Shanker,
Appreciate your response. The suggestion to use a shared admin network
sounds like a good plan. Is this admin network the way you have configured,
included in cloustack network offering? How are customers prevented from
provisioning their vms in this shared network,so that the admin vms are
isolated from other customer vms.
Also I was thinking that the admin services could also be run on vms
provisioned by cloudstack by the root admin. Is this the way you are
provisioning the admin services currently ?

Thanks
Saurav

Re: CS 4.2 System VMs Secondary Storage VM

2014-01-15 Thread motty cruz
Thank you very much for your response Geoff,

In a hurry to get things done, I map same IQN on two different hypervisors,
so that is the reason it would disconnect from SAN and therefore the agent
on Storage System VMs failed to connect.

Thanks again for your support.

RE: just 2 questions

2014-01-15 Thread Geoff Higginbottom
You can modify the 'size' column in the 'volumes' table to reflect the new
expanded size.

e.g. I just changed a 20GB root volume to 30GB.

20GB = 21474836480
30GB = 32212254720

After stopping then starting the VM, it is still reporting the size as 30GB

The 'Primary Storage Allocated' in the Resources View also reflected the
change, but only after the system refreshed the resource usage info.

Hi, there is no CSP for XS 6.1 and above. The missing functionality provided
by the CSP was incorporated into XS as of version 6.1. The CSP is mainly some
RPMs including a different kernel and likely wouldn't include those scripts
anyway.

The CloudStack management server copies updated scripts to the hosts when the
hosts are added to CloudStack. If you're not seeing the updated scripts on
your hosts, you are likely using a version of CloudStack that does not include
those updated scripts. You can confirm by checking the XenServer scripts on
your management server. They are in the cloudstack-common RPM and stored in
/usr/share/cloudstack-common/scripts/vm/hypervisor/xenserver/.

Best regards,
Kirk

It's out of my league too. Hope this comes in a release soon.

RE: CS 4.2 System VMs Secondary Storage VM

2014-01-15 Thread Geoff Higginbottom
Motty,

So you have

eth0 - cloudbr0 - Guest/Public
eth1 - cloudbr1 - Management

and presumably

eth2 & eth3 for PRIMARY Storage

When you deployed your zone, you needed to set the KVM-Traffic-Labels for each
of the traffic types.

So for your Management Traffic, you should have set 'cloudbr1' and for your
Guest Traffic, you should have set 'cloudbr0'

If you did not set these, they would defaulted to 'Use default gateway' which
means it would probably be using eth0 for all traffic. As your management
Traffic is supposed to be using eth1, the SSVM, which uses the Management
Network to communicate with your CloudStack Management Server would not be able
to communicate as it would be sending the traffic over eth0.

You can easily check/update the settings from
Infrastructure/Zone/zone-name/Physical-Network-Name/Management or Guest and
then setting the appropriate 'KVM Traffic Label'

Then simply STOP your system VMs - Do not Restart them. You need to STOP them,
then allow CloudStack to Start them, they will then be recreated with the
correct KVM Bridge Mappings and everything should start to work.

Geoff Higginbottom

and one for management so i have two briges cloudbr0 and

I am able to ping to the bridges.

when I go to "Dashboard" on the GUI, my secondary storage says 0 although I

Re: Where can I find the latest Cloudstack XenServer 6.2.0 supplemental package ? (need OVS tunnel functionality)

2014-01-15 Thread Kirk Kosinski
Hi, there is no CSP for XS 6.1 and above. The missing functionality
provided by the CSP was incorporated into XS as of version 6.1. The CSP
is mainly some RPMs including a different kernel and likely wouldn't
include those scripts anyway.

The CloudStack management server copies updated scripts to the hosts
when the hosts are added to CloudStack. If you're not seeing the
updated scripts on your hosts, you are likely using a version of
CloudStack that does not include those updated scripts. You can confirm
by checking the XenServer scripts on your management server. They are
in the cloudstack-common RPM and stored in
/usr/share/cloudstack-common/scripts/vm/hypervisor/xenserver/.

Best regards,
Kirk
