954050 2013-11-19 17:22:32,655 DEBUG [cloud.api.ApiDispatcher] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) InfrastructureEntity name is:com.cloud.offering.ServiceOffering 2013-11-19 17:22:32,656 DEBUG [cloud.api.ApiDispatcher] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) ControlledEntity name is:com.cloud.template.VirtualMachineTemplate 2013-11-19 17:22:32,659 DEBUG [cloud.api.ApiDispatcher] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) ControlledEntity name is:com.cloud.network.Network 2013-11-19 17:22:32,661 DEBUG [cloud.api.ApiDispatcher] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) InfrastructureEntity name is:com.cloud.offering.DiskOffering 2013-11-19 17:22:32,678 DEBUG [cloud.network.NetworkModelImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Service SecurityGroup is not supported in the network id=204 2013-11-19 17:22:32,681 DEBUG [cloud.network.NetworkModelImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Service SecurityGroup is not supported in the network id=204 2013-11-19 17:22:32,695 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Deploy avoids pods: [], clusters: [], hosts: [] 2013-11-19 17:22:32,697 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) DeploymentPlanner allocation algorithm: com.cloud.deploy.FirstFitPlanner_EnhancerByCloudStack_1ff4f9d9@303802fb 2013-11-19 17:22:32,697 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Trying to allocate a host and storage pools from dc:1, pod:null,cluster:null, requested cpu: 4400, requested ram: 2147483648 2013-11-19 17:22:32,697 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Is ROOT volume READY (pool already allocated)?: No 2013-11-19 17:22:32,697 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.FirstFitPlanner] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Searching all possible resources under this Zone: 1 2013-11-19 17:22:32,698 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.FirstFitPlanner] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Listing clusters in order of aggregate capacity, that have (atleast one host with) enough CPU and RAM capacity under this Zone: 1 2013-11-19 17:22:32,700 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.FirstFitPlanner] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Removing from the clusterId list these clusters from avoid set: [] 2013-11-19 17:22:32,706 DEBUG [cloud.deploy.DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ]) Checking resources in Cluster: 1 under Pod: 1 2013-11-19 17:22:32,708 DEBUG [allocator.impl.FirstFitAllocator] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ] FirstFitRoutingAllocator) Looking for hosts in dc: 1 pod:1 cluster:1 2013-11-19 17:22:32,711 DEBUG [allocator.impl.FirstFitAllocator] (Job-Executor-2:job-34 = [ 9b789b8d-055f-4077-a135-481d6d91b831 ] FirstFitRoutingAllocator) FirstFitAllocator has 1 hosts to

Re: Guest VMs not able to acquire DHCP IP from Virtual Router unless Guest and VR are on the same KVM host
Good Morning David, I'm not sure if you saw my reply from yesterday, but I'm now 99% sure the problem is on our default router/dhcp server on 10.97.38.1. I think we did everything we're supposed to to mitigate the normal issues you would expect from having two competing DHCP servers on the same network. We went by your instructions http://open.citrix.com/blog/42-tip-of-the-month-external-dhcp-server-and-cloudstack-on-the-same-network.html Perhaps we implemented the filtering incorrectly? My bosses are getting anxious with me and I don't have an answer for them yet. Any further help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. I monitored the physical KVM host running the VR, but it never registered the DHCPREQUEST regardless of where the guest VM was running. I even turned off the firewall on both KVM Hosts and still no DHCPREQUEST. There actually is another physical DHCP server on the same network. *10.97.38.1 Router DHCP* However we (corporate IT Admin) have blocked off a range of IPs {10.97.38.[110 -170]} from the 10.97.38.1 Router DHCP and filtered out any DHCPREQUESTS made by a '06' MAC address per these instructions (written by you I believe): http://open.citrix.com/blog/42-tip-of-the-month-external-dhcp-server-and-cloudstack-on-the-same-network.html So that tells me that we probably did something wrong on the router and it's got to be the 10.97.38.1 Router/Switch/DHCP server that's stopping those requests from ever reaching the built in VR, but I have no visibility into that unfortunately so I cannot continue to test. Re: Guest VMs not able to acquire DHCP IP from Virtual Router unless Guest and VR are on the same KVM host
Since DHCP leases aren't something that immediately go away you could temporarily stop DHCP services on your default router and see if that allows CS instances to pull IPs correctly then enable your default DHCP server again once you know more. That would eliminate your default router from the possible causes list if nothing changes or confirm it if things start working correctly in your CS environment. Re: CloudStack secondary storage capacity issue
So I did some more digging, and found out that I couldn't mount my drive correctly via the SSVM either. It takes extremely long time to mount it, and it seems like the routes are all messed up so it's not correctly mounting it in the end either. It seems that my management and storage networks are not separated in CloudStack. My SAN storage network is on 172.30.11. and management on 10.100.38. The SSVM tries to route the traffic for my SAN storage over my management network. It seems like it's using IP's from the range specified for my management network. I've added the SAN ip range to PhysicalNetworksInBasicZone-Storage but that doesn't seem to have any effect at all. root@s-19-VM:~# ip route default via 10.100.38.129 dev eth2 10.100.32.20 via 10.100.38.129 dev eth1 10.100.37.26 via 10.100.38.129 dev eth1 10.100.38.128/25 dev eth1 proto kernel scope link src 10.100.38.130 10.100.38.128/25 dev eth2 proto kernel scope link src 10.100.38.135 10.100.38.128/25 dev eth3 proto kernel scope link src 10.100.38.131 169.254.0.0/16 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 169.254.0.167 172.30.11.20 via 10.100.38.129 dev eth1 How do I configure the SSVM to use 172.30.11. network for SAN? 2013/11/19 Magnus Janson mag...@fnutt.us Hi All, I'm having an issue with CloudStack 4.2 (KVM) and secondary storage. Re: Guest VMs not able to acquire DHCP IP from Virtual Router unless Guest and VR are on the same KVM host
Adam, Any chance of getting your own /24 VLAN without DHCP? Then you just need a switch that you control with all your machines hanging off of it connected to that VLAN. As long as your IT sets up the routing so that you can get to the rest of the network (and out) you should be ok. It may make things easier for you. That is basically what I have. Re: Guest VMs not able to acquire DHCP IP from Virtual Router unless Guest and VR are on the same KVM host
Hi Carlos, Thanks for the reply. That is exactly what I've requested, but our CloudStack project is a grass-roots POC and hasn't actually received proper wings yet, which is a catch-22 situation since if I can't prove how useful and effective CS is than it probably won't take flight, but if they don't give me my own /24 VLAN for this POC, then I probably won't be able to fully demonstrate how powerful CS really is. I'll keep pushing though. I really want this to work so that I can ultimately build a large multi-regional CS cloud with 4 regions and multiple zones per region for out Global Support, QC and Engineering teams. I figure if we can master Puppet and configure this such that everyone who uses it sees almost instantly that they can't live without it, then it will absolutely take flight. For this particular silly DHCP issue, I will have to continue to push for our own /24 VLAN. Destroy Instance from CMD line
HI all, Wondering if there is a way to remove/destroy an instance from the CS manager via cmd line? Thank you, Jake
Re: Destroy Instance from CMD line
You'll want to use something like cloudmonkey or one of the clients that consume the API to do anything from the command line. * http://cloudstack.apache.org/downloads.html#cloudmonkey * https://github.com/chipchilders/cloudstack_ruby_client * https://github.com/promptworks/stacker_bee On Nov 19, 2013, at 8:37 PM, Jake G. dj_dark_jungl...@yahoo.com wrote: HI all, Wondering if there is a way to remove/destroy an instance from the CS manager via cmd line? Thanks! I have installed cloudmonkey. Do you know what the api commanad would be to destroy an instance? Or perhaps a list of cloudmonkey commands? The complete APIs are listed at http://cloudstack.apache.org/docs/api/. http://cloudstack.apache.org/docs/api/apidocs-4.2/user/destroyVirtualMachine.html is probably what you need. Re: Image format supported by cloudstack
Good day. The image formats depends upon the Hypervisor you used. If it is XenServer/XCP then the image format is VHD and for KVM it is .img . It is nothing to do with Cloudstack. As XenServer/XCP keeping the virtual harddisks in .VHD format in attached NFS repository. Also in CloudStack for primary and secondary storage NFS storage has been used.You can import an existing .vhd file to CloudStack. Normally .VHD files are bigger than the actual Operting System (OS) space. As VHD is the complete harddisk that includes both OS spcae + empty space. From the CloudStack UI, you can get the guest OS list in register template/register ISO form page, or try the API listOsTypes to get the complete list. And do cloudstack (version 4.0 and 4.2) provide support for windows 7, Windows 2012, Ubuntu 12 and Ubuntu 13 ISO? CloudStack supports all the mentioned guest OS. Only for Ubuntu 13, you need to register the template/ISO under Other Ubuntu guest OS type. For xenserver/xcp --- VHD KVM --- qcow2 Esx/VSphere --- ova HyperV --- VHD On any Hypervisor installing OS with ISO is supported, but root disk format will be created w.r.t hypervisor supported format mentioned above.
