In my experience, letting system vms float between hypervisor led to problems. I force mine to one hypervisor using the parameter you found. Hi all, I booted a VM via ISO and then stoped it.When I start it again and I found myself in front of VM OS reinstalling.That means,when I stop a VM booting via ISO,I will lose anything in the disk.It's too awful! Is my understanding correct?If so,is the root-disk of VM ephemeral? - Thank you!

Did you un mount the ISO before stopping/starting your instance? Sounds like it's just trying to reinstall because your instance is booting from the ISO install media. I am seeing this issue as well. It seems that the timeout occurs on any copy
from secondary storage that exceeds 10 Minutes on vmware 5.1. This seems to
affect only templates and images that are large enough not to be copied from
secondary storage in that window. Small templates like the included CentOS
and some home-brew micro ubuntu templates work fine. I was unable to locate
any global setting that is set to 10 minutes, the closest thing I could find
was secstorage.cmd.execution.time.max which I set to 240 minutes in my
environment. I was able to mitigate some of this by using Fibrechannel as
the target, it seemed like my template size was then limited what my 1GBE on
secondary storage could transfer in 10 minutes. The deploy fails in CS but
the Clone VM operation continues to run on the vmware side and does
eventually complete leaving me with an orphaned ROOT-XXX vm on the vmware
side. It seems that the solution would be to set that hard timeout to a
value greater than 10 minutes but I can not locate it anywhere. The
timestamps seem to be the smoking gun. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You should be able to view the console of your instance through the cloudstack UI. This should let you see what's happening on it. Hi David, thank you for your support. The distros are different (CentOS 6.4, Ubuntu 12...), all the OS are 64bit versions. If I try to perform the operation directly on vSphere, for a VM deployed by CloudStack, I'm not able to execute the task; if I deploy a Linux machine directly from VMware I can expand the CPU/RAM resources.
