希望在深圳或广州与各位社区的朋友见面!

2014-04-22 Thread tanthalas

Is it limited in terms of networking, e.g. does it work with advanced
networking?

If so, we could possibly grant access to our environment.

This looks decent. Unfortunately, I don't want to merge this without
having access to a CloudStack installation that I can use for testing. Do
you know any vendors that would be willing to provide a free account for
 basic testing of this builder?

Until then, please make this a plugin, it would work great!

I'll work on vendors as well. Let me know if you can get me access. I'm
going to close for now, but will reopen when/if I can get access. Waah!

Can you destroy the ssvm (s-1-vm). It will get recreated. It should solve the

how to solve these?

In my previous mail I told you that My centos template didnt got loaded so I
used the log file and mounted the secondary storage manually

sudo mount -t nfs 10.4.6.17:/export/secondary/template/tmpl/1/3/

I made the following changes to solve my template problem by making the changes
in my global settings secstorage.allowed.internal.sites to my IP

and I restarted my management server now I am getting the following error

https certificate on load balancer?

2014-04-22 Thread Jochim, Ingo
Hi all,

is it possible to place the https certificate on to the load balancer directly
instead of installing them on each webserver?
I could easily do that manually but my changes will get lost on the next
rebuild of the LB.
Is there a way to have CloudStack doing that?

Thanks and regards,
Ingo

Re: affinity group not work

2014-04-22 Thread Geoff Higginbottom
Two things here. You say you dedicated a host to an account which has access
to a project, this means this host is now unavailable to the project, and can
only be used by that account directly.

Secondly the error message is highlighting a problem with affinity groups. If
you are using an Anti-Affinity group and wish to create 3 VMs, you will need at
least 3 hosts which are available to the Project (obviously excluding the one
you dedicated to the account)

RE: affinity group not work

2014-04-22 Thread Geoff Higginbottom
Then affinity groups are not what you need. You need to setup Compute
Offerings with Host Tags and then set the same Tags on the Hosts.

e.g.

Tag Host 1 with 'host1', Host 2 with 'host2' etc, then create a compute
offering using Host Tag 'host1', and another with Host Tag 'host2' then simply
use these to deploy your VMs. Bear in mind that you may lose HA functionality
with this configuration.

RE: affinity group not work

2014-04-22 Thread Saksham Srivastava
Actually Affinity group of type Explicit Dedication can be of some help.
You dedicate the host to the account.
While deploying VM if you chose the affinity group 'ExplicitDedication',
CloudStack will place the vm on host dedicated to the account.
If the affinity group is not chosen, the VM will be deployed on shared host(non
dedicated).
However afaik affinity groups are not supported in projects (CLOUDSTACK-6237)

You can also try using Implicit dedication planner in strict mode while
creating the service offering.
CS will try to place the VMs deployed from this service offering on implicitly
dedicated host.

Please refer:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/CLOUDSTACK/Dedicated+Resources+-+Private+zone,+pod,+cluster,+host+Functional+Spec

Thanks,
Saksham

RE: Multiple hypervisor through single management server

2014-04-22 Thread Devdeep Singh
Hi Tejas,

For Hyper-V you need to create a zone in which Hyper-V is the only hypervisor
type. Reason being, currently in cloudstack Hyper-V only works with SMB as a
secondary storage. You can have a zone where a mixed set of other hypervisors
are present, for example, xenserver, kvm etc, but for hyper-v you'll have to
create a separate zone in which hyper-v is the only hypervisor. For a hyper-v
zone; you'll have to register a secondary storage of type SMB.

Devdeep

Thank you for your reply Mr. Balan

Let me clearify a few things about my setup.

1. All my setup is happening inside vMware Workstation. That includes my
management server and my hosts.

I am not familiar with a vmware workstation environment.

2. My setup was a basic zone not an advanced zone, but I can switch if
nessecary,

No, lets get basic working first.

3. My Xen host had 1 interface only (eth0 although when I ifconfig it I have
xenbr0 as well). I tried adding another interface but it doesn't show up on the
console.

xenbr0 is the bridge to eth0.

4. I tried adding the traffic labels, I am not entirely sure if I did them the
right way or not:

a) First, I added the labels in the zone.
b) I used the command: xe network-list on my XenServer host, I took the uuid of
xenbr0 and set it to cloud-public using the command xe network-param-set and
adding the uuid and label. Then I added xenapi add cloud-private but after I
ran the cloud and I got the ssvm to run I had something new called xapi1 as
link local network so I switched cloud-private to it.

5. Since I'm using vMware's network. I had the following setup in my zone:

Guest CIDR: 172.16.96.0/24http://172.16.96.0/24
cloud-private traffic type Management: 172.16.96.150-200
cloud-public: 172.16.96.120-140

I am not familiar with vmWare workstation so I cant offer any specific
solutions.
However, in order for nested VMs to work correctly, you might require
the networks settings on the vmware/virtualbox platform to allow promiscous
mode.

Can you find such an option (or similar) option? Allowing promiscous mode
might just get the network working.

Regards.

RE: affinity group not work

2014-04-22 Thread Geoff Higginbottom
Hi Saksham,

Interesting points, however the 'ExplicitDedication' approach may not meet
Gokhans requirements. Gokhan wants to place specific VMs on Specific Hosts.
If you use the dedicated resources feature you are suggesting, and dedicate
Host 1 and Host 2 to an Account, they belong to a common Affinity Group which
will be labelled 'DedicatedGrp-[account name]' There will be no Affinity Group
called 'ExplicitDedication' which could confuse readers of this thread.
Further, as the two Hosts will belong to the same Affinity Group, the user will
have no control over which Host each VM is allocated to as the VMs will be
allocated to any Host in the Group.

Also, as you rightly point out, Affinity Groups are not supported for Projects.

Your second suggestion of using the 'Deployment Planner' feature within the
Service Offering set to ' ImplicitDedicationPlanner' will also not work as this
will try and place the VMs on Hosts with only VMs belonging to the same
account. Again this requires Hosts to be dedicated to the Project (not
supported) and will also potentially place the VMs on the same Host.

An alternative approach to using Hosts Tags which are very specific, would be
to use the 'Deployment Planner' feature within the Service Offering, but set to
'UserDispersingPlanner' with the 'Planner Mode' set to 'Strict'. This should
disperse the VMs across different Hosts, and if it's not able to place them on
unique Hosts, it will throw an error.

There is a 'but' - it appears that setting the 'strict' option for the Planner
Mode when using 'UserDispersingPlanner' does not apply to the service offering
when creating it via the UI, however manually updating the
'service_offering_details' table afterwards does create the required behaviour.

I need to look into this more to see if it is a bug in the UI or API.

[Saksham] Implicit dedication is a post dedication feature. It is very
different from Explicit Dedication. When a vm using Implicit Dedication Planner
SO is deployed, CS will search for an empty host. In case it finds it. The
first vm is deployed on it. Subsequent vm deployments using the same SO will be
tried on the same host. So the host is kind-of dedicated. It doesn’t require
affinity groups at all. But may not be very helpful for the case in hand.

[Saksham] I agree, given the specific case we have, the best way is to use
tags, hands down.

[Saksham] Seems like a UI bug. I remember modes were introduced for Implicit
Dedication planner. Not sure if they were also extended to other Planners also.

However afaik affinity groups are not supported in projects (CLOUDSTACK-6237)

Then affinity groups are not what you need. You need to setup Compute
Offerings with Host Tags and then set the same Tags on the Hosts.

e.g.

Tag Host 1 with 'host1', Host 2 with 'host2' etc, then create a compute
offering using Host Tag 'host1', and another with Host Tag 'host2' then simply
use these to deploy your VMs. Bear in mind that you may lose HA functionality

vms' network limitation

2014-04-22 Thread dobropalka
Hi guys!

We are finishing deployment of private cloud based on CS4.2.1 + XenServer
6.2

But I got stuck with the following problem - My VM's network speed is
limited by approximately 2MB/s, both Windows and Linux ones

Speed between different vms and between vm and mgmt. server seems to be
normal, at least close enough to my physical limitations

I checked compute offering, and tried to create new with 1 GBit/s, I checked
network offerings - 200Mbit\s , I checked global settings:

network.throttling.rate

vm.network.throttling.rate

are set to 200

so, how can i make bandwidths equal to my physical limitations?

Could someone point me how should be setup my network for Zone1 with
respect to network schema as I showed above?

For education purposes, lets say we will use these networks:
– 77.12.34.0/24 (for Public)
– 10.10.10.0/24 (for zone's NAS – primary secondary storage)
– 10.1.1.0/24 (for Guests VMs)
– 10.10.12.0/24 (for management, if it required to be different subnet)

As an answer to my question it would be awesome to get two things:

1) Content of /etc/network/interfaces (bridges and VLANs config in particular)

2) What should be entered on Step 3 – Setup Network (and substeps) in
CloudStack Administrator's UI?

Thanks in advance for helping!

Upgrading system vm template after previous upgrade

2014-04-22 Thread Erik Weber
Hi,

I have an installation that's been upgraded from 4.2.1 to 4.3.
In light of the heartbleed exploit, I have the need to upgrade the system
vm template.

As part of the upgrade process from 4.2.1 to 4.3, I registered and
downloaded a new system vm template, named systemvm-xenserver-4.3.

Now when I want a newer systemvm template, what is the proper way of doing
it?

- should I add another template named systemvm-xenserver-4.3
- should I remove the old systemvm-xenserver-4.3 template and register a
new?
- something else?

Subject: RE: affinity group not work

[Saksham] Yes there will be a single affinity group for the account
irrespective of the hosts dedicated to it. Thanks for pointing it out.
This approach will specifically work if the requirement is a single host and
vms from the account need to be placed only on it.

[Saksham] Implicit dedication is a post dedication feature. It is very
different from Explicit Dedication. When a vm using Implicit Dedication Planner

Imagine that we have a maintenance coming and/or some users could be

very interesting (at least for me) if I could through the CS we send email

Since, we already fill out a form that contains the user’s email. This way
we could give a real meaning to that email that we have to fill in when

VLANs on L2 physical switch.

Could someone point me how should be setup my network for Zone1 with respect to
network schema as I showed above?

For education purposes, lets say we will use these networks:
– 77.12.34.0/24 (for Public)
– 10.10.10.0/24 (for zone's NAS – primary secondary storage) – 10.1.1.0/24
(for Guests VMs) – 10.10.12.0/24 (for management, if it required to be
different subnet)

As an answer to my question it would be awesome to get two things:

1) Content of /etc/network/interfaces (bridges and VLANs config in particular)

2) What should be entered on Step 3 – Setup Network (and substeps) in
CloudStack Administrator's UI?

Thanks in advance for helping!

Yeah, that should work just fine.

I regularly run XenServer and VMware in the same zone with only having the
 XenServer system template seeded.

  Hi Tejas,

It should work but I would recommend that you seed the vmware systemvm
template too on the secondary storage.

   Hi Devdeep,

   Thanks for clarification about hyperv,

If I undo all the changes I made for hyperv setup and go ahead to
 deploy
vmware on existing xen setup, Do I need to upload vmware systemvm or it
   won't be necessary.

Hi Tejas,

For Hyper-V you need to create a zone in which Hyper-V is the only
hypervisor type. Reason being, currently in cloudstack Hyper-V only
works with SMB as a secondary storage. You can have a zone where a
mixed set of other hypervisors are present, for example, xenserver,
kvm etc, but for hyper-v you'll have to create a separate zone in
which hyper-v is the only hypervisor. For a hyper-v zone; you'll have
to register a secondary storage of type SMB.

 Hi

I am trying manage multiple hypervisor through Management server.

1 ) I have installed Xenserver 6.2 on CS 4.3 with nfs as primary
secondary
 storage, it was working fine.
 2) Created new cluster for hyperv and added hyperv host.
 Immediately
 hyperv Centos template download started.
 3) Added SMB/CIFS as primary storage local to hyperv cluster.
 4) while trying to create instance from ISO, log says ,

Dear Rajesh,

Can you tell how to destroy SSvm, I have studied only installation docs and
tried to install cloud stack, I have not seen anywhere in the apache
cloudstack doc how to destroy ssvm.

Today morning when I came my cloudstack centos templates shows 18%
downloaded and my secstorage is full.

Can you destroy the ssvm (s-1-vm). It will get recreated. It should solve
 the issue.

 Thanks

Subject: Storage agent or storage VM disconnected

Changed the following parameter in my cloudstack getting the following
 error in my centos template

Storage agent or storage VM disconnected

 how to solve these?

In my previous mail I told you that My centos template didnt got loaded so
I used the log file and mounted the secondary storage manually

 sudo mount -t nfs 10.4.6.17:/export/secondary/template/tmpl/1/3/
 /mnt/53d355b8-a8c7-33a2-b9fd-e6d68ff7eec0/

I made the following changes to solve my template problem by making the
changes in my global settings secstorage.allowed.internal.sites to my IP
 address(10.4.6.17)

and I restarted my management server now I am getting the following error

Storage agent or storage VM disconnected Any help???
