/var/lib/libvirt/images the file system getting full issue

2014-04-14 Thread Gurudatta Shinde
Hi team ,

I am Linux/cloud Engineer working in Tomtom. We are facing an issue for our
hypervisors for file system /var/lib/libvirt/images .

This file system contains the Virtual image disks of guest running on
Hypervisor. As we going on deploying Guests , it gets full. We are looking for
a way how we can have to less space.

So that we can manage them on host itself.

Can anyone please help us out here ? Kindly let us know if need additional info
to fix this problem.

Template Update

2014-04-14 Thread Michael Phillips
I was doing some future thinking, in regards to updating my windows templates
with new software, updates etc. Seems like the only supported way to refresh
your template is to delete, then re-upload. Just curious on different
strategies you have come up with..
I was thinking maybe to just replace the files directly on secondary storage
would be a good way to do it without deleting\re-uploading...

I  have a fiber san that I have presetup in xencenter. I would like to
use this as the primary storage. Its asking for the SR label. Where do I
get this? I see UUID, SCSI ID, and the name and tags that I added to
it.  When I try to add to the cloudstack UI it tries for a second and
then it stops. I don't see anything in the management server log.

RE: DevCloud with OpenContrail

2014-04-14 Thread Ranjeet R
Thanks Chip for forwarding this to the right audience.

Hello all,

To give a brief introduction about OpenContrail, OpenContrail is a network
platform for cloud infrastructure which supports some key functionalities like

- Network Virtualization (by providing inter-network routing across virtual
networks in the host reducing traffic latency)
- Network Programmability (by building a well-defined data model to define
network state and thus enabling configurability and automation)
- Analytics (by providing REST APIs to plough real-time and historical data for
analytical consumption)
- and much more... (opencontrail.org)

We have ported the OpenContrail components into the DevCloud environment so
that it will be easy for developers and users to try out the various features
that OpenContrail offer in conjunction with Cloudstack.

Try it out and let us know your feedback.

Re: KVM, Re-create VR failed

2014-04-14 Thread Marcus
Your agent snippet just looks like the system trying to stop the vm.
If a vm fails to start, it will also run through the stop routine to
clean up all of the prework, so the 'failed to stop' debug is all
normal. You may need to go above and look at why it failed to start.

It certainly does that (re/setting passwords). I have not experimented

would there be any kind of SLA such

it will create one or more VMs instance on CS,

It sure seems very cool. If I understood how it works, when you create an
instance on your system, it will create one or more VMs instance on CS,
right?

Re: DBaaS for Cloudstack

2014-04-14 Thread Felippe da Motta Raposo
How are you thinking to manage the DB? I mean, will the user choose the
hardware such as large/medium/small instance (which does not guarantee
anything when VMs compete for resource)?
R: Yes, we have the plan concept which provides different kinds of hardware
configurations, similar to the service offerings on cloudstack,
consequently, the user can choose the plan which better fits his needs.
Furthermore, each database vm has its own environment, if it is a single
instance, just one vm, but if it is a high available database, a cluster.

How will performance be threated?
R:Could you try to be more specific?

It looks like amazonDB right?
R: No, it is like amazon RDS and we currently support MySQL and MongoDB
instances.

The product is young but we are improving it every day!

Re: DBaaS for Cloudstack

2014-04-14 Thread Rafael Weingartner
I just did not like one thing.
A button called "show password", looking that, the first thing I thinks it
that you save my password either on clear text on the DB or encrypted with
some sort of reversible cryptography. Either way, I would like to have my
password saved in any of those ways. In my opinion just reset password is a
better approach.

I have just a few questions:

How are you thinking to manage the DB? I mean, will the user choose the
hardware such as large/medium/small instance (which does not guarantee
anything when VMs compete for resource)?

How will performance be threated?

Hi!

Here at globo.com we are making a dbaas which also support cloudstack
integration.

Please, take a look and send us some suggestions!

So I did the following:
1. moved all dependencies including vim25_51.jar to source/deps 2. executed
./install-non-oss.sh3. executed mvn clean, then mvn install -Dnoredist4. Then
proceeded with packaging up the RPM's
When I try to add a vmware cluster, I would get a failure that says "Unknown

Re: Cloudstack complains about storage space

2014-04-14 Thread Rafael Weingartner
Allocation is different from real storage usage.

I would to two things:

First of all, change you storage.overprovisioning.factor for storage
allocation to a higher degree such as 5.

Second of all, I would change
“pool.storage.allocated.capacity.disablethreshold” and
“pool.storage.capacity.disablethreshold” to something like 90% or even 95%.

Cs monitors those values and will just instantiate new VMs if the
threasholds have not been crossed.

Re: change VM IP address basic zone setup

2014-04-14 Thread Rafael Weingartner
I did that and it is not enough.
I had to change some entries on a table called "user_ip_address", which
apparently is the table that CS uses to determine if an IP is in use or not.

Cloudstack complains about storage space

2014-04-14 Thread Abu Bashiri
Hey,

strange issue, i try to deploy an instance but it always fails with:

nsufficient un-allocated capacity on: 3 for volume allocation:
[Vol[204|vm=182|ROOT]] since its allocated percentage: 7627580.872342288 has
crossed the allocated pool.storage.alloca

the local storage has 400GB free and even the dashboard in CS is showing
just 23% consumed space. The value is a little bit strange. What can cause
this issue?

Thx!

Hi,

Zone configuration wizard will provide checkbox (Local storage enabled) to get
the local storage enabled zone. If system VMs need to be launched in local
storage, "system.vm.use.local.storage" needs to be set to true before you
enable the zone.

Thanks,
